The Dwarves are found by Silvan elves, which is what Tauriel is. It's what elves live in Mirkwood. She represents it, especially with how Thranduil looks down upon here. Legolas often appears as a Silvan, but he is NOT one of them. He is not a mirkwood elf and it's much MUCH stupider to include Legolas in the hobbit than a new character which is based on the book.
