They're both unfortunate that their current teammates are both potential top 10 drivers of all time (HAM already is, amx will probably be too assuming he doesn't alonso his career) who outshine them. as for your question, it's highly probable. Bottas' future hinges on what Ricky does. If he goes to Ferrari (which I think he'll do. He wants a 'ship and going up against HAM would be a gamble. He already knows he can dominate VET), VB probably gets another 1 year deal if he's going alright next year. Same scenario if DR stays where he is.
If he wants Mercedes though, they'll be in a shootout for that seat. VB's 2018 effectively starts next weekend. What Bottas does if he loses the Merc drive is anyone's guess. He's too good for Williams, so maybe McLaren if Alonso doesn't want to hang around.

Toto and Lauda have said they like Bottas and like that their current drivers work together they have said the environment is a lot better for the entire team. I feel people here underestimate how valuable that is to Mercedes. The car was also developed with two drivers that aren't Bottas in mind and Bottas has had to adjust to the team.

Even for males, the odds of making it into F1 are very low. Even very talented males don't make it because they don't have the personal sponsors of lesser talented pay drivers. Considering that motorsport has a very low number of female participants, the number of those with the talent would also be statistically low. They theoretically would have more sponsor backing, but it seems even with females the money somehow finds its way to lesser talented individuals. Also the paddock still seems to largely be a "boys club" mentally.
Neck, upper body strenght, full set of ribs, risk taking mentality and finally social role not fit for a woman. If a woman to ever drive in f1 and win she's gotta be perfect unicorn to fit into proper mentality, be physicaly strong enough to compete yet has lower weight and combining that into one would actually pose huge problem for a female not to mention there have to be racing talent on top of that and finally she has to luck into a rich family that would support her in a racing driver career. Chance for all of this to line up perfectly is next to 0.
