2016 in review

Now that the dust has settled.
What were your favourite films of 2016?

>neon demons

>La La Land

fuck off back to plebbit please

the lobster
10 cloverfield lane
those were the only two i would say were good films, and cloverfield shit the bed in the last 15 mins. nocturnal animals was okay

not him but yeah shit taste, user

Shin Godzilla.

Cloverfield overhyped for what it was, Hail, Caesar might've best been served as a UK-style 4 or 5 episode TV series than as a movie. Shin Godzilla was presumably just going to be an Evangelion movie where Godzilla was a standin for an Angel, ended up being that and more. Fucking loved it.

>Split
>2016
Are you OK anonymous?

>BvS higher than the young pope
0/10

Christ could you pick more shitty films that I hated, jesus fucking christ.

Hail ceasar, la la land and 10 cloverfield lane are shit. So is arrival, star wars and neon demon.

Christ another fucking la la land, hail ceasar, 10 cloverpleb lane shitfest. No wonder this board is FUCKING SHIT.

this list is like a mash-up on of the worst of reddit and Sup Forums

...

>not liking Coen Brothers

>sucking off everything the Coen Brothers make
Fuck off

>dude its a good film simply because the directors made good films previously lmao

Lion
^the most feels i got out of all the best picture nominees

1. Rogue One
2. Deadpool
3. Batman V Superman
3. La La Land
4. Doctor Strange
5. Hacksaw Ridge
6 Star Trek Beyond
7. Arrival
8. Jackie
9. Suicide Squad
10. Captain America Civil War
11. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Best sci-fi in a long time.

Fences. Nothing else was really close imo.

>these are the people who like la la land
Kek

This might come out of right field and win just like Bridman did. Fences was one of the more unique films in the way it takes place on a really small set and its almost entirely story telling.

Knight of Cups, Elle, Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Sing Street, Everybody Wants Some!!, Love & Friendship and Fences were really good

>Favorite films
>Films
I didn't have more than one favorite. There was only one film in 2016 that deserves legitimate praise.

La La Land (yeah, fight me contrarion faggot)
The Neon Demon
Elle
The Nice Guys
10 Cloverfield Lane
Swiss Army Man
The Lobster
Fantastic Beasts because fuck you, it was a simple, fun adventure movie done right and it was a shit year for movies so fuck it.

I have yet to see Manchester and Silence, so they might make my list as well

fuck J.K rowling and fuck fantastic beasts, she shat all over the harry potter film series

I think Snyder really overperfromed with BVS as I don't like any of his previous films. In the reverse, I thought that Sorrentino lacked what made TGB so good in TYP.

But anything that's not 1 star is basically something worth watching imho

how?

The Witch
Deadpool
Star Trek Beyond
The Witch
Don't Breathe
10 Cloverfield Lane
The Wailing

Don't think I mentioned it but The Witch

>Fantastic Beasts because fuck you, it was a simple, fun adventure movie done right and it was a shit year for movies so fuck it.

This is just what it was and you shouldn't need to defend liking it.

Watch more films, this is embrassing.

Sorry didn't put any capeshit, faggot

also forgot to add The Witch there.

Your list is essentially as plebeian and embryonic as capeshit

>how?

read the books faggot

show me your list bitch

what films do you guys like then?

I dont see much wrong with La La Land but for some reason most people in this thread seem to hate it

Read them. Will you elaborate or are you that lazy?

10 Cloverfield Lane would have been a good movie if they didn't make it a Sci Fi movie in the end. That ending was so dogshit, one of the worst attempts at trying to set up for a sequel I've ever seen.

The ending was why I liked it

the alien shit coming out of nowhere was great, especially after the whole movie had me trying to figure out if Goodman was crazy or not and in the end it turns out he's right

I guess I didn't watch many movies in 2017

Operation Avalanche was fucking cool as shit though and everyone should watch it

the fact you faggots put deadpool in your lists shows what a fucking joke this board is

>what films do you guys like then?

The wailing, The witch, Under the shadows, Your name

Fight me

i love these kinds of horrible images

You must be absolute retard if you think is a joke image. Stay plebeian, capeshit eater.

>no green room

GR was a really bad film. Watch more films.

yeah but this board says that about basically any films thats ever been released

unlike you who literally went to imdb and saw a 2016 list and watched them all without any sort of critical thinking

the point of it is is dumbly dumping pictures of movies and then expecting people to say anything about it

>Rogue one?... A movie for kids? fucking lol
>Arrival, Shin whatever, etc... wtf honestly
>La La Land... okay, I hate musicals, but I can respect people that love that genre.
>don't care about the rest
Seriously, what a shitty list, and what a shitty year for the industry.

The least you could do is disguise your bait by naming something you think is better
What site is this?

Give me one fucking reason you waste your time with empty modern films when you haven't yet seen all the good/great/masterpieces already out there from years past?

>unlike you who literally went to imdb and saw a 2016 list and watched them all without any sort of critical thinking
Says the guy parroting La La Land crap and The Nice Guys, fucking rofl. I don't know what's in IMDB 2016 list but I'd be suprised if any of the films I listed are in there. Maybe CoS and that's it.

this looks nice but is fucking terrible

knight of cups is awful, and BvS being on there at all is hilarious

also
>the young pope
>movie

>knight of cups is awful.
filtered

what? i didn't do any of that

keep talking to your imaginary anonymous

so what did you enjoy from this year, user?

although I like that you respect why people would enjoy La La Land because I imagine most of the hate comes from people just not enjoying musicals

you've got to be joking, David Yates butchered the characters so bad, Ron turns into a wining faggots, in the last 4(5) films, he made Order of the Phoenix and Half blood prince boring as fuck, I could not watch those movies since he is so out of touch with Harry potter, the only good film in that series was Prisoner of Azkaban, J.K rowling and WB fucked the series up by hiring David Yates just to save money, they should have kicked David Yates and just rebooted harry potter instead of making fucktastic beasts.

Link your list then, embryo. Let see what kind of IMDB/MC drone we have here.

I'm pretentious because I don't care about utter shit films Hollywood pushes? Hah.

nocturnal animals, the witch, neon demon and Batman v Superman were my best of the year.

Didn't see much to be honest.

how do i be as cool as you user?

>I'm 16 and have superior taste

I already gave the advice, it is to watch more films and generate an actual taste.

thanks user! i can't wait to be as cool as you and have a truly patrician taste in films unlike these "normies" who like to have fun

sure

seventh here is the bride of rip van winkle for reference

Well that's as embryo as they come. Hilarious that you think I wouldn't know Bride (which was a below mediocre film anyways).
I can't comprehend how can you pretend to have fun watching bad films like La La Land or Arrival.

What made La La Land bad?

And while I enjoyed Arrival I didn't think it was really special or interesting, it was quite bland in general desu

>Hilarious that you think I wouldn't know Bride .

it wasn't for you, you massive self-absorbed bumblefuck, it was for literally anyone else in this thread because people come here to see what movies were good, not a vague image with screenshots of movies they haven't seen and have no names so they never will

when you grow up you'll realize there's a huge communal aspect to filmwatching and pitting your own taste aggressively against others just makes you seem really insecure

>pitting your own taste aggressively against others just makes you seem really insecure
the plebs need to be scolded for shit taste.

Shame the movie sucked until the final 5-10 minutes.

or youre just a massive self centered prick who's so insecure and jaded that he cant enjoy anything even slightly mainstream

I have absolutely no idea what is mainstream and what is not (in terms of how much they make in box office, how popular they are at IMDB or Metacritic, of course I realize Weerasethakul is way less known than Villeneuve). I really don't give a shit. It just so happens that 100% of Hollywood mainstream cinema as made accordingly to the lowest common denominator to appeal to many people as possible, resulting in safe, bland, artless cash cow films for the studio system. Seen one seen 'em all.

>prick
>self-centered
>insecure
Don't know what you are on about, I just laugh at your shit taste tqbhqwhy.
