Yeah it's always the same shit.
I can't really point this show jumped the shark but in late seasons all jokes devolved into

>Charlie being a dick
In the first two seasons it was kind of endearing seeing the anal beta trying to overcome his loneliness and financial crisis or Jake being smart and spot-on in a few scenes between being portrayed as lazy or simply forgotten between his dotting parents. Charly actually showed some emotions when dealing with his brother and nephew, sometimes even choosing them before a cheap fuck.
Later on it was just rehashed over and over again, the agony of the aging drunkard, the pathetic excuse of a fucked up life, the numbed and dumbed youth wasted away.
