What branch of christianity should i convert to and why
Anything but Catholicism, Pentecostalism or Unitarianism.
Orthodoxy
>Unitarianism is christian.
southern baptist
orthodoxy is a meme church that would slobber putin's dick for shekels
The only correct answer is Orthodox Judaism.
>my fucking face when Americans come in to say Southern Baptist
Also avoid that one.

The one that speaks to your heart. Pray directly to Jesus every day while reading the Bible, for at least a week or two. Fast, if you wish. Go on a spiritual journey with God. He'll tell you which one is right for you.
15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
LCMS or SSPX

>meme church
...
My local United Methodist church is fucking great. They definitely believe in leading fulfilling Christian lives and doing something, instead of sitting around "praying the gay away" all day.
he thinks he's catholic! lol
your "orthodox" church was founded in 1054
I think he means it's become a meme on Sup Forums. But to be fair, it's probably because of the people who post:
>Hay guyz, I just converted to Orthodoxy becuz I heard dey hate da j000s!!!1
Personally, I was raised Protestant, so Orthodoxy feels like a foreign culture to me. I identify more strongly with sola scriptura, sola, and sola gratia. I prefer to keep a personal relationship with God above all else, and going to Church is just an accessory to that.
sola scriptura, sola fide, and sola gratia*
> cybele heretics with virtually(?) castrated priests in the image of attis
> god tier
Southern babptists are retarded white trash, im saying this as someone living in the deep south, i want to convert to a proper high church not that bullshit
okie doke.
enjoy your vanity.
As a Christian I'm wondering the same thing. I can't make myself go all the way Catholic but the closest thing is Episcopalian and they're all a bunch of liberal cucks.

You'd have a closer relationship with Jesus by receiving the Eucharist as a member of the Orthodox Church.
Well that's interesting considering we have relics much older than that and our last great council was in 787.

last i herd jewism wus were thes money is at
He's showing leadership for the rest of the Catholic world to follow by demonstrating true humility that transcends his ego as the Supreme Pontiff. The only one being cucked in this picture is Satan, and past popes who tried to build earthly kingdoms with their position and who tried to pass power to their kids, who broke their vows as priests, like the Borgias.
Lutheran
Catholic Church. Most coherent doctrine and historical claims if you do your research. But a lot of Catholics are freaking out at the moment at how pozzed the Pope and bishops are right now and are jumping over to the Orthodox Church. Honestly, I can't blame anyone for becoming Orthodox given the current state of the RCC.
Just believe in Jesus Christ. Pray at home. Every now and then break bread and drink some wine like Jesus did to remember him
Churches are pagan and they're not needed for Christianity.
Plus corrupt priests and sinister organizations will only hinder your spirituality
>not being Lutheran Protestant
Roman Catholicism
Arianism
You should visit around. And don't ignore protestant churches. Personally, the churches I know that are the closest to God are protestant ones. The Catholic, Orthodox, and other protestant denominations will call them crazy because they are butthurt that they are seeing more from God. I recommend Assemblies of God.
If they believe pope is infallible, they are trash. If they believe it is God's will for people to get sick or die, they are trash. If they don't believe in spiritual things or demons, they are trash. If they believe people can get into heaven on being good alone, they are trash. If they think it's okay to be gay, they are trash.
You should also be able to feel something when you are in a true church, it shouldn't just be another boring meetup done out of tradition.
what's wrong with Calvinism?
I tip my hat to you, Sir.
>mutilating the sacraments
>calling the Church that Christ built in Mt 16 pagan
Lord have mercy
All 5 points of Calvinism are disgusting heresies
Catholic.
Yes the the tone of the current Pope is jarring at times but he has never and will never proclaim heresy ex cathedra. Also he's not as liberal as all the sjw click bait head lines would have you believe.
Also above all the Catholic Church was created by Christ himself so there's that. Mathew 16:18
Still love you though Orthadox bros. As a Pope Saint John Paul the Great said. Yall are one of the two lungs of the Church.
>believing "the church" is an actual building and not believers in Christ
Modern day churches and just remnants of pagan babel buildings. Extravagant, hedonistic, expensive, but they lack godliness.
The earliest church we know of is dated to the 3rd century and looks nothing like a modern day church.
Early "churches" were just plain buildings or people's houses where they would discuss the gospels and Jesus and they would copy them down to spread the word.
There's not a single church or denomination that is anything like the first Christians
>double predestination
>not pants on head retarded herasy
Why are JWs bananas user?
Explain all the first and second century christian writings that discusses bishops and Apostolic succession then
Catholicism is the way to go and always has been. It is also under consistent attack both from without and within though the dogmas and doctrines will always hold fast.
“The Church is a perpetually defeated thing that always outlives her conquerers.” ― Hilaire Belloc
>There is no salvation outside of the Roman Catholic church
don't say you love them when you believe they're going to Hell.
Catholicism is an organization, nothing more. There's more atheist priests than there are atheists on the internet
Give me some sources and names
>The earliest church we know of is dated to the 3rd century and looks nothing like a modern day church.
That's because Christianity wasn't the official Roman religion until Constantine and before that the faithful were confined to the catacombs. That wasn't exactly an ideal situation you understand. And even if you're right that the Church body itself is the Church, you are not a part of that Church body unless you have been Chrismated by an Orthodox priest.
Acts 8:14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, 19 saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”
JWs are actually
This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”
Do the Popes have the gift of holy spirit today? Can they heal the sick? Can they bring back the dead? These miraculous gifts seem to have passed out of Christianity by about 200 CE. Merely parrotting 'apostolic succession' is not at all reliable, since their have been popes and antipopes, possibly female popes, and also in the early congregation the bishop(s) of Rome had no special significance. Peter spent most of his time in Jerusalem, Antioch and Babylon, and James had seniority, and he never left Judaea.
Yet it subsists and provides the sacraments to billions. If it was a human organisation it would should have disappeared centuries ago. Look at the arian heresy circa 336, with Saint Athanasius of Alexandria going lone wolf. The Church won't ever be defeated, even under the horrific circumstances we see today, I recommend hitting up the FSSP or SSPX; sit down and talk to a priest who's not afraid to wear his collar in public and polish up on good catholic authors like Chesterton, Belloc, Erik von Kuehnelt Leddihn, Jacque Maritain, Fulton Sheen, Dietrich von Hildebrand etc.
>there* have been
The epistles of St Clemet. He was the fourth pope and was also mentioned in the bible. Acts I believe. He was friends with st. Peter. Who also consecrated him.
You can read the wring of Ignatius of Antioch too. He died in the 107ad.
For a more broad reading these are authors from the the first to early 4th century. (Many Before Constantine's edict of Milan). They all talk about apostolic succession and the church as a whole.
St. Polycarp
St. Iraneaus
St. Justin Martyr
St. Ambrose
St. Cyril of Jerusalem
St. Athanasius
St. Augustine
St. Jerome
Judaism and Islam still exist, sir. 'By their fruits shall ye judge them', not on words. Also on scripture, which was virtually forbidden to Catholics until Vatican II
None
Islam
>tfw I love SSPX but I can never bring myself to separate from Rome
Bieng a traditionalist and loyal Papist is exhausting. But I guess it was never meant to be easy. If it was I would have stayed at protestent.
Roman Catholic.
The original and the best. Created the bible and preserved it for a thousand years.
Responsible for reintroducing literacy and preserving the classics during and after the dark ages.
The rock that western civilisation was based on.
Responsible for the evolution of both peer review and the scientific method.
Sponsor of the great artists of the renaissance.
Theory of just war the basis for the Geneva conventions.
Vast theological depth including St Augustine and causality.
Anything else is a pale imitation.
Why would you want to? It's universalist garbage.
None of the early authors on your list talk about the 'primacy of the papacy'. And none of these authors wrote scripture.
No indications that Polycarp or Justin believed in a Trinity, or that Jesus was co-equal with God.
Polycarp was considered the leading figure of early Christianity after the death of John (the last living apostle, and so the only one alive to transmit 'apostolic succession'), and he was Bishop of Smyrna, and was quartodeciman (only celebrated 'eucharist' on the 14th of Nisan, annually, not daily like heretics do) and had a disagreement with the 'bishop of Rome' on this point, who was already doctrinally falling away from truth
Nonsense. You just had to educate yourself and learn to read Latin.
Something that was challenging for illiterate peasants who wanted to follow looney cult leaders and corrupt monarchs promising immediate apocalypse. Something that typifies Protestantism to this day.
The leaves that fell from the tree and rot where they lie, protestants.
There are still miracles matter of fact a dead Orthodox bishop from Dallas was found incorrupted not too long ago.
>forbidden to read the Bible
Protestent myths. It was never forbidden. The reason why it was not ephazied was that most bibles were in Latin and most were Layity were illiterate. Not to mention before the Gutenberg bible. Books were hard to come by.
Also it's important to understand contex when reading the bible. Without knowing theology and historical context in which it was written there is danger of interpreting the scriptures wrong leading to heresy.
Fruits of Catholicism:
Mass torture and murder of innocents
Relentless prostitution in the political sphere, including currying favour with dictators like Hitler
Sexual abuse of children on an industrial scale
Perversion of the truth
How anyone can openly admit to being Catholic these days eludes me, must have a tough hide
Gnosticism.
How does anything but predestination make sense? If god is all-knowing and made everything things only happen because he made them to happen that way.
At but the bible specifies Christ appointing Peter his succession.
Natural law is evidenced as any earthly organisation tasked by divinity with preserving a truth must have a clear leader as all functionally successful organisations do.
St. Agustine explicitly talks about the bishop of rome as having primacy.
So does St. Ignatius of Antioch. 250 years befor him
From St. Irenaeus' writings that show evidence that sacraments (as we know them today) were contrived later by man
1. But there is another among these heretics, Marcus by name, who boasts himself as having improved upon his master. He is a perfect adept in magical impostures, and by this means drawing away a great number of men, and not a few women, he has induced them to join themselves to him, as to one who is possessed of the greatest knowledge and perfection, and who has received the highest power from the invisible and ineffable regions above. Thus it appears as if he really were the precursor of Antichrist. For, joining the buffooneries of Anaxilaus to the craftiness of the magi, as they are called, he is regarded by his senseless and cracked-brain followers as working miracles by these means.
2. Pretending to consecrate cups mixed with wine, and protracting to great length the word of invocation, he contrives to give them a purple and reddish colour, so that Charis, who is one of those that are superior to all things, should be thought to drop her own blood into that cup through means of his invocation, and that thus those who are present should be led to rejoice to taste of that cup, in order that, by so doing, the Charis, who is set forth by this magician, may also flow into them...
There's more, but the comment will be too long.
Yeah, I also met Elvis the other day
Many people were executed for translating the Bible into vernacular languages and reading it in those languages. Having grown up in a Catholic family I can tell you that it wasn't the practise of Catholics to read the Bible at all, only catechism and other books. This started changing in the 70s only.

>you can't understand the Bible. Let father read it for you and he can tell you exactly what it says
some obscure American protestant branch that plays with snakes
>be Southern Baptist
>realize that everyone at your church is a nigger, and that you too are a nigger
Double predestination is the herasy. Not predestination.
God is all knowing but he does not predetermine determine who will be saved. That would totaly negate free will.
The sacraments are pagan origin
>The view most widely held today among upholders of the historico-religious theory is that the Eucharist and the Mass originated in the practices of the Persian Mithraism (Dieterich, H. T. Holtzmann, Pfleiderer, Robertson, etc.). "In the Mandaean mass" writes Cumont ("Mysterien des Mithra", Leipzig, 1903, p.118), "the celebrant consecrated bread and water, which he mixed with perfumed Haoma-juice, and ate this food while performing the functions of divine service". Tertullian in anger ascribed this mimicking of Christian rites to the "devil" and observed in astonishment (De prescript haeret, C. xl): "celebrat (Mithras) et panis oblationem." (Pohle J. Transcribed by Joseph P. Thomas. Sacrifice of the Mass. The Catholic Encyclopedia, Volume X. Published 1911. New York: Robert Appleton Company. Nihil Obstat, October 1, 1911. Remy Lafort, S.T.D., Censor. Imprimatur. +John Cardinal Farley, Archbishop of New York
You don't need any religions in your life, mate. They're all a bit silly.
If you're just converting to be part of a clique then fucking none you underage idiot.
Sola gratia: Only by grace can you be saved. Doesn't God decide who receives grace?
PRAY THE ROSARY!
Christ gave Peter the 'keys of the kingdom', but in early councils Jesus' brother James was the one who made the decisions. When Peter went to Antioch, Paul rebuked and corrected him. It was Polycarp who was the most prominent Christian after John. After the deaths of Peter, James and Paul, John was the leading Christian.
Thanks for your profound contribution Bruce
West virginia has the snake handling churches
You correct that's why I said not ephazied.
Also
>children dont read quatom physics book let a physics explain it too you.
See the point. Anyone can read it but and understand it but you need to have a good background in history and theology to understand it.
>yes goyim, you must only seek to acquire material wealth, looking for any spiritual meaning or truth in the word of God is just ridiculous skydaddy nonsense!
dont cuck yourself
Shallow and trite, if this is indeed your thought then you have a lot to learn. You particularly seem unable to divide the secular and ecumenical and seem to believe that bad individuals mean that an organization is condemned. The Catholic church recognises evil exists and seeks to destroy the church from within if possible or without.
It is ironic you use the phrase perversion of truth as that is exactly what your reddit level neckbeard post is.
Free will trumps predestination.
>herasy
Learn to spell.
>he does not predetermine determine who will be saved
Yes, he does. Or he's not the all-knowing creator.
>That would totaly negate free wil
Free will can not exist in a system with an omnipotent creator. Why do I have to keep saying this? Why is it so hard to understand?
Correct.
The Church of Jesus christ of Latter-Day Saints or LDS for short.
>or mormon
Don't go all shithouse crazy with it though. Read the scriptures and infer your own knowledge from them that you can use to better your own life and the life of those you care about.
Mormons like to get too serious with it and take everything as literal fact. They also use their powers of the church to take dominion over their followers as to sew iniquity and separate themselves from the rest of society in an elitist fashion.
In a way they're like a business but they're also tax exempt.
The main point of the LDS church is that you agree with yourself and God to uphold a righteous set of tenants that improve your life at the price of freedom, creativity, individuality, etc.
These tenants are GUARANTEED that if you follow them to the letter you will have the righteous life you always wanted.
>Modest loyal wife
>No less than 2 beautiful children who are well disciplined
>Beautiful white picket fence lifestyle
The church will take you into their fold and will take care of you like a family.
This is only IF you take these tenants. However, not everyone is ready to take these tenants and so they don't but may later on.
This is the only church I've seen that has a guaranteed positive outcome in the face of "service".
If you want my opinion on the matter though go Rasta it's a lot simpler.
>Respect everyone on a simple baseline of being human
>Try to learn to see the differences in people and learn to love them for it (doesn't mean you have to like them or associate with them)
>Try to understand the differences in people
>Read the scriptures and infer knowledge that helps you get through life
>Dedicate time out of your day to meditate and reflect on your life, choices you've made and where you're at
The Orthodox Church is the one closest to the original teachings. Also, priests are allowed to have a family which makes them less likely to be molesting.
Yeah.
Orthodoxy is great. We don't seek to convert anyone but you're free to join. I attend an Orthodox Church in New York City.
What about our Cucked Pope though? I consider him a borderline heretic at this point.
Sarcastic greentext doesn't make things less true. It is nonsense to look for "spiritual meaning" because none exists. Do you have anything that says otherwise besides your FEELS?
