Can someone explain to me how this is a feminist movie? A ton of reviews praise it for its pro-woman themes, but its as if they didn't watch the movie at all

I have a love hate relationship with a24
They made some really good movies like a most violent year and cut bank
But some fucking god awful ones like green room
I feel like a good chunk of the movies are tailored to a Jewish audience

Because it was the exact opposite of what most horror thrillers do.

Instead of presenting everything as supernatural and realizing by the end its just some guy in a mask, they present everything as just being shitty luck with slight windows into the supernatural, only to have a fucking devil goat show up at the end.

At least it was better than It Follows. There were scenes in Witch where I was actually engrossed. When the son has his massive, crazed monologue I was on the edge of my seat.

I know the meme 'DISHONEST FILMMAKING' gets thrown around a lot, but this is a good example of it.

The VVitch, It Follows, and Ex Machina are all wildly mediocre.

The get so much attention because of how they 'throwback' into classical stuff, or because they put so much of their budget on making everything look nice.

In other words, they are easily accessible but give the illusion of complexity.
