Mate, I can remember Serb... I mean Yugoslavia going east with its political ideas and trade within my lifetime.

Come to NATO and be relief

Balkanism doesn't work and it will always be shat on by shills. Whole peninsula has same problem.

I just want all the EU liberal muslims to get hanged, all the communists to get sent in the gulag and for us to become a sovereign country again with gypsy oriented slavery. Death to the EU. Borders will never be broken.

Anyone hear what our standing on the EU super state plan is?

>tfw no qt3.14 american military base to send rapist to town near me
Come back, world police force. I don't want to pay an extra $3 a month in taxes to replace you with native soldiers.

>it doesn't work because it doesn't work
Well the idea is that if we actually try to make it work, it would work. The only thing stopping it is that either nobody is doing it, or whoever is doing it gets trashed by everyone else.
Balkan international politics and (lack of) cooperation is textbook prisoner dilemma, and we are failing it hard.

A region like every other region.

Maybe you should follow your government. Just kidding this gay Germany is not worthy of support.

...

>Anyone hear what our standing on the EU super state plan is?
Now that UK is gone nobody will veto the idea of a single EU military plan and budget.
For Bulgaria this probably means we will pay less for defense, but get more hardware and soldiers in here. Foreign soldiers though.

Still, the idea of a big EU army is making my little tzar Putin itch, if you know what I mean. He doesn't feel right. Twitching a bit. Wouldn't want him to do something stupid down there.

rare?
I don't care, still collected.

Not since the bombing and the Bulldozer Revolution

It's because dushman has painted us as subhuman scum of Europe that does nothing but sabotage good ideas. Leaders here just sell their asses to highest bidder. It will never work unfortunately.

Foreign troops is just another word for invasion force.
Unleash your tzar Putin, it is better alternative than becoming Sharia Law.

>having german planes and anti-air, and border patrols and some gunboats in the black sea is an invasion

What did he mean by this?
I am just as bitter and cynical as you are, but even by black dead heart can see that having somebody else pay the bill for keeping the country safe is not a bad thing, pride aside.
It can only ever be a problem if EU decides to upgrade its wallet-off with Russia to an army-off. Hopefully that won't happen, since everyone involved would lose, and again only the USA would benefit.

They can defend us all they want, but they expect us to STOP investing in our own defence. Fuck that. Those EU forces will do more in defending the tides of muslims crossing our borders from us, than us from them.

Im not selling my country for a shiny dime.

fuck bulgars. fucking ottoman rape babies.
Every fucking world war you there to stab us in the back.

>something has to be done
>its expensive
>someone else proposes to do it for you
>NO SIR I AM NOT SELLING MY COUNTRY I WILL COVER THESE EXPENSES ITS A MATTER OF NATIONAL PRIDE

Silly tbqh.

>stab in the back
>we are in front of you
>we are on the other team from the beginning
>every fucking world war, as if there were more than 2

I'd rather fight a world war every 20 years than be a soviet puppet state again.

Not a single shot has ever been fired from a Bulgarian towards a Russian although you steppe people more than one time deserved it.

Not really, I agree with the other guy. A sovereign state should be able to rely on its own military.

Its a matter of security, you seem to have ignored the entire point. Is a gun pointed to your head telling you to sell your women and children for protection worth it? I think not.
You can go live in germany where they share your ideals.

A country of 7 million people, of which less than 2 are military aged men, which has a low budged and almost no arms production, can not ever rely on its own military.
Thats why we are in an alliance to begin with.

>we cant rely on our millitary
>lay down and spread your cheeks

Now this is silly.

That is all true and you have a point. What I mean is and what I think the other user meant is that we should not abandon or dissolve our own because we have someone taking care of us.

Things can change and in case our allies pull out what then?

>either have a small army that cant defend us, but we still pay for
>or have a huge army that can defend us, that we don't pay for

Hmmm....

>have a huge army that dosnt give 2 shits about us and can fuck off any second when ordered to
>or have a national army that will die for it's land and people

Hmmm...

You two guys arguing is silly. This thread makes me also realize we are indeed maybe 4 people visiting this board...

Take your generals to Sup Forums faggots. Did you ever see us shitpost on here like you do?

With a 200k men military you can be totally independent if its equipped good and even barely to beat if you have to defend a small, mountaineous territory such as Bulgaria. Not more is needed, the wars with huge numbers are past since a long time.

Those roman threads were all over the place.

>>""bulgarian intellectuals"" who wish a more balkan centered strategy get shat on by both camps
It is always those who are right that get the most shit.

bulgrria y u no trade

bulgoria trade with me plz

bulgria y haet me

bulgria we are balkan too

...

>implying the EU won't defend its territory
>implying the "dying for your country" meme lasts a single day outside of the parades and barracks

Protip: we never lost a war because all soldiers died. There was always a surrender, always a riot back home, always soldiers marching on their generals.
Nobody "dies for the land" if they can help it.
I'd much rather have 10x well equipped and trained mercenaries that some kraut pays for, than 1x selyaks with rifles that turn revolutionaries the moment the line breaks.

When are we going to divide Macedonia again?
You can have Skopje and the lakes, I just want the shitty villages to farm taxpayers there.

>Anyone hear what our standing on the EU super state plan is?

Kostov said we should apply EU property as a type of property for EU investment funds. Once a marxist always a marxist I guess.

To be honest that's hugely underestimating and generalizing our military history. Are you serious or shitposting on purpose?

Okay, which war did we lose because everyone died defending the land?
I honestly and genuinely can't think of one off the top of my head. They all seem to rather end with revolts and surrender, not with all bulgarian men dying.

That doesn't mean you do not strive to create and reform your defense. What the fuck.

Otherwise let everyone else get boots on your ground and do whatever they tell you, like a true puppet state, without it being "consiparcy theories" but as fact as facts go.

For example, because of your ineffective airforce, Greece is guarding your airspace, you think this is right?

This thread just made me read about the history of the First Bulgarian Empire.

>The Bulgarian army was captured; it is said that 99 out of every 100 men were blinded, with the remaining hundredth man left with one eye so as to lead his compatriots home (earning Basil the moniker "Bulgaroktonos", the Bulgar Killer).

>dying for your country
>meme

The only time our soldiers turned on our generals was when we were the ones invading.
But when they tried to invade us there was no retreat or surrender, only a few deserters and stragglers. There wouldnt be a unified Bulgaria if we ran away like the french.

So you can take your cheap mercenaries and shove em.

>Kostov
>marxist

I still remember him dressed in an "elegant antzug" adidas pants and some autumn jacket after the coup, his warband of revolutionaries couldn't afford suits.
And that other democrat reformer, Dogan, who was in jail for blowing up a train wagon for nursing mothers. There is a monument to the terrorist's brave heroism somewhere along the rails.

But we were Romans. dacians&agathyrsi(scito-iranian protobalkan and first true europeans) live there starting with around 7500 BC.After the vlachs(daco-romans from Trajan conquest) live untill 958, when magyars(turk-asiatic people from Central Asia, ancestors of hungarians) came.

>hungarians claim that they had Transylvania for over 1000 years, when the kingdom of Hungary dissapeared after 1541 untill 1867,period of which it was either under ottoman rule or habsburgic while Transilvania was independent voievode starting from Stefan the Holy(997-1038) until 1699 when it becomes austrian province, just like Hungary. Therefore Transilvany lost its independence from 1699 until 1918 ,belonging to the Habsburgic Empire and not to Hungary who from 1526 to 1867 didnt exist.

Roman empire is older than Bugarian empire

Do you spend too much time playing Paradox games where you win wars by completely wiping out enemy nations?

We lost important wars during the 20th century and big surprise we surrendered when we gotten beaten. Why do you project the concept that every single soldier has to die to end a war?

As to the revolt you refer to the one from 1918 which was put down. Then followed a surrender.

Other cases which you may refer to are coup d'etat.

back when Greeks still had balls

Do you think if Greece wanted to invade we could stop them?
We can't defend the country from Turkey, nor Greece, nor Germany, nor Italy, nor Russia or whoever.
Since we can't defend it from danger, why don't we stop wasting money on soldiers, who don't do anything?
The only thing a bulgarian army achieves is make sure Serbia or Macedonia don't annex us, thats it. And being in EU/NATO already does that.
Our military doesn't do anything else. Its not strong enough, or big enough, or modern enough, or trained enough to do anything. Why spend money on a hammer that can't hit nails?

the we wuz Romans is just a meme right
Romans didn't even control dacia for that long
you people just use the first bit of a name of a better empire

>thinks armies "die for the land"
>calls me out on vidya logic

Top kek, son.

>just because our millitary isnt big enough to stop power states it shouldnt exist

A fucking, liberal, globalist, turk, ciganin.

its not about defeating the enemy you spinless hack
its about standing your ground long enough to save civilian

Grece is weak now, even weaker than you. IMF's forecast said that Greece's unemployment rate would hit the highest 14.8 percent in 2012 and decrease to 14.1 in 2014. [194] But in fact, the Greek economy suffered a prolonged high unemployemnt.[195] The unemployment figure was between 9 per cent and 11 per cent in 2009, and it soared to 28 per cent in 2013. In 2015, Greece's jobless rate is around 24 per cent. It is thought that Greece's potential output has been eroded by this prolonged massive unemployment due to the associated hysteresis effects.

Well you achieved your goal. I don't want to believe that such an excuse of a man lives in this country.

>Our military doesn't do anything else. Its not strong enough, or big enough, or modern enough, or trained enough to do anything. Why spend money on a hammer that can't hit nails?

When things are shit you repair or upgrade them ffs

gonna need that "FUCK YOU DOLPHIN" polandball

Based Basil.
They were punished like that because they were considered traitors by the Empire.

Damn what a shitty situation for the Bulgars, no wonder Samuel died after that. But after that Basil was actually pretty bro towards the Bulgars.

Greece has more fighter planes than we have trucks in the military, get real.
The reason they are bankrupt is exactly because they overspend on such shit.

Armies atleast makes other countries think before attacking. Also the world is currently going back to geopolitics so your reasoning is idiotic. Stay in the 90s user.

We are Romans though. Check our language. It is without doubt that the Romanian language is descended from Latin dialects spoken in the Roman provinces north of the "Jireček Line" (a proposed notional line separating the predominantly Latin-speaking territories from the Greek-speaking lands in Southeastern Europe) in Late Antiquity. The theory of Daco-Roman continuity argues that the Romanians are mainly descended from the Daco-Romans, a people developing through the cohabitation of the native Dacians and the Roman colonists in the province of Dacia Traiana (primarily in present-day Romania) north of the river Danube. The competing immigrationist theory states that the Romanians' ethnogenesis commenced in the provinces south of the river with Romanized local populations (known as Vlachs in the Middle Ages) spreading through mountain refuges, both south to Greece and north through the Carpathian Mountains. According to the "admigration theory", migrations from the Balkan Peninsula to the lands north of the Danube contributed to the survival of a Romance-speaking population in those territories

there you go burger

Three major ethnic groups – the Dacians, Illyrians and Thracians – inhabited the northern regions of Southeastern Europe in Antiquity.[40] However, Dacians are considered by other scientists as belonging to Thracian family.[41] The Illyrians were the first to be conquered by the Romans, who organized their territory into the province of Illyricum around 60 BC.[42][43] In the lands inhabited by Thracians, the Romans set up the province of Moesia in 15 AD,[44] and Thracia 31 years later.[44][45] Present-day Dobruja was attached to Moesia in 46.[46]

Or, alternatively, you have your bigass allies send their army to defend, while you spend the extra money on reforming education and treating cancer patients.

This useless military, which doesn't do anything, and can't possibly do anything since everybody elses' is bigger, costs many tens of millions, hundreds maybe.
Its a large opportunity cost, and a waste of cash and manpower.

What are you doing here? We dont have anything against Romanians, you dont need to convince us of your heritage man, stop the spam :D

We don't have reason to invade, lol.

What i'm saying is that you should be thinking of having reforms in the military and military industry instead of finding an "easy way" to fill up the gaps in your armed forces.

>The reason they are bankrupt is exactly because they overspend on such shit.
not even close, though. REasons of our bankruptcy are more complex than that, actually spending on equipment has nothing to do with it.

Greece has overspent on military for decades, because its trying to race Turkey, which has a much larger economy.
If we listen to the morons here we'd be in the same position, buying hardware and keeping young men in barracks until we stop growing economically.
Bulgaria can't afford a good military, and doesn't need a bad military.

...

Not spamming. Bulgarians have only appeared after us.
The Romans annihilated the Dacian kingdom to the north of the Lower Danube under Emperor Trajan in 106.[47] Its western territories were organized into the province of Dacia, but Maramureș and further regions inhabited by the Costoboci, Bastarnae and other tribes remained free of Roman rule.[48][49] The Romans officially abandoned Dacia under Emperor Aurelian (r. 270–275),[50] who organized a new province bearing the same name ("Dacia Aureliana") south of the Lower Danube.[51] Thereafter, pressure from the Goths forced significant groups of Bastarnae and Carpians to seek asylum in the Roman Empire.[52][53] Although Roman forts were erected north of the Danube in the 320s,[54] the river became the boundary between the empire and the Goths in the 360s.[55]

Meanwhile, from 313 under the Edict of Milan, the Roman Empire began to transform itself into a Christian state.[20][56][57] Roman emperors supported Christian missionaries, including Ulfilas who was consecrated bishop for the lands dominated by the Goths in the 340s.[58] The Huns destroyed all these territories between 376 and 406,[59] but their empire also collapsed in 453.[60][61] Thereafter the Gepids dominated Banat, Crișana, and Transylvania.[62] Their kings' seat was transferred to Sirmium in the 480s.[63] The Ostrogothic Kingdom annexed Dalmatia in 493,[64] while the Antes, Sclavenes and other tribes made frequent raids against the Balkans.[65][66] The Roman Empire revived under Emperor Justinian I (r. 527–565),[67] but the Avars, who had subjugated the Gepids,[68] invaded the Balkans from the 580s.[69] In 30 years all Roman troops were withdrawn from the peninsula,[70] where only Dyrrhachium, Thessaloniki and a few other towns remained under Roman rule.

The weapon industry is strong, the military is in need of reforms but not totally impotent. It would be enough to hold the enemy until NATO support comes, not more.

>more on bulgarians

The next arrivals, the Bulgars, established their own state on the Lower Danube in 681.[72] Their territorial expansion accelerated after the collapse of the Avar Khaganate in the 790s.[73] The ruler of the First Bulgarian Empire, Boris I (r. 852–889) converted to Christianity in 864.[74] A synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church promoted a liturgy in Old Church Slavonic in 893.

Man who is gonna read this, honestly.
And who cares when you appeared, important is now you are here, not what was 2000 years ago.

Again, military spending has nothing to do with us being bankrupt. If you want to find the problems with our military spending you should check the equipment we get and the money we give for that equipment, but anyway you wouldn't get it if you don't know shit about it, no reason to start talking about it.

>1 Slav word
>LMAO GUISE WE ARE SLAVS N SHIEEEEET

Luv, Greece is top 5 in the world for military spending as a percentage of GDP.
It spends more of its money on military than Russia or China.

Also our first writings were Roman which proves my point.

The first written record of a Romance language spoken in the Middle Ages in the Balkans was written by the Byzantine chronicler Theophanes Confessor in the 6th century about a military expedition against the Avars from 587, when a Vlach muleteer accompanying the Byzantine army noticed that the load was falling from one of the animals and shouted to a companion Torna, torna fratre (meaning "Return, return brother!").

Our first writing was in hunnic runes, am I not a slav too?

We could spend even more than that and it wouldn't be a problem if the rest of the state functioned a bit.

If the rest of the state functioned you wouldn't be allowed to spend that much on boats you don't use.

will we gather enough men for one right wing death squad?

On that topic, what is the best organization to join in order to prepare for the race war? The BNS "Sports Organization" (modelled after SS, not sure if still active), the "Warrior Union Vasil Levski" (surprisingly based, they have redpills on the Jewish Question published on their website) or something else?

Is it now still properly maintained since the crisis hit in? What is it for in fact, I mean obviously the Turks, but they dont pose any real threat at the moment, why spending so much?

You don't know shit, man. Keep thinking that armies are useless up until turds or whoever the fuck, even us, are fucking you up the ass

Your first writings were Cyrillic. Between the Slavonic migration to eastern Balkans and the mission of Saints Cyril and Methodius to Great Moravia in the 860s. Followed by Old Bulgarian. Old Bulgarian (9th to 11th century, also referred to as Old Church Slavonic) – a literary norm of the early southern dialect of the Common Slavic language from which Bulgarian evolved. It was used by Saints Cyril and Methodius and their disciples to translate the Bible and other liturgical literature from Greek into Slavic. Followed by Middle Bulgarian (12th to 15th century) – a literary norm that evolved from the earlier Old Bulgarian, after major innovations were accepted. It was a language of rich literary activity and the official administration language of the Second Bulgarian Empire.
Modern Bulgarian – dates from the 16th century onwards, undergoing general grammar and syntax changes in the 18th and 19th centuries. Present-day written Bulgarian language was standardized on the basis of the 19th-century Bulgarian vernacular. The historical development of the Bulgarian language can be described as a transition from a highly synthetic language (Old Bulgarian) to a typical analytic language (Modern Bulgarian) with Middle Bulgarian as a midpoint in this transition.

So we going to make chetas? Who's gonna be the Voivoda?

More on this. Bulgarian was the first "Slavic" language attested in writing. As Slavic linguistic unity lasted into late antiquity, in the oldest manuscripts this language was initially referred to as языкъ cлoвяньcкъ, "the Slavic language". In the Middle Bulgarian period this name was gradually replaced by the name языкъ блъгapьcкъ, the "Bulgarian language". In some cases, the name языкъ блъгapьcкъ was used not only with regard to the contemporary Middle Bulgarian language of the copyist but also to the period of Old Bulgarian. A most notable example of anachronism is the Service of St. Cyril from Skopje (Cкoпcки минeй), a 13th-century Middle Bulgarian manuscript from northern Macedonia according to which St. Cyril preached with "Bulgarian" books among the Moravian Slavs. The first mention of the language as the "Bulgarian language" instead of the "Slavonic language" comes in the work of the Greek clergy of the Bulgarian Archbishopric of Ohrid in the 11th century, for example in the Greek hagiography of Saint Clement of Ohrid by Theophylact of Ohrid (late 11th century).

If someone wants to invade Bulgaria the army will be less of a problem than the bad roads.
I am pretty certain that if some of the bigger Russian ultras hooligans groups decided to take over here we wouldn't be able to fight them off.

An army can be useful if you can afford a good one. We can't.

>arguing with liberal globalists

You have only yourself to blame, Anatoli. The cross is the only cure.

>Your first writings were Cyrillic.

lolno

That looks fucking sweet holy shit

Your pic represents Celtic Runes. The earliest runic inscriptions date from around 150 AD. The characters were generally replaced by the Latin alphabet as the cultures that had used runes underwent Christianisation, by approximately 700 AD in central Europe and 1100 AD in northern Europe. However, the use of runes persisted for specialized purposes in northern Europe. Until the early 20th century, runes were used in rural Sweden for decorative purposes in Dalarna and on Runic calendars.

The three best-known runic alphabets are the Elder Futhark (around 150–800 AD), the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc (400–1100 AD), and the Younger Futhark (800–1100 AD). The Younger Futhark is divided further into the long-branch runes (also called Danish, although they were also used in Norway and Sweden); short-branch or Rök runes (also called Swedish-Norwegian, although they were also used in Denmark); and the stavlösa or Hälsinge runes (staveless runes). The Younger Futhark developed further into the Medieval runes (1100–1500 AD), and the Dalecarlian runes (around 1500–1800 AD). They have nothing to do with you.

Turks pose the greatest threat since Cyprus now, because of our economic state ofcourse.

This situation has affected the armed forces obviously. Things are pretty bad, since our govs have closed the military industry(this seemed to be a target too, pretty suspicious) while they had little to no debt. Govs have been cutting from the budget, not much though, and have been cutting from the salaries of the personnel too. Moral is high, though, and the personnel is very well trained. The problem is corruption within the officers ranks and politics being put higher than the fatherland.

By the time those were used there was already a Cyrillic writing of you. The oldest inscriptions are found in Denmark and northern Germany, not near Italy. A "West Germanic hypothesis" suggests transmission via Elbe Germanic groups, while a "Gothic hypothesis" presumes transmission via East Germanic expansion.
