>In 1993, a majority of Russians considered the events of 1993 Russian constitutional crisis as an attempt of Communist revanche or as a result of Rutskoy and Khasbulatov seeking personal power. Ten years thereafter, it became more common to see the cause of those events in the resolution of Yeltsin's government to implement the privatization program, which gave large pieces of all-nation property to a limited number of tycoons (later called "oligarchs"), and to which the old Parliament (Supreme Soviet) was trying to stop.
>YFW Communist opposition tried to stop all of this but failed.
Why didn't the Russians listen to them? All of that suffering in the 1990's could have been prevented

They were scared of gommunistm and really thought that all capitalist countries had the luxurious life of the middle-class American.

>Made the right choice in bombing and storming the Supreme Soviet of Russia Stopping Alexander Rutskoy and Ruslan Khasbulatov from turning Russia into a fucking communist state again.
>Finally allowing privatization of Russia's state-owned assets, ensuring a quick dismantling of the Soviet-era command economy to make way for free market reforms.

As a result, former communists became capitalistic sharks squeezing juice from Russians. The gap between the poor and the rich as in Mexico continues to increase. Entire cities and states are turning into a penniless criminal ghetto. Unemployment is growing. The government is flooding all problems with powerful propaganda Goebbels-level.

Sadly, but nno chance of communist revival in Russia anymore.

I doubt anyone gives old Boris Yeltsin much thought these days.
He was quite clearly a drunk. He should never have been allowed to attain his status in the communist party, or at least should have been demoted (or disavowed) before he could do anything rash.
There used to be theories that he played some nebulous part in a CIA plot to overthrow the USSR. There were similar theories about Mikhail Gorbachev .

I'm not surprised it's an American who still believes this neoliberal propaganda!
>Made Russia into a democratic nation Democracy was an inevitable consequence of Gorbachev's reforms. And Yeltsin ignored democracy when it wasn't going his way!
>Transform Russia's socialist economy into a capitalist market economy. Again that was a process started by Gorbachev and completely botched by Yeltsin who gave away the wealth to the oligarchs.
>Made the right choice in bombing and storming the Supreme Soviet of Russia Stopping Alexander Rutskoy and Ruslan Khasbulatov from turning Russia into a fucking communist state again. Neither of them was trying to turn Russia into a communist state again. It was clear by then that communism had failed.
>Finally allowing privatization of Russia's state-owned assets, ensuring a quick dismantling of the Soviet-era command economy to make way for free market reforms. Sold them for a small fraction of their true value. It would have made more sense to have some free market reforms first.
>Is loved by all people except commies. Are you calling me a commie because I'm not stupid enough to love Yeltsin???
To be fair to Yeltsin, the Russian economy was a complete basket case, not only because of communism but because of the grossly overvalued rouble. And western experts like Sachs were giving him bad advice (like suddenly devaluing the rouble but not floating it). But that does not absolve Yeltsin of the harm he caused Russia by the actions he took to stay in power.
Ultimately he did far more harm than good.
Brandon Roberts
>Are you calling me a commie because I'm not stupid enough to love Yeltsin??? thats pretty much what american arguments boil down to.
Brayden Clark
During the Soviet Union, 1 US dollar was equal to 0,6 soviet rubles. After the exchange rate became floating, 1 dollar began to cost several thousand кussian rubles. Former Soviet citizens did not understand anything in the market economy and sold their shares for a bottle of vodka. They were naive as children. As a result, the director of the plants bought the shares of their factories very cheaply and became their owners. A lot of financial pyramids deceived the russians with promises of dividends.
Zachary Perry

I read his memoirs about his first visit to America in 1988, he we really shocked by its abundance of goods and wealth, he got an impression that even lower-middle class people in the USA have higher quality of living than high-ranked soviet officials and members of the government.

>filthy bastard son of whores like gorbachev did everything to sell our glorious Empire to the western filth Do you honestly not believe the fall of the Soviet system was inevitable? The Warsaw Pact was jumping ship and the economy was eating shit. The Soviets were also dumb enough to get baited into an arms race with the West (which they could never win). The great Soviet military machine was partially invented by our officers to get more money from Washington.
