I thought the "angry black man" thing wasn't okay anymore?
DENZEL VIOLA
WASHINGTON DAVIS
fences in large part about the cultural environment of a particular neighborhood in pittsburgh with a rather distinctive economic and social history. it's a very difficult play to produce effectively.
>fences in large part about the cultural environment of a particular neighborhood in pittsburgh
As a dumb Pittsburgher who likes seeing his second tier city onscreen what are the essential Pittsburghcore movies? I got:
Dawn of the Dead
Fences
Out of the Furnace
Jack Reacher
Sudden Death
Dogma
Dark Knight Rises
The deer hunter
how does one person both act and direct a movie? how does that work?
Only Denzel and Morgan can play the angry black man really well.
I liked how it was like a stage play but the ending was goofy as fuck
The Sunset Limited too
They let the DP do all the camera work and occasionally tell another actor to do something
>occasionally tell another actor to do something
That was all the character did the whole movie too
No one on this board is going to understand this movie. It's for black people.
Fellow dumb yinzer here
Warrior
Love & Other Drugs
Next Three Days
Hell you can just wiki the rest
That's some method acting right there. 10/10 Denzel
The short story was pretty good.
how long into the movie did they say "swing for the fences"?
I haven't seen it but I'm assuming the white man was keeping him down so the only way he could get out of the ghetto was by stealing fences
never once
>It's for black people.
No black person will never understand the movie either.
It's alright. Really well acted. About 20 minutes too long.
What didn't you get, OP? Troy was a complex human being, who brought both good and bad into this world and couldn't be easily dismissed, at the end
Are you telling me they voted differently than every other black neighborhood in America?
If not, then what the fuck are you saying?
Washington Davis is a great jazz name
Is that really it?
OP here, i guess what i was wondering was whether the play had more drive to it. The performances were obviously top notch and they managed to make it very watchable, but it really dragged as a narrative, especially in the second half.
The play is better read than seen.
Ehhh. James Earl Jones was in the original cast I believe: youtube.com
And?
>James Earl Jones means its good
why is Star Wars such cack then?
