This is the only show I can think of that is universally loved by Sup Forums with zero to no dissent. How is that?

I see people that didn't like it because she slept with a black man in the first season. Also she was in love with him.

Because Sup Forums is actually 100% reddit now and they like anything new set in the 80's.

The show's not particularly popular on reddit though. It's also not 80s nostalgia with synth pop and all this bullshit like Stranger Things but a realistic, rather bleak 80s setting.

That's funny. I'm about done with the first season and I think it is garbage.

Oh... in that case I don't know. I only watched the first episode and hated it. Using that Phil Collins song was cheap.

I hate the americans

There is also malcolm in the middle, curb your enthusiasm, american dad,LOST and the sopranos

bump

You're so shit.

This is one of the best shows currently airing.

Get over yourself.

Lost has detractors.

Myself included. To the point where I'm triggered to see it with those others shows you listed

it's a regular bait and switch show, too many hints at loving gender equality and excessively honest pillow talk.

It has a QT milf and a QT daughter, occasional feet scenes, what more could we ask for?

What a shitty OP. You could've raised that opinion in the comments.

He's living the life.

There are dissenters but the series is to smart for them

Anyway last season was fucking kino tier, wew

It's been the bridge from the post-Mad Men Golden Age of Television into the Platinum Age as heralded in by the Young Pope

>hating Phil Collins
>Sup Forums loves American Psycho

I could listen to Christian Bale talk about music for hours.

>swn train you to kill

>ywn have to break a dead "operative" limbs to stick her in a suitcase to sneak her corpse out of a hotel without suspicion

I hope Martha is okay since she was best girl but I'll always worry for her since what happened to Nina.

The problem, not unlike Mad Men, is how the show is sometimes marketed. People see ads like these and assume it's a sexy swinging spy adventure rather than a political/character study.

>political/character study
excuse for when a show stagnates

Right, you don't actually watch it.

Just marathoned the latest season. Very fucking hyped for the next.

Such a great show.

The episode w/ the timeskip was extraordinary, one of the year's best. Could have been a series finale.

Reminder that there 23 episodes left.

They are going to add to the title sequence this upcoming season right? That's always fun for me.

That scene when Philip REKT Paige telling her that she respects jesus but not her parents

>They are going to add to the title sequence this upcoming season right?

Wait, what do you mean? Hasn't it always had it?

What will become of Phillip's adult son? Should be interesting.

Best scene from season 4.

They have updated it as the show has gone on.

Reminder to check out Deutschland 83 in the interim. A companion series of sorts.

ASIP is also a contender.

Seemed like a smart show with an interesting premise.

I couldn't get past the first episode.

I haven't kept up. Timeskip episode? What was it about?

Because you never watched Justified?

I love it but it needs to start drawing toward it's conclusion. It's starting to drag on for the sake of TV rather than the story. Glad they're ending it at season 6, but I hoped season 5 would be the last.

Got something like a month to catch up user.

Would you?

Justified was a legit perfect show.
Great writing, acting and comfy. I miss it so much.

She has something about her, so yeah sure.

She downplays her sexuality by acting demure and presenting herself as frumpy so when you get to see the real her it's go time.

Because it's not popular with the average internet user = no redditors shitting up threads = no edgy contrarian "oldfags" (who else been here since 2012 xD) trying to distance themselves from redditors by saying they don't like the show. This is the same reason why Mad Men threads used to be good.

ahhHHAAAHAAAAAA RAYYYYMUND GIBBONS

I was awake at 4'o clock in the morning one time and we had a Mad Men thread shift into an Americans thread that was actually quite pleasant.

she's really not that ugly, just average

and yes

>malcolm in the middle,curb your enthusiasm,american dad

They're sitcoms. Anyone who likes a sitcom is too dumb to process anything more complex than a laugh track.

The show lost me when an entire organization of people who specialize in manipulating human behavior suddenly think telling a normal adolescent girl that everything shes ever known is a lie wouldn't have any sort of consequences. Then acting like said consequences were totally unpredictable and shocking.

She honestly turns me on more than Elizabeth for just this reason.

>ywn have a waifu that reads the kamasutra and is always caring

I can't recall her ever really getting uppity or anything other than her finding out about Phillip.

Are the gay characters in this show annoying or bearable?

>doesn't remember that kid killing his whole family for no reason other than just this
>doesn't remember Paige specifically acting out and telling Pastor Tim

That family's handler was in a romantic relationship with the kid but I really doubt she would have pushed him into that.

What indicated those events were forgotten?

She turns you on because shes ugly enough that you think shes accessible.

She still wouldn't touch you

I know that...

They're fine. i don't think it's a cheap addition, but actually makes sense story wise.

Except it's fucking awful.

Except it's not, so i fucking got you

Not as transcendent as The Americans, but a solid watch

The americans is just about as low as I'm willing to go on the quality scale.

I mean, what other shows do you watch?

Besides Sopranos/Mad Men/The Wire, The Americans ranks w/ the best of them.

Faux prestige television need not apply (see: The Affair, Bloodline, Rectify)

>too dumb to process anything more complex than a laugh track.
>none of the quoted shows use a laugh track

...

The Wire is the definition of "faux prestige"

Average looks but kinky so yes

>ywn have her mount your lap, look you over, suck her face

You may think that because you're only familiar with its vast influence on lesser, more contemporary media

...

I like The Americans a lot but The Knick, Young Pope and Fargo are obectively superior
Americans is still "high tier" though, just not on the same level as those aforementioned, dare I say, telekinos

you think wrong. I got bored after 2 episodes. I don't fucking care about cold war spyshit. (although i like Man in the high castle spy plot)

But then she rediscovered the sweet Soviet's meat flavor.

The Knick has absolute genius direction, photography, editing, set and costume design, acting, lighting, score, and abysmal stale scripting, it deserved so much better.

Couldn't get into the tone of Fargo, seemed too Coens-lite. Quirky "black humor" w/o the skill.

The Young Pope is brilliant.

...

God i miss stargate.

I've been on Sup Forums for 8 years and always ridiculed waifushitters, but I think Lenny might just be the one for me. That smug fucking grin just makes me smile every time I think about it. Thank you based Sorrenkino.

>The Americans takes place during the late 80s.

>It could've taken place during the 50s and gone off of a much more elaborate spy angle instead of "We are a dysfunctional middle class family" angle.

This is the show's biggest, most glaring flaw.

Name 5 (five) settings more patrician than the cold war era.

Odd criticism amigo

>This series would be better if it was completely different from this series

The lessons, and dread, of the cold war are more apt than ever right now.

I saw it as a callback/cheeky nod to Miami Vice for whatever reason

youtube.com/watch?v=8YH8MCtxppo

youtube.com/watch?v=E1o-NWNmQLM

both scenes are similar and occur in the pilot of both shows

>The dread of the cold war was greatest in the 80s

What and when is the cuban missile crisis

Didnt say it was the greatest, but it was only 30 years ago, and has extraordinary ramifications to our current global and political circumstances. It is the era from which we were born, or our parents came of age.

You can't do 60s family drama anymore because of Mad Men

And you're right, the 50s were and remain fertile for stories dealing w/ that stuff, but there exists a lot already. Rod Serling alone mined it to great effect for The Twilight Zone, Carol for Another Christmas, and Seven Days in May. Also Strangelove, Fail-Safe, and a lot more.

>The Amejaicans
what did they mean by this?

>what did they mean by this

What did you mean by this?

1. Pirates
2. Steampunk
3. Dieselpunk
4. Anything with zombies
5. Roaring '20s

That was easy, you just got smoked kiddo, go to bed.

What is some essencial Dieselpunk?

Does DeathRace 2000 count?

is this show just soft porn 90s skinemax style and doesn't have particularly good plot/writting its just that 99.9999% of tv shows are incredibly bad so this one stands out as great because its just ok?

C. None of the Above

I don't know where you got that, it's not sex-centric at all. It's more like a slightly worse version of Mad Men, but instead of the 60s it's the 80s and instead of being an ad guy the main character is a spy

Matthew Rhys' American accent is pretty flawless

yeah, but russian is shit

In the reality of the show you could say that he isn't used to speaking it, since he spent so much time trying to cover up his accent

id rather not make this a 'thing'
i enjoy the show, but if you make it a meme that everyone on Sup Forums loves it there will be a backlash that will ruin discussion of the show

How is this compared to Homeland? I tried that and didn't like it.

Homeland is a very shitty version of 24
Americans is a decent version of Mad Men

GOAT

No fucking way, she looks like a granny

It got a bit cringe worthy when the mom got all upset that the daughter wanted to become a Christian.

Other than that it's pretty damn good, even though I have no idea what's been going on with that one Russian chick the FBI neighbor was banging. I mean yeah she's still in every episode but I just don't know why or what it is she's even doing.

Better than season 2 and beyond of Homeland. I don't understand why they keep making that damn show. Should have quit at season 1.

What about the dad though?
>he didn't like, "YOU RESPECT JEEZUS BUT NOT US!?"

And Nina is there to bring in the waifuists.

>What about the dad though?
The dad eventually learned to deal with it tho, the mom is the one that stayed having a stick up her as about it.

>tfw FX president loves the show and it won't get cancelled and will have a proper ending

god bless that man

>>he didn't like, "YOU RESPECT JEEZUS BUT NOT US!?"
That line was really well acted. Why isn't Matthew Rhys more well-known?
