Why hasn't anyone bothered turning creepypasta/SCP stories into movies?

Why hasn't anyone bothered turning creepypasta/SCP stories into movies?

The best creepyshit far surpasses 99% of the horror Hollywood regularly churns out.

The Bye Bye Man is your average creepypasta shit

we got a tv series tho

I wouldn't mind an anthology SCP series.
Sounds like profitable Netflix fodder for 20 something year old girls and their thralls.

Because of the creative commons license. Can't make money off ANY of it

user NO!!

The new Max Landis show on syfy is exactly that
Pretty sure that's why the show diverged so much from the creepypasta

That pic reminded me of a cool animated video I saw that I thought would make a good creepy movie.

Insidious is a shitty ripoff of one of the most popular pastas "Butcherface"

we're getting a containment breach movie
the project is still alive, but shit is fucking slow

There's a shitload of movies that do this. There's a bunch of slenderman ripoffs, the landis bullshit, the smiley Sup Forums movie, 300 billion "say their name and they appear behind you" clones, etc.

>Insidious
I meant Sinister. Forgive me for getting these generic horror titles mixed.

fuck off back to your containment board

Because that shit only works in text when you can imagine it all in your head.

They would be awful when you throw in all the dialogue, scenery, characters, angles, lighting, filler, backstory, etc that would be needed for a movie. It's de completely different than the way you imagine it in your head and it'd turn out terrible.

THE FAP FAP FÀM

They should do one about that elevator game that japs do. The one that killed that woman

I know the one on the left but what does the one on the right come from?

I'd rather have a lovecrsft cinematic universe where the world is slowly destroyed on all fronts, which eventually leaves it in an eternal conflict.

>Why hasn't anyone bothered turning creepypasta/SCP stories into movies?
They did.

DON'T THINK IT DON'T SPRAY IT.

Yo u got somthing against Btl Joose man fuck u men

the wassup walker

The adios amigo

The Cheerio Chap

the See Ya Later Sir

They did. Remember Slender man? Exactly.

The Farewell Fellow

The Sayonara Senpai

The Best Regards Bro

The Buongiorno Bimbo

Is the left from anything or is it just a picture

The TTYL Boi

Cause chasing internet fads to make movies is stupid. By the time you can get production for the movie underway the fad is dying, and by the time it comes out it's painfully out of date.

I know /x/philes think these memes are timeless but they really aren't.

It's a creepypasta about some scientists that figure out they can go to an alternate dimension through a mirror or something and they send some test subjects to go through it. I forgot the name of it though.

Are you stupid? Google shit before asking questions. There's now a TV show and a few movies based on spooky pastas and a SCP script is in the works.

There have been some low budget films for things like midnight game, but that's also more of a creepy concept that has some staying power because it's a universal fear of the dark and letting your brain run wild.

the fuck off faggot

The Greetings Gringo

non autistic people under 20 don't know what about copypasta let alone care about them

OoooOOO poorly written blocks of text, fucking spooky

What the fuck are you even trying to say with this? Take a fucking second and proof read what you type you fucking mongoloid.

That's a pretty neat idea. I mean you would have so much to work with

The SeeYa CIA
The Baddy Bad Bane
The Maskusumthin Masketta
The Spin Spin Sith

retard

There's nothing in the CC3 license that says you're not allowed to make a profit off adaptations. The summary explicitly points out that you can use the work commercially. The only thing is you have to share your adaptation with the same terms, so you can't get all uptight about fanart and pirate copies of your film.

Reminders me of this super legit SCP tv intro animation

Vhs and vhs 2 give creepy vibes. Watch alone in the dark.

The Peace My Nigga

They made a tv series out of it.

And it turned out to be boring as fuck.

Wasn't Jon Favreau going to make one?

SCP would be really hard to do well.

Part of what makes it so good is that each entry is written like a scientific report. It helps with making shit seem more real, and the cold, unemotional text is pretty eerie in its own right. A movie or TV show won't be able to capture that.

SCP is literally TOO GOOD to ever be satisfactorily made into a movie, show, game, etc.

simply nothing could do it justice.

I could see it work from the pov of first contact containment teams. You get the ominous foreshadowing of the dangers in their briefing, and the action of fighting it.

The CG budget would be insane though, and I don't see how you could keep a long term cast without some intense plot armour.

these posts are correct. Plus the more you read the better you can see the whole picture. Stories always motion atleast one other SCP, knowing what they mention without having to look it up makes it feel authentic.

I agree with this. How would they do all the [REDACTED] stuff at all? Just bleeping constantly? Would get old. I could see SCP making on decent short film but a series? I'm doubtful it could work

favorite scps?

Mine is the red liquid pond that grows in density as it gets deeper. That entire plot is so cash.

I like that tower that really loves humanity.

because its not something you can easily deliver over a full length feature film and maintain atmosphere and couple it with a good story. This is why most horror films are dog shit, because they pad a good idea out for an hour and a half and it just doesnt work. look at lights out. its like 2 minutes long and it works as just a creepy short film. Then look at the movie where they draw it out and fill it with unnecessary story and filler and it does nothing but bore everyone.

Horror works best as short stories of a couple minutes to maybe 15-20 minutes at max. Obviously there are a few good ones out there that work and are consistently creepy or well made. But theres a reason there are far less classic horror films that are as revered as any other genre of film. Cult classics don't count. I mean genuinely good horror movies

Which one?

Didn't Slenderman get a movie too?

The Adios Amigo

the toaster

This is how you end up with Smiley and Safety Not Guaranteed
Box office poison

Stranger Things

For 12 year olds. Adults think it is gay shit.

SCP nowadays got too much objects. It's getting ridiculous and hurts suspension of disbelief. At this time you can't walk down the street without meeting a couple of objects

This
A premise where a regular guy loses his job and struggles to help his family stay afloat is way more scary than creepypasta horse shit.

I was teamed up with another SAR officer because we'd received reports of bears in the area. We were looking for a guy who hadn't come home from a climbing trip when he was supposed to, and we ended up having to do some serious climbing to get to where we figured he'd be. We found him trapped in a small crevasse with a broken leg. It was not pleasant. He'd been there for almost two days, and his leg was very obviously infected. We were able to get him into a chopper, and I heard from one of the EMTs that the guy was absolutely inconsolable. He kept talking about how he'd been doing fine, and when he'd gotten to the top, a man had been there. He said the guy had no climbing equipment, and he was wearing a parka and ski pants. He walked up to the guy, and when the guy turned around, he said he had no face. It was just blank. He freaked out, and ended up trying to get off the mountain too fast, which is why he'd fallen. He said he could hear the guy all night, climbing down the mountain and letting out these horrible muffled screams. That story bothered the hell out of me. I'm glad I wasn't there to hear it.

>SAR officer

A wut

search and rescue

OK, but why did you post that here?

>implying any of this stuff is interesting or original

There's no money in the handful of nerds circlejerking over amateur writing. Horror is churned out every year.

>SCP is literally TOO GOOD to ever be satisfactorily made into a movie, show, game, etc.
It used to be good, but right now it's being slowly turned into something else.

Starting to see shit like Mx being used instead of Mr or Ms in some articles, and there's a serious push to turn 110-Montauk into a tea party.

for your personal entertainment

I've thought about it. I think they could make a TV show, 45 minutes per episode and make 2-3 stories per episode. Most creepypastas are average at best, but it could work, campy horror is always entertaining.

Favorite pasta?
Mine is NoEnd House

is that an ajin?

go to bed pink guy shitposter

Man I didn't know people were still talking about scp
I always liked the funnier ones like the street or alleywall that takes you into another dimension. It just looks like an ordinary street but no one has ever returned from it or something like that

The creepiest movie ever is a half hour story full of bad jokes about Thomas the tank engine using crappy CGI.

Oh fuck yeah, Shed 19 or something right?

Because writing is really difficult and getting a movie made is even more difficult.

Shed 17

For anyone who hasn't seen it, here is true horror.

youtube.com/watch?v=462KBuAhncU

They made a "Russian Sleep Experiment" short film, and now the same group that made that are raising money for a feature-length version.

Here's their YouTube page:

And here's the IndieGoGo if you really feel like contributing to it:

I think some SCPs could work out due to the atmosphere, but you'd have to present it as video logs of research and exploration.

The story with the stone that changes colors and takes people to an alternative world has great atmosphere, but if you take away all of the descriptions that make you take in the mood you get like 5 minutes of story.

I'd really dig an adaptation of that SCP that is a huge spiral descending staircase with a child's cry at the bottom
