REEEEEEEEEE NOW I WILL NEVER GET TO READ THEM AGAIN

I trusted them more than you reddit fucksticks. IT'S NOT FAIR

IMDB had comfy threads like100 things we learned from "..."

IT WASN'T MEANT TO BE LIKE THIS

>can't read bait threads anymore
why lads

after watching a movie there were like 40 threads already of discussion and commentary/analysis trolling/ now NOTHING JUST NOTHING

WELCOME TO THE END

HOLY FUCK

THOSE THREADS ARE NOW GONE

>try to copy an old IMDB board link I had saved in a word document
>get this instead

I already keep forgetting. I've already gone there half a dozen times today to scroll down and read regular poster's opinions on a movie or actor, but nope. It's leaving me with a feeling of dissatisfaction and emptiness.

fucking this

How much did it cost them to keep up the faggy servers anyway? It's not like amazon's not drowning in money

And summer comes early for the rest of time

soon the entire internet will be nothing but one page

you can buy what is currently displayed, or wait 30 seconds to view the next product

>This included the Private Message system
So they literally made it that we cannot private message people nor even reply to any reviews? So basically we can't at all talk about any movies on an Internet Movie Database...

Man, these posts are fucking alien.

fucking why?

I've used it for like 10 years and rarely saw political things.

Normalfags were warned that the censorship was coming and did nothing to stop it. Everytime you bring up the fact the internet is getting more and more sterilized of any opinions and independent thought you get told to go back to Sup Forums.

Now look what you get.

>they deleted everything
Implying there were anything since forever

Sticky when?

use archive org or something

are you stupid? normalfags love cencorship

what's next? you don't seriously think Sup Forums would ever go?

>mfw someone Sup Forums said they were from the future and stated that Sup Forums is gone and that internet censorship is a lot more extreme
Irony that I read this couple years ago and now look what happened to IMDB..

RIGHT NOW

DO IT SWAGLORD

It's not about politics

It's about censoring any negative opinions that might affect a new movie's market value

Ideally the only way to talk about any movie should be through reddit circle jerks where all negative comments are downvoted into oblivion

it's such a fucking JOKE

i am literally laughing over here

"ugh, thank god they deleted the forums. one less place for the ALT-RIGHT to troll!!!"

They just don't want people talking about how ugly an actress is or how bad a movie is.

Is this the most retarded thing to ever happen?

>mfw I just signed up for IMDB a month ago in order to post on the boards

What was the last thread you visited lads

Have no fear

thechamcham.blogspot.com/

>It's about censoring any negative opinions that might affect a new movie's market value
this guy gets it. After Ghostbusters 2016 got such a blacklash, the Hollywood execs are trying to make it hard for the public to write bad stuff about certain movies.

Not to mention that Wonder Woman gets released in a few months time and it needs positive reviews

>watch non-capeflick for first time
>can't look at/post on imdb boards
>resort to making a thread on Sup Forums
>0 replies

phew I was afraid with what would happen to thechamcham (aka Brendan Fraser) after IMDB closed his forum home.

tfw ywn go to your obscure waifu imdb page and see the Looks like _____ topic ever again

You don't need to be from the future to see that coming

The internet is getting more consolidated and more incestuous with mass media by the day. Negative opinions are bad for business. If a platform can spread negative ideas about a product, even if they are legitimate complaints they need to be censored for the sake of the corporation's bottom line

...

I thought I signed up a few years ago but apparently it's been 11 years. wtf does the time go

>Brendan's got a page for The Mummy 3
FUCKING AWESOME!!

Made me both laugh and sad

>visit the site
>Brendan has pictures of himself as a baby, slowly growing up to be a man
LEGIT NOT JOKING

What does he mean by this?

You guys gotta browse this. It's like a whole new experience into the Brendan

how long until someone hacks ChamChams blog?

You all have shit opinions and you don't need message boards to spread them. Imdb wasn't good. Some reviews are good.

You get the same pleb shit everywhere on the internet. Let Sup Forums die as well

>tfw no more jews to trigger on the comments of holohoax films

But but muh 6 gorillion goy!

I'll miss those merchants

...

It wasn't just Ghostbusters

Tons of movies flopped last year because Hollywood is getting worse

The only way to keep hyped is if you forcibly cut off all sources of negative information

That means shutting down audience feedback

Really makes you think where does ChamCham get all that info?

THEY BETTER NOT! I wanna post how much I love Brendan on there

>I hope this will be a sort of sister (or would brother be more appropriate?) site to the www.brendanfraser.com website, long dormant , picking up where it left off.

Are we sure it isn't his brother doing all this?

good. burn it all down

Reminder:

>This is no surprise whatsoever. I've worked at IMDb (the worst and most discouraging experience of my professional life ) and believe me, the company is a soulless, empty corporate shell that has one goal: to sell advertising. It's not about movies, TV, or being 'guardians of data' - everything is about making money. The entire site is setup to sell advertising, and movie data is simply a means to achieve that. End of story.

>The reason IMDb is getting rid of the message boards is simple: they can't be monetised. If IMDb could make money out of the boards, they'd be staying, but there's no cash in it for them, so they're getting axed. The sell-outs who run IMDb will have looked at the 'metrics' (a risible corporate buzzword the Data Team loves so much) and decided that traffic is not high enough for them to make any real money.

>It really is that simple. I've experienced first-hand the obsession with metrics, and making money (at the expense of customer satisfaction), and it really is pathetic to behold. No decision is made at IMDb without greed being factored into the equation, and believe me, they will also shut down certain data sections at some point if they get in the way of making money. Forget the fact that the site has compiled 20+ years worth of important data - if one of the sections can no longer be monetised effectively (Literature, for example), they'll just get rid of it.

>In financial terms, keeping the message boards live costs IMDb basically nothing, bar the human cost of maintenance, which - when considered in the context of the site's huge annual profit margin - is less than miniscule.

How do you rate Brendan's blogsite picture?

this tbqh

>There's no point complaining about it, making suggestions, or suggesting alternate, viable solutions - the hacks at IMDb don't give a toss. There's no money in it for them, so they're not interested. They'll fob you off with the usual hollow platitudes, but make no mistake, the IMDb that people love died years ago. Now, the site is just a shiny, corporate plaything, pimped out by Amazon for the purposes of making money, with greed - not customer focus - being its primary driving force.

>One final note: it probably burns IMDb that the majority (over one third) of their users come from China, the audience for which is far less valuable to advertisers than, say, the USA and the UK. Only about 5% of IMDb's users come from the UK, which is ironic considering the site originated in England.

>The IMDb message boards were disabled on February 20, 2017. This included the Private Message system. IMDb is passionately committed to providing innovative ways for our hundreds of millions of users to engage and communicate with one another. We will continue to enhance our current offerings and launch new features in 2017 and beyond that will help our customers communicate and express themselves in meaningful ways.
Why do they post these false statements? Do one thing and say they're committed to the other. Just a lie to the face.

What are these new ways customers will be able to communicate by?
Emojis?

The Big Blue made me feel: thumbs up emoji

>the company is a soulless, empty corporate shell that has one goal: to sell advertising. It's not about movies, TV, or being 'guardians of data' - everything is about making money. The entire site is setup to sell advertising, and movie data is simply a means to achieve that.
this is how all website companies are structured, there's nothing inherently wrong with it.

For me it's not about sharing opinions. I deleted my imdb account in like 2007. All I want is to read some random people's thoughts on movies or people when I come across them. Like earlier today I came across Norman Lloyd's wikipedia page and figured I'd check his imdb for some maybe some interesting threads. There probably were some interesting threads before yesterday. I mean it's really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it's just something that wasn't necessary and is now a real bummer.

Well whoever is one of the contributers of the blogsite, they liked the Tom Cruise missing audio trailer kek

>mfw Brendan laughs his ass off at this
youtube.com/watch?v=GGwFWpY8OII

It had message boards for practically every. single. film. ever. released.
There is no comparison to be made with Sup Forums, reddit, or any other website. It was unique.

>there's nothing inherently wrong with it

>What are these new ways customers will be able to communicate by?
>Emojis?
probably. If you've played Mario Kart 8 on the Wii U, they don't allow any voice talking nor any texting but only a emoji system with a couple emotions.

making a decision that will actually kill the site is not wrong?

everyone is going to use rotten tomatoes now

>ywn look at independent European films and see if anyone has started a thread there anymore
feels bad man

>What are these new ways customers will be able to communicate by?
They are completely clueless anyway. They proudly claimed their facebook and twitter pages are an actual replacement for message boards, that shows either how far they're removed from reality or how much they're willing to lie.

yes user it's called capitalism. there's nothing inherently wrong with an Internet company maximizing advertising revenue, companies literally only exist to make money and that is the way websites make their money

>everyone is going to use rotten tomatoes now
oh yeah I forgot that RT allow you to write your opinions about movies.. but is that only for critics or can anyone do that?

IMDB WAS ONE OF THE EARLIEST BIG SITES ON THE WEB

THEIR FORUMS CAME AFTER BUT STILL, ONE OF THE OLDEST WEBZONES WAS JUST DESTROYED

SOMEONE KILL SA NEXT

it will have no effect. imdbs traffic comes from people checking movie data. do you think they would axe something that brought in more money than it cost to maintain?

That's not the only reason. It's because the boards cause them and Hollywood to LOSE money. That's without going into the political reasons.

to the average person it's probably a fine replacement. they'd rather post on social media than a message board and the stigma attached to it

yes companies make stupid decisions all the time. mark my words this is the end of IMDB. Do they really think it would be hard for anyone else to aggregate all the same data?

nobody cares

lol hey look it's the tinfoil conspiracy guy. why don't you te me your rational and measured theories rofl

>to the average person it's probably a fine replacement. they'd rather post on social media than a message board and the stigma attached to it
what the fuck? no way. I'd rather post on IMDB than under my name on facebook

>than a message board and the stigma attached to it
you sound like a Jewish shill

they probably took that biased study on trolls and message boards seriously so they are literally (((SHUTTING IT DOWN)))

are you 14 years old? For those who are older, they grew up using IMDB and thus it is such a shame to see those message boards be disabled (btw 10 years ago there wasn't that many trolls as there were recently nor did anything ever get political from what I remember).

>companies literally only exist to make money
there's everything inherently wrong with that, besides, thankfully, you're wrong. the good companies don't, and they figure out ways to make profit without compromising their vision. your mindset is why things like this happen and will continue to happen. call me naive if you will, but you're the one not only oblivious, but you enable the greed of those at the top of the food chain.

>the boards cause them and Hollywood to LOSE money
uh, how?

imdbs boards were slow as fuck. you dont think they have the data on message board traffic vs costs of hosting it? come on, man. the vast, vast majority of users probably don't even know there were message boards.

No it had the same shit said there as I see here twitter youtube letterboxd and reddt.

You had the same type of autists and jealous roasties posting 'opinions'

This is completely fair but its a plebish website there will be shitposts and less good posts than bad posts. The best place now are bluray.com forums .

Letterboxd is possibly more cancerous than imdb. Unironically youtube and reddit are the best bets.

>abloo bloo bloo

nobody cares

>mfw Sup Forums was right again
also irony that you got 88 dubs

lol how does saying there's a stigma attached to internet message boards sound like a jewish shill? it's always been something "geeks and nerds" use. are you 12?

fuck off kid. If you seriously think Sup Forums and /reddit/ is the only place to talk about movies and IMDB meant nothing... well you are wrong. IMDB had tons of great discussions 10 years ago. Hell there was over 100 threads about Seinfeld each with their own unique discussion on certain episodes etc and now all of that is GONE FOREVER.

3DPD "waifu" fags are just as ugly on the inside as their whore producer cocksleeve idols.

>dude capitalism is evil lmao
>dude the good companies don't care about profit lmao
>dudes investor inrerears have no influence over business decisions lmao
I swear this board gets dumber and fucking dumber by the second

He's just right. Its a drop in the bucket nobody will do anything about it. Like tears in rain. When social media privatized it goes downhill.
Dubs confirm

the text message boards were slow? if only people looking for the message boards used them how was it a problem? If I was on the board or w/e and it was either hmm we take a risk killing off the potential reason anyone actually uses this site or b kill it because it eats less than 2% of profit it wouldn't even be a question.

And nothing of value was lost, the boards were filled with normies, there was no actual film discussion.

WAKE ME UP

You are either Jewish or you want to see internet to be censored

meh...
wow rude

I can see why the jews shut it down with buttwipes like you two posting there

Yeah golden age of the internet is behind us. RIP

im 27 and this is just sad and pathetic

>there was no actual film discussion.
You must be young because 10-15 years ago there was tons of film discussion.

But why am I arguing with someone like you anyway? Sorry that I didn't screencap all the great discussions.

Believe what you want kid

>the boards were filled with normies
the boards were filled with tons of discussions about characters, the plot, ideas on how you would rather want the movie to end etc instead of just BANE, CIA constantly

I'm absolutely shocked that Sup Forums still exists through all the years of this shit.

you didn't visit the Seinfeld, Predator, Terminator threads did you?

If you seriously think Sup Forums has better film discussion then IMDB did, you are fucking wrong.

And fuck /reddit/ with its downvoting system that makes the place cancerous

this post is night incoherent. it's a very simple business decision: do the boards drive enough traffic compared to costs. the boards were fucking dead compared to 10 years ago, probably largely to the rise of social media. although half these anons will tell you it's a jewish trick because "they knew we were onto them"
