not really, obviously my dad loves all the same movies and I have started watching TCM with my mom since she hasn't seen most of these "classics". With friends it just always depends on the context of trying to watch them. For example last year I was living in a frat house with 9 other guys. That isn't the kind of situation to say, hey bros lets all sit down together and watch Lawrence of Arabia or Ran or The Apartment. However I got a buddy who I have introduced to Kurosawa who loves to come over, hang out, and watch them. Certain contexts and environments give themselves to watching classic or older movies. I'm sure if all my buddies in that house watched these movies alone and in the right environment they would love them or at least appreciate them.

2. Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat As Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade Peter Brook, 1967
3. On the Marriage Broker Joke as Cited by Sigmund Freud in Wit and Its Relation to the Unconscious, or Can the Avant-Garde Artist Be Wholed? Owen Land, 1977
4. Othon, or: Eyes Do Not Want to Close at All Times, or, Perhaps One Day Rome Will Allow Herself to Choose in Her Turn Jean-Marie Straub & Danièle Huillet, 1970
5. Réfutation de tous les jugements, tant élogieux qu’hostiles, qui ont été jusqu’ici portés sur le film “La Société du spectacle” Guy Debord, 1975

10. The Fable of the Throbbing Genius of a TankTown Who Was Encouraged by Her Folks Who Were Prominent Richard Foster Baker, 1916
That sounds nice, it is hard to find someone to share taste for classics though, I've managed to introduce my parents into some good film but most of my friends are happy watching absolute crap.
