> Went with my wife to see it. > I told her before we left home, "I know this is going to be boring, but they're free tickets so it's all good". > Sitting in theater, opening musical scene pretty cliche, not impressed > In the middle a tear ran down my cheek, wow, this is hitting me hard, I've never shed a tear at a movie > Near the end when Emma Stone sings "audition" I was literally crying my eyes out. > After the movie, my wife says she didn't like it. > Old couple next to us, the husband didn't like it, his wife was crying like me and loved it
I found it genius. Spectacular. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I've said so much in my life but done so little. I have missed so many opportunities due to fear, or uncertainty. I've dreamt so big but never made the leap. That is what I got from this movie.
10/10 best movie I've ever seen.

Jamal, you've been trippin'.
Lincoln Brooks
Great cinematography and performances. Solid 6.5/10 movie.

I liked it, I need to see it again before I truly judge it. Maybe I'll watch the screener instead of waiting for a web rip.

This looks like the whitest movie of 2016, i'll see it for best Emma.
Alexander Morgan

I liked it. I bet it took some real effort for Stone/Gosling to learn how to sing/dance and Goose to learn the piano.
It's Oscarbait. And it highlights so many things wrong with Los Angeles.
Oliver Carter
Movie's got some interracial love and kissing in it. Sup Forums would not approve.
It's white in the sense that it's almost like a classical movie style, and most classical movies were white as fuck.
Hudson Reed
is it musikino
Kayden Rivera
>I've said so much in my life but done so little. I have missed so many opportunities due to fear, or uncertainty. Maybe that's why it hit you. Those of us who actually went after our dreams felt that the idea of "JUST GO AFTER YOUR DREAM LEL YOU CAN DO IT AND IN 5 YEARS YOU'LL MAKE MILLIONS!!!" was a fucking joke. Life is never that simple, this film is not dramatic, it's just stupid and dishonest. Songs were alright though
Oliver Thompson
I'm curious what things it highlights about LA? Are you talking about her casting scenes, and his musical shift to make his paycheck?
Michael Allen
The traffic. All the delusional faggots who move to LA hoping to win the lottery. The casting directors who do not give a fuck. The having to sellout if you want to get anywhere. The Hollywood meatgrinder that chews love up and spits it out.
Although in this day and age, the film was downright innocent. The 1950s style courtship was bracing and almost shocking compared to the degeneracy of modern LA.
Colton Nguyen
I can't stand seeing Ryan Gosling sad.
Had a lacking final act like most musicals.
Jordan Johnson
Obviously that is why it hit me.
I'm not talking about dreams of making millions. I could've gotten into a music school for high school but didn't because I was afraid. After studying Japanese in high school I could've studied abroad but I didn't because I was afraid.
Getting married to my wife was the first thing that I did where I ignored the fear. It has gone well so far and I am happy, but as Sebastian saw at the end of the movie things could have been different.
I think that what he saw at the end showed him a situation in which he definitely would have been happy, and that song he played conveyed that emotion to Mia as well. But the smiles they gave afterwards showed that they both knew they made the right choice. I don't know if I have made the right choices.
Kayden Walker
>that song he played conveyed that emotion to Mia as well. But the smiles they gave afterwards showed that they both knew they made the right choice.
He played their secret song, a song whose meaning only the two of them would understand, their love song.
The smiles were bittersweet. Surely she was happy he had the place he always talked about, with the title she came up with, Seb's. But she was the one that got away.
That's why a lot of people don't like the movie because Gosling got cucked again, like in that movie with Michelle Williams, Blue Valentine.
Anthony Mitchell
>its a musical for the first 30 minutes >forgets its a musical and has no singing for an hour >in the interview near the end they all of a sudden remember its a musical
>all the music bar the little piano piece is extremely forgettable
Jeremiah Ortiz
Oh yeah. Been to LA several times. My sister lives there with his husband and he has his dreams of directing movies (he has directed a few, mostly very indie style moves, and they have done moderately well).
Traffic is shit 24/7. Driving in LA is a drag.
The selling out part is 100% true. It's always gonna be like that though. It's just the nature of the business. It is a tough city with a lot of hopefuls and the majority will never reach their goal.
This movie didn't inspire me to go to LA and make it big. It's just about taking chances, if an avenue presents itself I just have to take it. I have had so many open and close due to my own reckless and cowardly behavior. I can no longer close those doors
Angel Gutierrez
Every song but the intro song was great. Emma Stone showed so much emotion in her voice singing "audition". I will never forget it.
Also > Musicals must have a certain amount of music or else it's dumb
There was plenty of music in the middle. Sometimes almost short bursts, sometimes the music was during a normal conversation.
Camden Peterson
>Every song but the intro song was great The songs were boring and forgettable. Didn't help that the two main characters could barely sing.
Anthony Jackson
>forgets its a musical and has no singing for an hour
that's the best part about it though. not even memeing; most of the songs aside from the intro and that night party songs had a really good purpose to being there. not many filler songs in the movie in my opinion
Dylan Wilson
Ryan isn't the best singer, but when Emma and her song not only was she good, but you could feel.
Nicholas Hughes
You are a cuck, and your wife have no soul. Interesting...
Lincoln Gutierrez
>wife >not wife's son 0/10
Jaxon Adams
Don't forget the veiled casting couch at the party scene. That poor girls thinking that they will "make it big" fucking some old Hollywood perv.
