>tfw finding out Lawrence of Arabia and Fifty Shades of Grey were casted by the same woman

masterpieces

That's a long as fuck carrer, i wonder if behind the scene jobs lamae+a9 2

Af

it means he's desperate to fuck so he'll sink into giving credit to women when it isn't due
the only credit a woman should get is successfully giving birth, which only requires not fucking drinking or doing drugs

first film i looked up was the godfather and nope

> that Conan interview where Timothy Olyphant tells the world that Patton Oswalt was a dick on the set of Justified.

>I ran spell check on Stephen King's latest novel. That means I wrote it!
Hm.

I mistyped. I meant they were both edited by the same woman.
imdb.com/name/nm0167613/?ref_=ttfc_fc_cr6

so do people think the director just hands the editor the footage and fucks off? he is directing the edit the entire way and right in there.

>tfw you have autism and can't tell they were all joking since Conan is friends with Patton, and Olyphant is also friends with Patton.

what about plastic bottles?

>there are people this fucking deluded
There is no hope for humanity

I heard Patton directed his wife to Fentanyl.

>people tell me those interviews with conan and tim are funny
>some of the most staged unfunny, forced and lame inteviews I have ever seen
Never listen to Sup Forums

Jackie Chan edited a lot of his movies, so no, fuck you, you ugly unfunny fag

oh my fucking god

Does anyone remember that guy's first comedy albums? The fucking abortion jokes, the race jokes, the rape and sexual abuse jokes... he was legitimately "edgy", and now he's barely above Daily Show level.

His dead wife must have pegged him into submissiveness.

I don't know if I'm just that much of a misogynist, but I just had a look and that statement is true for literally none of my favorite movies.

I remember there was a time when he wasn't a pussywhipped SJW squawking self flagellating shit. Is it a false memory?

No, see

Isn't that how most of them are.
Every time you look in the past of someone who is very liberal you always find edgy and racist shit.
That is why they are so loud. They are trying to atone.

I want to be paid to be a siw

That women don't create, they just nitpick and tweak what a man made so they can stamp their name on it. Seems quite offensive of him to say.

women can be detail oriented and often artistic, the original role of an editor was mostly busywork, slicing and splicing film is tedious. Now it's digital but still tedious. I think mommy may be better at mediating between conflicting artistic visions and act as a final decider nobody can be too upset with.

Movies are broken and made in editing, but the director, producers, studio, get the final say on the cut.

Patton Oswalt murdered his wife.

people talk about how millions of dollars are being spent on paid shills.
Ill shill anything if you paid me, where do you sign up?

Not really. A film lives or dies by its editing.

thats not how editing works idiot

he likes to suck womans titties in order to get some new puss since he fucked up and killed his wife

>that moment he sucks lexi alexanders cock over punisher:war zone

truly beta

...

The fucking drug cocktail she was taking was pretty obvious to be a ticking timebomb.

usatoday.com/story/life/people/2017/02/04/patton-oswalt-heart-condition-meds-killed-wife-michelle-mcnamara/97486318/

>The blockages, combined with her taking the medications Adderall, Xanax and the pain medication fentanyl, caused his wife’s death in April 2016, Oswalt said in the statement sent via his publicist.

Prescription Meth and Heroin. If a Doctor prescribed her all that shit at once he should be facing prison time.

>Adderall, Xanax and the pain medication fentanyl
>mixed with alcohol ofc

Goddamn son I don't even exceed the reccomended doses on a bottle of nasal spray. What the fuck is wrong with these people.
Poor kid has to deal with a mom who was probably such a fucking zombie before she died from constant drug abuse that she was dead weeks before her body finally quit. Not only that, this fucking miserable pathetic fuck of a father who cares more to make fun of James Rolfe and Donald Trump than to take care of her.

I'm literally a nobody but even I could tell that combo is a recipe for disaster.

How can one man be so retarded? Where the fuck was her doctor?

Son of a bitch made me look

>amphetamine
>strong benzo
>the strongest opiate

>literally letting you wife live like this when you have a daughter

What a shitty husband, he could have stopped her death...
Also what a shitty way to pretend she didnt OD

Where is this bit from

Women were the first editors in Hollywood. Back then editting wasn't considered very important and it was considered secretarial work. They were the ones who developed many of the editting techniques and tricks used today

Most films are edited by men. The only films I can think of that are good and had a prominent female editor are the original star wars movies. That women also happened to be George Lucas's wife, who likely had a heavy hand in the movie's editing. She also worked with two highly regarded editors.

>guilt people into giving you an emmy
>dont have the stigma of divorce
>dont have to give up half of your stuff
>daughter wont hate you

>got rid of the ugly bitch wife

Its a win win win win situation for Patton

Man, I thought it was at least half true, but I'm actually having trouble finding a significant amout of movies edited by women.

I dont get it
How is this good for women?

If a woman edited a movie well, only a vocal minority or actually going to care.
Turning it into a man vs woman thing has to cause more problems than it solves right?

hes trying to say that he killed his wife and got away with it

Ssh. Just let them have this.

...

ok

The woman who took this photo of Paris going to jail also took the photo of the vietnam war naked girl running

kek

>a year, two ago tops he was defending some comic for making a jew joke on twitter
>now just has daily meltdowns on it
I guess being married to a junkie and her dying leaving you to be a single parent takes a tole.

Thats a pretty good career desu

i'm pretty sure editors are just people who know how to expertly use editing software.

not people that actually give any creative input to directors

such as?

>Maybe if I virtue signal hard enough I'll find another woman to watch die of drug overdose

that's probably one of the reasons 50 shades was so shit (ONE of the reasons)
>She hadn't worked in 5 years
>classic film editor
>like 80
>trying to edit using an nle
Dead on arrival. It's a surprise the editing isn't more shit considering

Congo is an extremely underrated movie

My first exposure to him was on 2 and a half men
I'm pretty sure he'd call that show a racist, misogynistic extension of society's rape culture if it were still airing

Every time Scorcese wants to win Oscars he works with this female editor
imdb.com/name/nm0774817

>Raging Bull
>Goodfellas
>Aviator
>Shutter Island
>Silence
>The Wolf of Wall Street
>The Departed
>The Aviator
>Gangs of New York

Impressive desu

sure thing champ

:o

>it must be the editor
no one ever

>not mentioning Casino
what an utter pleb

A bed edit will ruin a movie

sure. but how irreplaceable an editor really is? does an editor do anything on his own or he takes detailed instructions on how to edit a movie from a director?

its not? when did it end?

so if a man edits a movie directed by a woman the man actually directed it?

Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino are the only directors that come to mind who worked with prominent female editors. I know John Carpenters films were sometimes produced by his girlfriend who also helped with the screenplays occasionally. Her biggest influence was on The Fog which is amazing

But other than that its a pretty thin field. Womens skills are much more valuable in the makeup, costume, set design and casting departments and thats totally fine because they do amazing work usually

Female directors are a meme

>tfw my favorite movies were edited by the director who was a man

""""""""directors""""""""" who hand off the editing process to other people are not directors

>""""""""directors""""""""" who hand off the editing process to other people are not directors

Thats because you've never directed anything. So you don't understand why these two functions are separate.

A woman was one of the editors in Apocalypse Now.

user the best directors know how to edit a scene and film it

Are you dense? They are the ones that actually assemble the movies.

>it's a "Sup Forums hates popular hilarious comedians because they're all edgy underage" episode
>Patton Oswalt is more successful than any of the cretins ITT can ever hope to be
Really sparked my charcoal.

Individuals shills are paid poorly.

>editors are really directors
>an overdoes is really a suicide

Thanks for clearing that up, Patton

David Lynch used Mary Sweeney as editor while they were married.

In most cases the editing process is never something that escapes the directors control entirely. They are usually dictating what the editor does on every step. Thats why some directors use the same editor multiple times, because the editor knows exactly what the director wants if theyve built a rapport together

Its not the same for someone like a DP, who the director may give ideas but at the end of the day they will trust the expert on what looks good.

>people are only allowed to criticise people as or less successful than they are
>successful people are all successful because of natural talent and not because of contacts/being at the right place at the right time

Nobody here said they hate Patton Oswalt.

We just know that he actually murdered his wife and we cant let him get away with it

Do you find it difficult to dickride fat manlets?

What if I just don't like comedians who preach politics?

Joke's on you, Soylent Green is one of my favourite movies and was edited by a man.

Such a disgusting looking cuck.

Every piece of clothing designed by a man is sown by a woman.
It's a menial task for the talentless.

>a bloo bloo bloo stop making fun of my lame hero

The same way Bill Burr is going nowadays.

That can't be true, considering the person who took the napalm girl photo was a man

>hilarious

Best thing that fag ever did was Spence on King of Queens.

A good editor is left alone by a good director usually produces a good film. If a good editor is helicoptered by a good or bad director it's usually shit.

Never mind dude, you're right. It wasn't a woman though, it was Nick Ut.

Yes, every director should know how to edit a scene, and most of them do. But that's not what we are talking about. We are talking about directing it and then instantly jumping in the edit and doing it yourself.

Besides the post-production depression there is always a massive issue where the director is to close to the material and has lost his subjectivity. The editor comes in, not because the director is a 'hack' or 'fraud' or whatever you wanna call it, but because he has a fresh pair of eyes.

#JusticeForMcNamara

>be close to exposing the LA county police involvement with the east area killings and subsequent corruption and cover up
>die from a drug cocktail overdose

And its acting, cinematography, set design, etc.

A movie lives or dies by a lot of things.

Yeah, they literally do everything! How can that user be so fucking retarded as to not understand the importance of having a female editor?

Do you think directors just shoot scenes for the fun of it?
The director usually has a clear idea on how the scenes flow together and in what order.
The editor first tells the director if what the director wants is even possible with the material supplied, and then does what the director tells him to do.
The editor does not take random scenes and make a coherent movie out of them.

>Do you think directors just shoot scenes for the fun of it?
Romero did this with dawn of the dead
ridley also did this with blade runner except he shot a bunch of scenes he thought looked cool, it was a real mess putting it all together into a comprehensive movie

Tarantino films?

(You)

Wow, two directors did it with two movies?
Must be a fucking industry standard.
