I can't believe there are people out there who want to legalise drunk driving.
How do you social Libertarians rationalise this in your heads?
The minor and extremely insignificant freedom this would allow you is completely overwhelmed by the fact that you could easily kill someone.
So, to all you social Libertarians on Sup Forums, a police officer who sees and confirms through a breathalyser that a driver is drunk should just let him back in his car to drive off?
>I can't believe there are people out there who want to legalise drunk driving. I've literally never heard of this.
I assume someone would be retarded enough to suggest it, but I've never heard it ever seriously proposed
Cameron Ortiz
Libertarians complain Socialism will never work, look at Soviet Communism (which is true)
But they never look at the best Libertarian example in the world - Somalia and say Libertarian-ism never works.
Eli Fisher
I've certainly heard it.
It's usually under the idea of freedom. These Libertarians seem to have absolutely no common sense.
Isaac Howard
Drunk driving is mostly a victimless crime that's penalties are more restrictive than kid fucking.
Gavin Jones
Hope you get run over by a drunk Ahmed
Adrian Gonzalez
Brought to you by the same people who want the right to drink and smoke while pregnant.
Jacob Robinson
It's the libertarians in the US, same kind of morons who boo a politician saying you shouldn't be able to sell heroin to elementary kids.
Jackson Scott
>there are people who are mentally so weak that they feel they must have a drink whenever other people are
I hope you're not this pathetic Sup Forums
Samuel Lewis
if drunk driving were legalized I imagine it would lose the "cool" factor and it would just be seen as morally reprehensible behavior, I doubt legalizing it would have any major negative or positive effects.
Andrew Lopez
People that don't grasp biological realities need to be gassed.
Lincoln Reed
the legal limit is so fucking low that you can catch a dui after 1 beer or glass of wine
Nathaniel King
>victimless crime >hundreds of deaths per year due to it and multiple serious injuries.
Luis Gray
>I can't believe there are people out there who want to legalise drunk driving. I don't think there are. I have no idea what you are talking about, but i am guessing there are some people who want a zero tolerance law changed to allow them to be able to have a glass of wine or a beer with their meal and not have to cab home.
Nathan Thompson
No one (literally NO ONE) thinks drunk driving is a cool thing to do. It's the antithesis of cool in most rational people's eyes!
Bentley Kelly
It's honestly a great thing that the lolbertarians in the US have 0 power. They're better nation wreckers than the democrats.
Landon Robinson
leafs have 0 tolerance? i thought .08 was bad
Jack Ramirez
The legal limit here in Ireland is one glass of wine or one pint of beer per hour. I think that's pretty reasonable, considering some lightweights start to get steamed after two beers.
Kevin Ortiz
>I can't believe there are people out there who want to legalise drunk driving.
literally who you useless potato nigger
Aaron Turner
All depends on what the definition of drunk is.
I think .1 is reasonable.
Having said that I don't think there should be no-open-container laws and you should be allowed to drink and drive so long as you remain below the legal limit.
Andrew Morgan
No we have .08 as well. I am just assuming OP is talking about a zero tolerance place.
Ayden Reed
There is literally no reason I shouldn't be able to drink in my car if I am under the legal limit
Drunk driving deaths increasing would pale in comparison with the reduction of suicides
Angel Young
Meh i drive around high and even drunk all the time sometimes both at the same time and i never had a accident as far as i can remember.
Benjamin Diaz
Don't worry. Drunk or not, your piece of shit prius can't go fast enough to cause any damage anyways.
Ethan Stewart
This. It should only become a crime once damage to person or property is inflicted.
Ryan Watson
This is absolutely retarded.
That said, how it's dealt with needs some reworking. There's a big difference between .08 and something like .24 and both shouldn't be punished the same.
Kevin Evans
In Quantum mechanical terms it didn't happen because you haven't measured its outcome.
Sebastian Howard
But who's going to monitor once you go past the limit?
You might be under the legal limit when you get in the car, but if you keep drinking whilst in the car, well....who's going to say "okay, enough is enough"?
Benjamin Cook
>be German >Have 1,5l beer while watching soccer with mates >Get into a police checkpoint on the way home >Did you have any alcoholic drinks tonight sir? >Yea I had 3 beer officer >Step out of the vehicle >Alcohol is measured >It's .4 >Close your eyes and tell me when 30sec have passed >Get it exactly right >Alright have a save trip home sir >Thanks a lot officer
Germany might be cucked but it still has its awesome liberties
Jonathan Young
i dont support drunk driving but goddamn do i enjoy drinking an ice cold brew on a long drive thru west virginia
Chase Brown
>Drunk Drives Some post the gif o the guy getting killed by the police after crashing his car.
Eli Garcia
What a waste of energy. People shouldn't be allowed to drink drive and it should be policed because when you're watching yourself get t-boned by some drunk fool I don't think be thinking >muh liberty but rather >man I wish society would do something about these fools.
Brody Ramirez
>social Libertarians What?
Landon Cruz
My old man got pulled over piss drunk as a 17 year old.
Police man says "what the fuck were you thinking? I'm taking you straight home."
Returns to get the car in the morning.
Ah better times.
Landon Howard
People who want maximum social freedoms.
Like, I'm an economic Libertarian but not a social one.
Oliver Campbell
>le Somalian argument 1. Anarchy is not libertarianism 2. Africa is not the West
Most other nations in Africa are on the same shit tier as Somalia, because they are africans. It matters not what system of government they have, they will always fuck it up. Take Zimbabwe for example... socialism instead of anarchy, and is worse than somalia.
Gabriel Sanchez
Drunk Drivers are the scum of the earth.
End of discussion.
Adam Jenkins
What's your reason(s) for wanting to keep drunk driving banned?
Landon White
so what you're saying is that your mom gives head to the scum of the earth?
Nathaniel Carter
>End of discussion. GUYS HE ENDED THE DISCUSSION
EVERYONE GO HOME
Grayson Hughes
As an ancap, I think it is roadowners' right to install road rules. I think almost everyone will forbid drunk (and stoned) driving, its just common sense. I've never encountered people who really want to lift the ban
Brandon Brown
Retard. Retard. Retard.
Drunk driving is NOT a victimless crime. Countless lives have been utterly destroyed by car accidents caused by drunk driving. Claiming that libertarians want to legalize drunk driving is the shit ties to strawman the statists have ever presented against libertarians. Literally no sensible person believes drunk driving should legal. Anyone that says so on Sup Forums is retarded (or just le pretending).
Lucas Reed
Calm down, Aksel.
Jonathan Hill
>self driving cars become the new standard >now you can cruise through every landscape you want while doing any drug of your choice
I can dream.
Thomas James
Yes. However the penalties for reckless and dangerous driving would be far higher.
I.e. A death caused by reckless driving of any kind would be death penalty tier.
Ryder Roberts
I drove drunk everyday for 5 years and was never in an accident. Though, I know that some people aren't high functioning alcoholics because they're naturally dimwitted and slow even while sober and I wouldn't want them driving drunk, actually I don't want them driving at all
Gavin Sanchez
The way it is here you could get a DUI for failing a breathalyzer test by just using mouth wash on your way to work. The laws are draconian. Anyone who challenges these laws is typically painted as the idiots like OP is talking about. It's infuriating.
Brody Jackson
That would be so nice
Christopher Wright
This
Michael Torres
I drive drunk literally all the time. It has nothing to do with being drunk. Only strong men should drive, not limp wristed men. That will fix it.
Elijah Walker
It's a well known fact that lolbertarians want to legalize drunk driving, they believe in a society with no laws on personal behavior whatsoever. They also support things like child pornography
James Russell
>>self driving cars become the new standard This will be fucking brilliant >Stumble into the car at 4am after being on the piss for the night > CAR TAKE ME HOME I'M DRUNK
Eli Sanchez
WHo is going to preventyou from posting hatespeech on the internet
Robert Gutierrez
Except that the powers that be would not allow that.
Justin Gutierrez
>putting words in our mouths
Classic Sup Forums strawmanning libertarians
Owen Harris
> you could get a DUI for failing a breathalyzer test by just using mouth wash on your way to work
That's not how it works dude. IF you fail the field sobriety test, they take you to the station for the breathalyzer test. The breathalyzer test doesn't happen on the spot.
As a US college student, I assure you that this is false within my university.
Obviously when these kids grow up they're not gonna brag about it but they sure do now
Tyler Gomez
So should be attempted murder and attempted rape then, I mean, there was no victim yet, so it isn't a crime yet.
Ryder Gutierrez
>driving is the same as crashing
Ok
Gavin Baker
>no laws on personal behavior But that's completely wrong, and you know it. However, ignorance regarding concepts related to liberty are typical of nonwhites, so no surprise that a fucking beaner is a statist dicksucker.
Asher Sullivan
I've never seen a single person, Libertarian or not, actually argue for the legalization of drunk driving.
I'd consider myself a Libertarian and I think that sounds absolutely ridiculous. Libertarians want minimal government, not no government.
Blake Morris
i was not serious
Christopher Foster
>drunk driving does not drastically increase risk of crashing >let's just ignore all statistics and a century of evidence that drunk driving literally kills This is you.
Jayden Turner
>we want to regulate your personal behavior >calls others "statist dicksuckers"
What's the point then?
When are you lolbertairians get your act together and form a coherent ideology? People might actually respect you then, if you stood up for something like drunk driving. Instead you support it but when someone calls you on it you say you want to throw them in prison and take away their rights. THAT'S WHY YOU'RE A MEME
Chase Bennett
This Thank you
Chase Rogers
> lets not prosecute behavior that has proven to kill and injure people, destroy property, as well as raise everyone's insurance rates when they DO fuck up
Only if you're under 21. They're more likely to get in crashes as it is. Over 21 the limit of .08 is standard in most developed countries. If you plan on getting drunk and you don't get an uber, you deserve the DUI for being a retard.
Daniel Carter
There's a correlation between drunk driving and being a fake conservative hipster douche who sticks butt plugs up his ass.
Wyatt Howard
Agreed. You cant get much better than driving on a hot day drinking cold beer
If you have a handle of rum with a straw, though, i can see that being an issue
Easton Sanders
Are you serious nigger? So operating a machine capable of flattening someone while impaired isn't a crime in and of itself?
This is the retardation of Lolbertarianism everyone.
Ryan Flores
nice argument
Jaxon Richardson
> mfw driving high as shit at night
Jack Baker
The problem is the limit is set ridiculously low nowadays.
0.05 BAC or lower pretty much anywhere in Europe but the UK, some Northern and Eastern European countries it's so low you literally can't have a glass of wine with your meal.
0.1 would be a good limit, certainly no lower than 0.08 (what it was here until 2008 and accidents haven't gone down a bit since the lowering).
