Should I stop trying to share my music with the world? I'm 25 and have been producing and making music since I was 13. I don't know what my problem is but no one has ever seemed to fucking care. The most attention my music has gotten is from sharing it here and even then it doesn't fit the niches. Not speaking against anyone's tastes, im just trying to do something different I suppose.
I put my first album out in January. So far, it's had 37 track listens on spotify and one free download from Bandcamp. I don't give a flying fuck - I like it, and I'm proud of it.
John Kelly
Are you supporting yourself with your music or is it a hobby?
Thomas Ward
Post it. The problem is probably that it's bad. Not to be mean. Or it could be that you're presenting it badly. Or not trying to get anyone to hear it. Who knows. Post it.
Parker White
post the link and I'll check it out.
Idk what to say for myself other than through everything music has been amazing but I have issues and I take medication for it and I have a hard time with life so music is really all I have and it doesn't do me much
Daniel Ward
Seriously, you should post it. Maybe it sucks, and that's why no one cares about it. How do you expect anyone to give you advice if you're not willing to share your work?
Daniel Miller
what kinda music is it and also this guys question
Jason Miller
I just got a job because I started taking proper medication and can deal with shit properly. My music has helped me a little on bandcamp, I've made probably $120 from a couple of songs that randomly did well.
To describe it the best way I can, trip-hop/psych/industrial/ambient idk
well, I made this post in a weird half awake stupor and now I don't want to be that fucking guy. like I wanna post it but fuck.
Asher Green
pretty mellow and nice on the ears. followed! when im not such a broke ass I'll buy something.
Austin Cooper
>like I wanna post it but fuck. James Dean had this fetish where he would walk into a seedy bar, lay on the floor and get the meanest guys there to urinate on him and stub cigarettes out on his back.
Post that link.
Logan Thompson
Why not?
Blake Hill
you genuinely made me laugh. thanks.
James Williams
>followed! when im not such a broke ass I'll buy something. thanks!! Just download it for free - I have other income streams.
if its bad just let this post go to the back please. i guess this is the day i get some actual critique
Angel Cook
i'm just some random shill but i feel like i'm in the same boat as OP other than i'm pretty sure the reason nobody cares is because of the presentation, and kinda the shitty music too probably actually. gonna answer the questions and post my music because i'm bored tho
100% hobby atm
idk what kind of music i make, i want to make music for lonely people to dance in their chairs to
like i know having an album called "this album is shit" isn't a good idea but i don't know what else to call it now and i don't want to take it down...
Kayden Powell
OP again, i just reuploaded this, i uploaded it yesterday but deleted it for some reason
>soundcloud.com/b4dtr1p Just listened to first track - it's good - production values are good. You're off to a good start - just keep devloping your arrangements and sound palette.
Alexander Kelly
Doesn't sound bad, just kinda bland IMO. There's probably a thousand other soundcloud producers that sound just like this. Don't expect anyone to give a shit about you without a reason to give a shit about you specifically.
Also, you really can't be shy about your music if you want anyone to notice it.
Christian Watson
Listened to this - it's good OP. I like it. Don't give up. Bedroom produced electronic music is an oversaturated market. Don't really know what to suggest to you other than if it doesn't take off in five years, put a huge mammal head on and pump your fists at festivals.
Liam Diaz
thank you. recently I've been exploring older electronic musicians to try and learn and pick up on things they were on to. Taking any recommendations! a few of my faves are Aphex, Flying Lotus, Chemical Brothers. Open to generally all music.
Levi Clark
I can appreciate that. I guess where I feel that I set myself apart from them is that I make all of my synths and samples. I spend a lot of time on it but I can understand that it sounds bland.
Caleb Robinson
i will tell you what i tell must everybody. listen to fad gadget.
Ayden Russell
hahaha I'd probably shoot myself first
Angel Bailey
It's cool, but I can't see myself listening to it normally. I think some tracks like "you could just literally" would work well as background music in a game, like a ps2 styled mascot platformer.
Parker Miller
I can feel that. PS1 and 2 had some inspirational OST
Eli Reyes
im gonna go and try to be an adult today. thanks everyone, im sorry if i wasted anyones time
Thomas Bailey
OP: Your music is really well produced, and it shows. I'd just recommend working with other people in your local scene.
Owen Ross
I second this guy
Ayden Ramirez
Sounds good man. How have you tried to get it out there? If you just plop it on a soundcloud it will only get so much attention. Have you sent it to labels or tried to get gigs at small festivals or anything? Do you have it on bandcamp or youtube or the major services like Spotify, Apple, etc.? There are way worse people who play at festivals all the time. Don't be insecure. Try to get your stuff out there however you can.
