compare that to 19 days ago, when ESPN’s FPI for Georgia was: >vs. Florida (in Jacksonville) -- 83.2 percent >vs. South Carolina -- 87.6 percent >at Auburn -- 44.3 percent >vs. Kentucky -- 94.2 percent >at Georgia Tech -- 74.1 percent
Thomas Lopez
handicapper Ross Benjamin of the Off Shore Gaming Assocation say to beat your money on Auburn:
The #10 Auburn Tigers (7-2) will host the #2 ranked Georgia Bulldogs (9-0) on Saturday in what shapes up to be a huge SEC showdown. ... Georgia has defeated Auburn 3 straight times, and all those games stayed under the total. This will be the 6th time since 2015 that Auburn is a home underdog, and they’ve stayed under the total in each of those previous 5 contests ... >Georgia is averaging 36.6 points scored per game, and Auburn has put up 36.9 points per contest. Auburn is coming off road wins of 42-27 over Texas A&M and 52-20 at Arkansas in their previous 2 games. Any home team (Auburn) playing after Game 6 of their season, averaging scoring 34.0 points or more per contest, and they’re coming off 2 straight games in which they scored 37 points or more, versus an opponent (Georgia) that averages scoring 34.0 points or more per game, resulted in those home teams going 23-6 (79.2%) straight up since 1992. The straight up results take on added significance due to Auburn being a home underdog in this matchup. ... Georgia doesn't have as much to play for as Auburn. The Bulldogs have already clinched a spot in the 2017 SEC Title game, and even with a loss on Saturday their College Football Playoff chances will remain very much alive. Auburn has no room for failure if it hopes to win a SEC championship. Barring an Alabama loss to Mississippi State on Saturday, this is an absolute must win for the Auburn Tigers. Due to that high sense of urgency. I’m leaning toward using the home team as one of my college football picks this week.
Pick: Auburn +3.0

USAToday:
>Paul Myerberg: Auburn will beat Georgia, even if that single loss won’t prevent the Bulldogs from reaching the SEC championship game
>Dan Wolken: Georgia is going to face adversity at some point this season, and I think it happens this weekend with a loss at Auburn. Ultimately, the game won't mean much for Georgia. The Bulldogs are the SEC East champs, and their playoff fate will hinge on winning the SEC championship game. But with Georgia being No. 1 right now in the CFP committee poll, this team has a huge target on its back and will start to feel the pressure now knowing what's at stake every week. At home, Auburn will be able to stop Georgia's running game just enough to force quarterback Jake Fromm into some tough situations. If Fromm is ever going to look like a freshman, it's probably this week in that tough environment at Jordan-Hare Stadium. As good as Georgia has looked, these are two fairly evenly matched teams, and this is Auburn's last gasp to become part of the playoff conversation. The Tigers will get that done and set up a massive Iron Bowl for the SEC West title, just like in 2013.

three teams have held GA to less than 5 ypc: 4.30 - Notre Dame (ND rush D is allowing only 3.76 ypc) 4.57 - South Carolina (SC rush D is allowing only 3.92 ypc) 4.83 - Miss State (MS rush D is allowing only 3.66 ypc) ???? - Auburn (AU rush D is allowing only 3.34 ypc)
And Auburn has a better rush D than all three of them. Auburn will be the toughest rush D that Georgia see this year until they play Bama in the SECCG (assuming Auburn doesn't win out)
Likewise, Georgia will be the best rush D that Auburn sees until they face Bama in the Iron Bowl
It’s been fun for Georgia... but playtime is over.
Oh sure, beating South Carolina was good, and blasting away on a sad Florida team wasn’t without its charm, but now it really is Game On. ... Auburn is good enough to beat Georgia.
The Tigers are college football’s biggest X factor going forward. They might not be able to get to the College Football Playoff – the comp with 2016 Penn State is, potentially, dead on – but they can royally screw things up with the Bulldogs and Alabama both coming to town over the next few weeks.
There’s a chance this could be the first of two meetings between the two if Auburn wins out. If that’s true, we’re about to be in for one amazing ride in the SEC. ... Auburn, this is why you got Jarrett Stidham.
The former Baylor transfer hasn’t been the Heisman-caliber superstar Tiger fans were dreaming of this offseason, but outside of one giant clunker against LSU, he’s been really, really good. ... When he’s on – like he was against Mississippi State, and last week against Texas A&M – the offense is humming.
Missouri’s Drew Lock threw for 253 yards and four scores on Georgia – granted, bombing away in a blowout. With some due respect to Clemson’s Kelly Bryant, those are the only two dangerous passers Georgia has dealt with.
Stidham has thrown one pick in his last six games. Don’t turn the ball over, hit the third down throws, and get the ball out to the receivers in a hurry. ...

What would the records be if Georgia and Auburn flipped schedules?
The Notre Dame game would’ve been nasty for the Tigers, but they would’ve rolled through the rest of the slate with ease.
Would Georgia have won at Clemson early on? How about at LSU?
Both teams are fantastic, both teams are good enough to beat Alabama, and both teams are about to play an SEC classic in a crazed environment that should be legendary.
The one big difference between the two is the offensive line. The big question mark coming into the season, Georgia’s line has been outstanding, while Auburns has, again, been okay.
Auburn’s D line, though, is about to give ol’ Jake Fromm a bad day, testing the young quarterback with more of a pass rush than he’s seen all season long. But on the road, when needed, Georgia’s offensive front will bash away for a key late scoring drive when the NFL running backs take over.
Nick Chubb and Sony Michel will be okay. Kerryon Johnson will be stopped too often.
Final Score Georgia 27, Auburn, 24

a better question is what would the rankings be if Notre Dame beat Georgia 20-19?
Notre Dame would be #1 in the CFP rankings; I don't think anyone would debate this.
Is Georgia #3 though?

Drew Lock, one of the top QBs in the country. See how Auburn and South Carolina shut him down but he went apeshit all over Georgia, Florida, and Kentucky? And with Georgia and Kentucky, he did it with the away crowd bombing him with noise so he can't get his calls out
Drew Lock: @Georgia: 15 of 25 (60%), 253 yards, 4 TD, 1 INT, 130.5 NFL QB rating (4 TDs in 25 throws, 26.7% TD%) @Kentucky: 22 of 42 (52.4%), 355 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT, 104.76 NFL QB ratinig vs Auburn: 23 of 39 (59%), 216 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT, 80.7 NFL QB rating vs South Carolina: 14 of 32 (43.8%), 245 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 54.8 NFL QB rating vs Florida: 15 of 25 (75%), 228 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, 113.0 NFL QB rating
Georgia has a freshman QB who GA fan say is good but they don't trust him enough to let him throw the ball this year. Meanwhile, Auburn has themselves a good sophomore QB who is a potential 1st R pick in a year or two, and he's #3 in the SEC in passing ypg, and he's completing more of his passes than the UGA QB

Auburn/Georgia is going to be run-first team with great defense vs run-first team with great defense, and the winner will likely come down to which QB can hit the key throws better.
Auburn >Stidham is accurate (66.8 percent), and brings the big arm that the offense lacked in 2016. The sophomore has connected on 17 throws of 30 yards or more this season, with 15 coming in SEC play. The strength of Georgia’s defense is clearly its front seven, but the secondary – as evidenced against Missouri – can be vulnerable to big plays on the back end. After Missouri, Auburn is the best passing offense Georgia has faced in 2017.
Georgia >Fromm isn’t asked to put it in the air a lot, as he has yet to top 30 pass attempts in a game and has only one game of more than 205 passing yards. The Bulldogs don’t need Fromm to throw for 300 yards to win on Saturday. However, with Auburn likely to load up against the run, can the true freshman hit on enough throws to keep the defense off the line of scrimmage and make a couple of key connections on third downs? Saturday afternoon is his biggest test since Notre Dame.
