The first seven episodes are slow but then it really takes off

>the first seven episodes are slow but then it really takes off

>the realistic opening 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan makes for the rest being schlock propaganda

>it has 10 episodes

steins;gate

The Young Pope

If a show doesn't hook me in the first 5 minutes I bail.

>Show's B-plot involving teenagers is more engaging than A-plot involving children

Ygotas

breaking bad

>the first few seasons really suck then it gets good but you have to watch everything
>every star trek thread

Im a bit more generous and generally give it 2 or 3 episodes. Still quit The Wire

The first season is great, but then seasons 2-18 are all terrible, but it's worth sitting through all of it for the great finale!

This shit needs to stop. People need to go back to series like Lost, 24 and Prison Break and learn that a series can be engaging from episode one.

>It's a great show you should watch it
>7 seasons of 23 episodes each

>I stopped watching The Office after steve carrell left

>the first twelve* episodes are torturous*

>It's the best series ever, but you have to watch all 176 episodes five times to fully appreciate it
>It will be boring the first four times, but then it will all be worth it

>not stopping after season 2

pepe have you been working out man? you look good

>Six episode """"""""""seasons"""""""""""

Better than sherlock which has 3 episode seasons which take a year to make

>filmed art having "episodes"
>filmed art having "seasons"
when will this meme die?

>some seasons are broken into part 1 and part 2

looks like legion is following this trope`

>I'm too autistic to follow a show for 3 episodes of important exposition because there aren't any explosions in them

What? First three episodes are great and anything but slow. You must be thinking of season 3.

>writers put "important exposition" in their show

ouch

>2 seasons + Christmas special box set
>13 episodes
>no 3rd season ever

If you need three hours of exposition in order to make a story great later, you're a bad writer and should leave the job to someone with actual talent.

>It's mostly a 12 year old boy whining for 2 episodes but then it really takes off
>then the 12 year old whines a lot more
>then there is a movie and it really takes off

>season ended on a cliff hanger because the writers were so sure they were gonna get another season

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

First episodes are shit, then it picks up, then endless 8 happens, the it picks up again.

At least the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is consistently good throughout.

>what is Stranger Things, Alex!

What's wrong with this? I've personally gone through dozens of uninteresting hours just for an interesting finale, and honestly it's worth it. Once you've watched enough things and realize life is too long to have everything in it be immediately interesting you realize it's worth making the investment just to get a glimpse at something original again.

That's because your time is worthless.

>the first 45 episodes are slow but then it really takes off

As opposed to the people who work for 60-80 hours a week doing something they don't like? I don't think so, and judging by your watching etiquette you haven't seen anything worthwhile.

>things no one ever said
>neckbeard contrarian probably twisted someone saying "it's better on the second watch" into this

lol

>each season has 20+ episodes + a christmas special

It's an exaggeration.

2004: Seasons had 20-24 episodes
2010: Seasons had ~12 episodes
2017: Seasons have 6-8 episodes

What went wrong?

Bojack Horseman literally

Yeah let's be honest here, the bulk of every TV show is filler nonsense. I have seen over 9000 tv kinos and I am beginning to see beyond the pixels.

should call them series like in britain

why do you bother with fall/summer schedules and the likes

Why do you bother with literally 3 episodes per series.

literally black sails.

I've had multiple people tell me that parks and rec gets a lot better after I power through the first season

the wire

...

it's true though.

parks and rec finds it's footing midway through the first season. I like the first season though, although most of Sup Forums seems to hate it

>...a series can be engaging from episode one.

Like The West Wing and the (entry level) anime I have seen, such as Bebop and Evangelion.

I didn't think the first episodes were particularly bad but the show doesn't seem to get any better.

>great show, just don't watch the last season and it's fantastic

Anime work ddifferently than American sseries

The Wire, Deadwood.

wtf

The Man in the High Castle

>the first 700m are low but then it really takes off

I give a show 5 eps at the absolute maximum if my friends like it. I did that with Supernatural and stopped after 5 because it was utter garbage

>I came here to post this

I just watch all the episodes rated 8.9 or higher on IMDB, no point in watching all the useless trash episodes.

please the young pope starts off as pure kino.

s1 is easily the best season.

>the first two seasons suck but you need to sit through them because the backstory really pays off afterwards
every scifi show it seems

This. Breaking Bad heavily declines after Tuco.

>it's my favorite show, just skip seasons 2, 5, 7, & 8

I had to drop the leftovers because of this.
Such bad writing man.
Every single time a character opened their mouths I wanted to blow my brains out. but then that teenager took off all her clothes that was the only good part.

name a single good show with 20-24 episode season.

30 rock
seinfeld

Just start with season 2 user.

Then stop after season 5.

The show is never really all that good. but it wasn't the worst thing I've ever watched.

S6 and 7 are worse than S1 though so be sure to avoid them.

They're great episodes in retrospect but it took me getting through the first season of Mad Men before I started loving it.

Those shows are all trash. Like I'm lmao-ing at you over here. Are you a suburban house mom? Or an inner city poor person waiting on his welfare? Because you have no excuse to be watching such garbage otherwise.

Try watching a real show.

alright now name one that isn't a comedy.

comedy is for plebs

if i answer will you move the goalposts again?

Unirorically take that back.

Can't be the young pope, the first episodes are INDISOLUTED KINO

>Dude, it's not boring, it's a bottle episode, the fly it a metaphor yo!

no. But I'll almost certainly tell you whatever you picked was garbage. I thought I was hoisted by my own pitard when I thought of Twilight Zone but then I remembered those seasons are 30+ episodes long.

>"You cant get the twist beforehand its so smart"
>"The movie wont be entertaining if I told you the spoilers"

I got partway into the 3rd episode.

I'm sure it probably gets better (it would unironcally have to, the beginning is so mediocre) but I don't care to stick around for some second rate tv show when there is still plenty of movies I would rather watch.

Please, list off all the 'partition' television out there xD , not that user btw, just very curious - pretty sure I've got your list in my mind already.

Is "The Fly" the best pleb filter to come out of BrBa?

...

Ah shitposting. The Plebs final line of defense.

Sorry you have worst taste than the local PTA meeting.

I'd spot you the first season but the show overall is pretty bad.

I'm sorry I enjoy shows where things actually happen and that might even give you a thrill now and then.

Here this is a site with user's more your speed. I'm sure you'll make a great addition to the community!

Does 6 feet under get better? I watched the first 4 episodes and there some parts I liked but some of the writing was kinda bad, and the GF character was absolutely killing me.

Came here to post this. The Wire Season 1 is incredibly slow but worth it.

...

does sneaky pete ever get better?

If you're fine with watching a relatively mediocre show with several excellent moments for arguably the best finale in television history then keep going, if you're not and can't stand the soap opera aspects then stop right now.

i can't do it
all the hype i heard about it
first episode was so fucking boring

Alright. Alright. You got me.

But can you name another?

Remember non-comedy.

I felt the same way. Trust me, stick with it. The payoff is worth it.

meh I found season 1 to be terrible. What was worth it about it?

The only good parts were with the nigs. All the cop scenes were total trash.

>it's a great show, just don't watch the last 20 seasons

Avatar

Its not about the soap opera aspects. It was the cringey writing that was killing me.

Does that get better? I can deal with mediocrity. Especially if its occasionally spelled with compelling moments, comedy and some excellent bits. I can't deal with "jesus christ I could have written this better"
