this shit right here my nigga
I've been thinking about this a lot.
I'm almost looking forward to the day that he dies because people will just post everything he's every done. He's done SO many iconic tunes you actually start to forget which ones he's done.
TICK TOCK TICK TOCK
There's only like 5 maybe 6 original music that this hack produces. The rest are just slightly tweaked rehashes of his own work. All his compositions sound the same. InB4 muh leitmotif.
DELET THIS
(You)

My favorite from the last decade or so, pretty underrated.
Can't fucking wait. One less old white guy unjustly dominating the industry.
youtube.com
always one of my personal favs of his
his death is going to be unbearable
normies who think they are the biggest fans just because they have heard the raiders theme and imperial march
And Jaws, and E.T. and Jurassic Park, and Harry Potter
BEST WILLIAMS COMING THROUGH
I hope he fucking dies soon.
He supposedly made the soundtrack for TFA, but there's literally not a single memorable tune in it.
The man is spent.
The Last Crusade is the best Indy film, and its easy to guess why

Let's get the obvious ones out of the way.
hell be fine
Growing up I always loved the Star Trek films a lot more than other people. Later I started to realize that I care about the music as much if not more than the movie. A good movie with a bad soundtrack is a bad movie for me.
Star Trek the Motion Picture is a so-so movie, but the score is the lead of the film. Sit back and watch some chill space stuff while John Williams does his thing, nothing better. That soundtrack is fucking perfect. It's so good that some cuts of the movie start with a black screen and just the intro music, and it makes the film even better to start it that way.
i love this movie
Is there anyone as influential as him in film scores?
Jerry Goldsmith wrote the score to that you fucking fag.
Max Steiner, Erich Korngold, Alfred Newman, they laid the blueprints for the Hollywood sound.
What was his infuence really?
The Battlefront II feels at 2:26, fuck.
I Unironically think the prequels were GOAT when it came to soundtracks:

But this will always be my favorite:

from 5:05 onward is probably my favourite SW tune
One of my favorite scores of his is the OST for The Lost World, its fucking great and better than the firsts.

Tchaikovsky obviously
He's a mostly shit, incredibly overrated composer.
Not even b8ing.
This played in the movie too but this is the particular bit of the full song I like the most.

You have shit taste. He's one of the only good ones and his romantic style is goat.

I mean who did he influence? His music was always kinda generic.
>generic
I meant derivative.
John Williams is at least 40% of all movies he makes music for.
Anyone who likes his music. It isn't that generic. Just because he sometimes uses the same arrangements doesn't mean his music doesnt work in different settings
this shit was a tense scene but the score made it 11/10
>Anyone who likes his music
When someone talks about an influence of a composer it is implied that he's talking about influence on other composers and not audiences.
This thread is making me emotional, good work OP
>that cheeky "When You Wish Upon a Star" ending
The entire Close Encounters is great in that Williams he wrote a lot of atonal parts throughout. He really left his comfort level on it.
DELET THIS NOW
>idiot doesn't understand leitmotifs
>idiot hasn't researched how deis irae is quoted into the music
>idiot doesnt understand the importance of Rey's them
user please.
Kino
Williams was my neighbor in Alpine, Utah for 10 years.
He is a pervert, my dad caught him looking in my moms windows.
He also hates dogs.
He was also raised Jewish, and his dad's ex-wife married Michael Dukakis.
His biological Jewish father writes pro-gay propaganda books.
I agree, TLW is such an underrated movie, and has a great soundtrack. I know it's not perfect, and it's probably childhood nostalgia that makes me love it so much, but I still do.
As for soundtracks though, Bear McCreary is one of my favorite composers, especially his Battlestar Galactica OSTs.
Also, Michael Giaccino, and the L O S T soundtracks are great too.
proofs
Listen to this, and then listen to the Star Wars soundtracks:
It doesn't sound good or memorable at all.
Take your pseudo-intellectualism and shove it up your ass.
>see john williams thread
>it doesn't end in "He's dead"
Just another great day!
He had some great TV tunes that really captured the ideas of the shows they were for.
LOST IN SPACE

This one rocks too.
LAND OF THE GIANTS
youtu.be
It's one of his Stravinsky bits but I love it so much. The female choir is great.
>overrated
When will retards realise this isn't actually a criticism.
It's not September 28th 2017 yet.
TFA soundtrack was nominated for an oscar but none of the prequel was....wtf is that shit?
That just proves how good he is, if contrarian attention whores can only claim that he is overrated to discredit him.
It was pretty much just a reward nomination to John Williams for his career, especially now that he is old and doesn't do much stuff anymore.
When the prequels he was still consistently good, he got oscar nominations for other movies he did in those years:
>1999
Angela's Ashes
>2002
Catch me if you can
>2005
Munich and Memoirs of a Geisha
also:
>TFA soundtrack was nominated for an oscar but The Revenant and Mad Max weren't
>Official list of things that were never good yet manchildren ruffle their neckbeards at eachother over them and suck eachother's dicks about them when their neckbeards match

Probably the most underrated piece in Star Wars:

The theme at 0:59 is underrated too. I find it very iconic, and yet it's rarely played.

patrician taste all around
I was at a hipster warehouse party years ago and somebody had bought a bunch of CDs off of a crack head on the street. One of them was the Jurrasic Park soundtrack. A friend thought it would be funny to put it on on repeat during the party. Somewhere on the third cycle it struck me that I really liked the theme.
Jesus Christ thought that said John Williams dies at 85
Do you think mofern conposers don't like gis star wars, jurassic oark, indiana jones ir hp soundtracks. Let alone et, haws or superman
Who hasn't he influenced he has made the most iconic soundtracks that made the films
