Unironically should've intervened in the civil-war and created this. Not even meming, not even shitposting, I've read extensively on 19th century British Imperial geopolitics and intervening in the Civil War was the only chance to stop America overtaking Britain as a world power and many of our leading political figures believed the same.

Dunno how southerners would feel about being part of a british plan to weaken America though.

Shame you fell to Frog ideologies

If only we could've found a way to create a trans-atlantic political union of Anglo-Saxon states so that the colonies, both in America and elsewhere, could've been welded into one superpower, just as the founders wanted. Some of them were good lads.

Excellent post

Great googly moogly

What is it?

Says the nigger.

This, the an*lo menace needs to be stopped before it can gain power again, same for the G*rm*ns.

Reading on the 1991 LA riots how didn't that instigate a race war, lads? Is it because the ''LOOK THOSE 4 GUYS THAT SAVED THE BEATEN TO A PULP MAN ARE AKSCHYUALLY BLACK" argument?

>how didn't that instigate a race war
Because Sup Forums memes are memes

Because what happens in California usually just affects the government of California. Maine isn't going to feel any affects nor is the majority of the US going to do anything about some riot in L.A.

And yet the couple of niggers getting shot started BLM which has a presence in multiple states.

BLM is shitposting IRL: the organization

morning /dixie/

It's 1:30

Dumb worst coaster

Florida actually, off work because the hurricane fucked my shit up

rip

is your power back yet?

Hello, Bulgaria

It's 3:34 westerner

BLM was a response to repeated police violence against blacks over the course of many years, encompassing everything from Rodney King to the killings of today. It was a build up rather than a immediate response, and BLM has developed far beyond what it originally set out to accomplish, I don't think it's fair to compare an activist group to a riot.

ebin pic

yeah just got it back last night

Hello there :^)
Dunno I remembered BLM getting coverage on the local Bulgarian channel after a particular killing of someone. Trayvon maybe?

Hello, Srbija

Yeah, Trayvon was basically "the last straw" for the black community.

Last straw before what? They get slightly irritated?
But that does remind me of something
>be me
>be in school
>George Zimmerman case was in swing.
>walking with my fellow white male classmate
>see large group of annoying black girls
>turn to my classmate and say, "watch this"
>deep breath
>"GEORGE ZIMMERMAN IS INNOCENT!"
>pic related was basically me

Last straw before they decided to actually do something about it, create a movement for all the resentment blacks held against the police force for decades, and channel it into a movement for change within the police force, but now it's turned into some sort of Frankenstein's monster of all sorts of collaborative movements and efforts.

Oh, it started after Zimmerman's acquittal.
I thought it started after the Michael Brown thing.
My bad

Do y'all support BLM ?

Pic related.

I like parks.

Yeah. National parks are one thing the feds did right

>westies
is there a point to state's rights when the federal government owns most of your state?

Fighting to get it back I guess

not that it did those ranchers any good

Here's another map of Federal owned land.

Fuck you're dumb. You own all that land. Every American is one of the world's largest landowners with 640 million acres of public land. It's the single most amazing and best thing about your country. You can hunt, fish, hike, rockclimb, camp, graze cattle, extract resources, etc on YOUR land. Compare that to most of Europe where the land is privately owned and controlled, as is the water, as are the fish and animals.

Publicly owned, it's just managed by the federal government (something they have proven to be extremely good at). If you and the other 323 million owners don't like the way it's being managed, hire new managers at the next election.

Alright, my mistake, I don't know much about that land, just thought I would give a more in-def map of it.

>(something they have proven to be extremely good at)
Except when they imprison ranchers for increasing the value of public lands

Fuck off you absolute moron, no one wants you here

>be American
>ancestors come from a shithole where batons control all of the land, wealth, and power
>fight against that
>notice in the 1892 census that there is no frontier left
>frontier wilderness is key to the American culture and identity
>create the world's most extensive, comprehensive, and badass public land and conservation system
>a true work of genius and innovation
>all the world is jealous
>most countries try to adopt even a fraction of this
>meanwhile dumbasses on Sup Forums are too stupid to know what they have

National Park Service =/= Bureau of Land Management, though they are very similar.

Does Canada have their own National Park type system ?

They already charge 30 times less for grazing rights than the average state land trust charges. It's cheap as hell. The land is also used by people who aren't ranchers and may be negatively effected by ranching, that's why there is a small cost to offset the damages.
>be deer, antelope, or elk hunter
>you and your kind already pay 90%+ of public land conservation and access money
>ranchers want their cows yo destroy habitat and increase risk of CWD transmission
>okay, just pay a tiny amount compared to the state costs to help the water, land, and wildlife
>ranchers and Sup Forumsards complain

Yes we have national parks and Crown land, but it's not as good as your system

If the loading screens in RDR don't take an hour each this time, I'll try to start it up again.

>be Canadian
>don't understand the danger of setting a precedent of letting the federal government prosecute someone for something they had already been sentenced for by state authorities
>continue ranting about muh parks
Absolute retard

The Olympics are coming back to America.

Sucks

What's your excuse for not playing this right now?

You know what to do Sheamas

time to rewatch wind that shakes the barley

>sheamas
>basque spelling

I understand the issue and I actually commiserate with the ranchers. I know tgat their profit margins are small and that they have used these lands for generations. Don't attack the based public land system though. Like I said earlier, if you don't like the management hire new managers at the next election.

Because I'm an avid hunter and fan of North American history and public land is a very important and very contentious issue. Your President Teddy Roosevelt said it best:
>"Defenders of the short-sighted men who in their greed and selfishness will, if permitted, rob our country of half its charm by their reckless extermination of all useful and beautiful wild things sometimes seek to champion them by saying the 'the game belongs to the people.' So it does; and not merely to the people now alive, but to the unborn people. The 'greatest good for the greatest number' applies to the number within the womb of time, compared to which those now alive form but an insignificant fraction. Our duty to the whole, including the unborn generations, bids us restrain an unprincipled present-day minority from wasting the heritage of these unborn generations. The movement for the conservation of wild life and the larger movement for the conservation of all our natural resources are essentially democratic in spirit, purpose, and method."

is sheamus even a real name? I thought it was just an american misspell

Phoneposting :/

>Like I said earlier, if you don't like the management hire new managers at the next election.
That's why I'd prefer it to be in the hands of the state. It's a lot more responsive at the state level because you don't have a massive fuckoff federa l bureaucracy to fight

I don't mind conservationist efforts, I just hate the feds

*Roman Empire

BLM are government sanctioned thugs senpai

they have virtually no oversight and pretty much unlimited jurisdiction when it comes to crimes committed on "public land"

they get up to all kinds of shady shit

ive always seen it spelled seamus, but its not super common, most american micks would just be named sean or patrick or connor

Where can I learn more about the Roman Empire? I know there are a shit ton of resources out there, but what do you suggest?

>american micks
1/128th Irish lel

conor is how its spelled in ireland lel. Patrick is also an anglicisation but irish americans are too dumb to realise that

im literally half

the other half is scotch-irish and welsh

Hibernian subhuman

nobody named padraig in the US as far as i know kek

>scotch irish

Well, the Roman Empire as a topic encompasses many things, what do you want to know specifically ?

Military ? Government ? The people ? Possibly just a general overview ?

>be part basque
>listerally most insignificant ethnic group in europe
>be part spaniard
>used to be empire rivaling the british
>lost armada in a storm trying to invade ireland
>destroy local trade in favor of cheap imports from colonies
>slowly collapse like byzantium and dont even participate in WW2

the CHOSEN PEOPLE of the SOUTH

Politics and the people's day to day lives are generally what I'm interested in when I look at history.

i recommend starting at the beginning with the punic wars, their solidifying power in the Mediterranean was the beginning of their serious empire building

before then it was pretty similar to greek city states vying for control on the italian peninsula

JUST

God's chosen people desu

>battle of ecnomus
>a fucking ramp beat the greatest naval power in the mediterranean
why was rome so fucking based

honestly though, that storm that sank the spanish armada was a fucking history changing event

had they landed they very well could have solidified alliances with the catholic population in ireland (at this time basically all of them) and mounted a serious invasion of england from the west

there were Irish on the dixie side too

memes aside though loyalists are literally retarded. They support Israel like good little goys because some of the irish socialists support palestine

everyone here supports Israel for some fucking reason. There are several houses on the highway that fly the Israeli flag beside the battle flag and American flag

lol California's going to bankrupt itself

wrong pic

ive got such a boner for hannibal barca
>be young hannibal
>papa hamilcar takes me and brother to the temple of the sacred fire
>makes us swear oath to never be a friend to rome and oppose rome's conquests
>some say hannibal replied "I swear so soon as age will permit...I will use fire and steel to arrest the destiny of Rome."
>grow up military genius
>in first punic war father and brother die in hispania
>given command of armies
>besiege and take a city named protectorate by some tribe allied to the romans
>romans of course consider this an act of war
>they demand carthage give justice
>carthage dont give a fuck
>second punic war declared
>troops brought over from mainland invluding fucking war elephants
>raise army of celtiberian mercenaries from hispania
>travel through gaul
>raise army of gaulish mercenaries
>somehow keep the celts from murdering eachother
>take army over the alps
>including fucking war elephants
>romans are fucking terrified
>they send army after army
>outmaneuver and destroy each one
>over the course of a year travel all over the peninsula fucking everything roman up undefeated
>while in swamp get eye infection
>cut own eye out
>carthage wont commit more troops, tied up in naval battles with roman navy
>keep fucking shit up
>finally new roman commander has a bright idea
>"lets not directly engage the superior general"
>leads carthaginian army around
>never lets them rest
>eventually exhausted and cornered
>romans finally have victory
>for centuries after however
>they use the saying "hannibal is at the gates" for when shits about to hit the fan

yeah a lot of the irish sided with the south (being such staunch haters of centralized authority)

Alright, so I would recommend you listen to The History of Rome podcast, they're all free to listen to and are a gold mine, here's episode one to start you off (thehistoryofrome.typepad.com/the_history_of_rome/2007/07/1-in-the-beginning-.html).

Also, watch HBO's Rome, great show that I would recommend to anyone interested in Rome.

Now for books, pretty much read some of pic related, and if you go back to the History of Rome podcast page, you'll find a recommended readings page, there are some good books there that I as well as many other would consider essential. A bit of a warning though, don't read anything by most ancient historians, especially Gibbon, they have their biases and don't really know much about Rome itself, it's better to go to modern historians for that one.

If you are really interested in the Roman lifestyle, you might as well learn about Roman wars and battles, for that is what they are most known for, I recommend the YouTube channel Historia Civilis, an amazing channel that goes in-def on Roman battles and tactics.

And that's pretty much it, other than that, lurk /his/ and /lit/ for more information and recommendations.
