Overrated Foreign Movies

Starting with the obvious choice for 2016.

If this was a Western made movie, it would get raped by the critics.

The Wailing really was an irredeemable shitpile. That zombie scene is one of the worst things I have ever had to watch. Fucking schlock.

Last train to busan, fucking world war z tier zombie trash.

Oldboy

I hate most of that shitty list. It filled with edgy lord films.

Yeah, like fucking guy spits his blood and pus into his mouth and nothing comes out of it.

Noroi was shit and convinced me to never listen to this board ever again

Low IQ

It was a better version of World War Z, though still not great

main guy was homer simpson

the movie was fantasic btw desu

go back to watching capeshit

>Noroi
Consider that it is one of the top horror movies to Reddit.

most gook flicks are shit and if you've seen 3 or so you've more or less seen them all. don't pay attention to the weebs on this site

More like movies americucks and children will never understand.

Such a pretty movie

This.

I bet it's the same people who don't understand that Arrival is the best sci-fi movie of the last 20 years.

samefagging autist

It's just like Thirst. Which is about an hour to long.

I liked the Arrival but they made basic linguistics look like the most complex shit. Most of the problems about this type of movies is how it try to cheat the viewers about making them believe they are so smart instead of just make them enjoy a movie.

Butthurt underage.

Seriously the way they portrayed Christianity in such a positive light while also spitting on beautiful Korean traditional shamanism made me hate the movie so hard

So you are retarded if you read it that way.

>More like movies americucks and children will never understand.

Hmm...
>cops never put anybody in handcuffs ever--not even a guy who was suspected of slaughtering his family with a knife.
>the police literally just let a murder suspect sit on a porch with zero restraints at all, while in America, the guy would be handcuffed and in the back of a police car.

>cops also break into people's houses, find incriminating evidence, kill the suspect's dog, leave, and then act like nothing happens.
>they don't report anything they found to their superiors. They don't arrest the suspect either. Nothing is said at all about the incident, and the cop would rather use vigilante justice later on instead of doing his fucking job for one time in the ENTIRE movie.

>cops are also attacked and put in mortal danger, and they never use their guns on the assailants.
>I was looking over and over again to make sure that the main character actually had a gun (since it was set in South Korea, and they are weird about firearms), and yeah, he clearly did have one. He didn't use it a single fucking time in life or death situations, but he had one.

You're right, Americans sure wouldn't understand the level of mental retardation the South Korean police suffered in this movie. The cops in this movie made the cops in The Chaser look like a bunch of John McClane's in comparison.

The Wailing was terrible for that reason alone. I shouldn't even have to mention the fact that it was 45-minutes too long, had too many twists, and an idiotic ending.

Shitty, overrated movie is shitty and overrated.

this is why I liked it

The Hollywood remake is pretty good if not better.

Want to compares this cops to the cops in any horror movie? You think Michael myers would be running around if the cops in those films acted like real cops.

Great post.

If anything, The Wailing convinced me that Korean cops are even worse than European cops. Just like the European ones, they aren't allowed to defend themselves, but the Korean ones go the extra mile by being total pussies and super incompetent.

Pretty much you are proving my point, that you live in a limited and retarded bubble where you even ignore what happens inside your stupid country of rednecks. Police incompetence is not unusual, and police incompetence on a rural village where crimes are not as usual as in a city, is not strange. The reaction of those cops are not forced either when you take the time to think that on rural village things work different from your dearest fictional New York. So, fuck your self and your fantasious way of imagining even your own country.

I did like the Hollywood ending better than the Korean ending, but only because it was the 2nd Korean film I watched that ended like that.

The Great Wall

>not liking The Wailing

>grow up in Korea (I'm white, my parents worked at a British Private School)
>hate that Korean culture is now suddenly the meme popular thing and stupid idiots keep calling Korean films good when they're all terrible

You would have room to talk if bing bong films were any good.

You again faggot

Is more like
>Why no CSI in my korean thriller!

The great wall was good if you compared it to all those Chinese films.

>if I imagine things happening, then they're happening

The Oldboy meme is over and people have moved on long ago. Doesn't mean every korean movie is a meme to like.

Plenty of good movies come out from Japan, China, HK and Korea. No reason to ignore the cinema of those countries to pretend to be cool.

>don't grow up in Korea (I'm white)
>hate Korean culture that combines Chinese vapidity with the Korean non-history and amplifies it a thousand times by their mastery of degenerate mainstream marketing
Also I have no problem with Chinese language or Japanese language, but when I hear that disgusting Korean language where everyone sounds like a whiny annoying cunt, I have to play the movies on 1.5x or 2.0x speed in order for them to be bearable

Actually, watching Train to Busan on 2.0x speed made it probably a lot more interesting in general, the zombies looked a lot funnier this way

So I don't even need to add that I was rooting for the Zombies in Train to Busan and of course I was rooting for the Japanese guy (who is satan, because he is Japanese) in The Wailing

The only good thing Korea has ever produced they haven't actually made themselves to begin with

Why do you watch things you know you will hate?

So you are biased and behave like a fanatic. That's sad man. What traumatic experience made you to believe korean sounds so awful?

I don't know, korean cinema is pure shit for a while now to me. I've watched plenty good to great jap and chinese films lately but korea is sorely lacking in quality and entertainment.

Honestly kill yourself at this point

>great jap films

bait. There hasn't been a great jap film in the last 10 years.

>The Oldboy meme
Oh its still on. Reinforced by Train to Busan.

If you've actually watched more than 3 Korean movies you'd know they have a hard-on for making cops look incompetent onscreen.

I swear all the immigrants from Sup Forums is taking this board's retardation to the next level.

Name 10 of each from last year

>hard-on for making cops look incompetent
Or maybe is a way more realistic portrayal than the way americans portray their cops.

This. Not to mention excessive violance

No. Nobody even remembers TtB.

Just stop.

except TtB had a clear ending. While Oldboy didn't.

Most Koreans films don't have excessive violence. It's just those list are made by edgy lords.

I liked one Korean movie but I forgot what its name was. It had a monster in it.

If you actually activate your almonds you'll notice I only watch Korean movies where Koreans get hurt a lot, so there's something for me to like.

Traumatic experience? Does having hearing count as traumatic experience? Their language sounds awful. I can recognize about 30 different spoken languages and Korean is in the bottom 3 of worst sounding ones.

Bullshit. Real convo that happened twice
>I love korean movie
>Oh yeah? What have you seen?
>Well recently I've seen TtB and it was great
>me pic related

Whoa! Not even The Last?

>If you actually activate your almonds

oh your an edge lord. I bet you like "rape" porn as well.

>Cops beat other cops
>Other cops beat suspects
>Suspects beat witnesses

Wow really? Hhahaha they are such plebs!

Nope, I don't watch pornography, nor do I masturbate. Nice projecting though.

>TtB had a clear ending
>Oldboy didn't.
I will kill you

Unfortunately really. Thats why I hold my opinion that TtB is new Oldboy now

Not even close.

「Keit-ai」

You guys are autistic you know that right? You are bitching that people watch a film that just came out a while ago vs something that came out years ago?

Go to any torrent site. It often shows up on first page among american movies. You need to reconcile yourself to the fact that thats how korean movies like like nowadays

Korean movies are the best. They are the best! You just don't understand it like I do. They are so mythical and so weird and so different.

>Lee Dae-ro Can't Die
>The Righteous Thief
>Over my Dead Body
>Guns & Talks
>Bad Guys Always Die
>Kiss Me, Kill Me

I can go on about korean films that aren't filled with violence.

>confusing the effects of le zombie movie which are popular adn effects of fake korean film buffs

We are bitching bc ppl associate 'korean movies' term with a movie that has little in common with korean cinematography

Ive seen only Guns & Talks and you are retarded

You probably would of bitched if somebody said they watched My sassy girl as well.

I watched Poetry, rate my shit taste.

Their portrayal of cops is grounded in realism, but it's also exaggerated to a degree by the slapstick humor.

t. lived in Asia for 10 years. Cops are generally underpaid and lack proper training compared to Western cops so there's a culture of complacency and/or corruption on their part

That one.
The director says the ending is open to interpretation but I can't see anything except for outright racism

How am I retarded? The fact that I pointed out that not every korean films is filled with blood like The Man from Nowhere. I'll tell you what I'm going to watch Happiness for sale today. If it's filled with blood and gore I will pay you real world money.

this, fucking stupid police act killed the movie for me.
You are a fucking faggot, to be a police officer anywhere in the world, you need at least basic instruction. How the fuck you see them as rural police, when even a little girl would enter that room full of pictures and do the math that he was the killer.
FUCK YOU

It was certainly better than your average Michael Bay flick.

Is this your fist time watching a Korean movie? Police incompetenece is a recurring theme you faggots.

>disgusting Korean language where everyone sounds like a whiny annoying cunt
Jesus Christ. I feel the exact same way. Oodoodayoooooo, eejuuuuuuu, eeeomaaaaaaam; everything syllable sounds like a complaint.

What about the films where the MC is a police officer?

>this language I don't speak sounds like complete gibberish I tell ya what!

The sign of the very intelligent american.

Wasted my time with that shit. 4/10 super generic Zombie film, all the characters are stereotypes, the plot about the father having to redeem himself for his daughter because he's been a "bad dad" is the most fucking over-used shit ever. When I saw them going in that direction in the beginning I groaned and thought, "they must subvert this shit right?" wrong. Sentimental and stilted to the nth degree I can only assume the movie got good reviews because "OMG Korea, so unique, it's like they don't speak English over there, and whoa, they have trains too! 10/10". It made The Walking Dead look compelling which is a genuine horror.

like a Hard day?

This. How people can function there when every single word sounds like an accusation/ a complaint is beyond me.
At least they don't point fingers at you/poke your eye with their finger like the chinese do.

Haven't seen hard day I watched Veteran and you're all surrounded (which is a drama) and they didn't seem incompetent. I imagine it's like how if you watch capeshit films. All the cops are useless in those as well.

>did not understand the movie

You don't know anything about me. I even used to study Korean, and almost all media I consume is non-English. Koreans sound like incessant whiners, and that's that.

the Hollywood ending is the literal shit. You must be either 12 or American to think that.

Compared to the I might be fucking my daughter ending?

This piece of shit somehow won an Oscar.

Japanese sounds fine. Not irritating at all.

Korean sounds like gutteral gook shit. Really annoying.

Chinese sounds like speed ass. Highly irritating.

Vietnamese is utterly disgusting.

My niggas.

This is funny because this post is coming from an American Koreaboo who speaks no language other than American.

More like underrated. The ratings on almost every website are very poor.

Personally, I loved it.

Your opinion is not a fact. You just sound like an annoying child.

The only good foreign film that exists is "The birdcage" and not the shitty 1996 remake. The original 1976 film. I have a love of 70s style cinema (particualarly that period from72-76 that was very grainy) because it's a nostalgic style.

I think it depends on what you compare it to. Most people will compare it to an american film. You should compare it to a Chinese war film.

>implcations

I'm not American.

Doesn't chance the fact you're butthurt on another country's behalf.

lol

fag

easily a 5/5 movie. devastating. if you would happen to live with a person with Alzheimer, you would understand.
