Seriously, listen to it right now and tell me it isn't the greatest pop punk album ever produced.

What you posted is one of my favorites though.

pop punk stinks in general, male-girly vocals, cheesy lyrics and the awful clash of pop riffs with punk attitude is disgusting

This, I really don't see its value. With post-punk, the punk attitude was melded with more complex song structures, varied instrumentation, and introspective lyrics to create some powerful stuff. With pop punk, you're literally just watering down punk to make it more catchy and accessible, not adding anything new.

You trying to imply that ska punk isn't poppy?

idk. i usually think of ska punk and pop punk as 2 different things.

Because they are

Most ska punk is on the poppy side of things so eh.

was about to post
probably the best pop punk album ever made, it helps that Green Day is one of the most influential artists in the genre

you just explained the appeal, man. i listen to a wide variety of punk: post-punk, hardcore (and powerviolence and all that shit), post-hardcore (i love dischord 90s shit), garage, etc.
sometimes you just want something to turn your brain off and enjoy. it's just like top 40 with a bit more energy and edge. mindless shit that you can sing along to or listen to in the car. not every band has to make a bold statement or challenge conventions, sometimes music just needs to put a smile on your face.
