Just use MPC-HC or mpv, they both work out of the box now. There is literally no excuse on using a VIDEO LAN PLAYER as your main video player.

That's the mentality around here. 99% of the time VLC is perfectly fine. But unless you have to jump through 30 hoops and be part of a sekret club to fully optimize your media player it's trash

It "kinda" works. However if you want to play some files correctly (Specially those who are really HD) or uses some functionalities, you need to make some tweaks here and there.
But I agree MPC-HC is way better than VLC, but actually that's the appeal of VLC, "to work out of the box" and you don't have to move anything, it's like the Apple of video players.
