Alright Sup Forums this movie will this movie be the movie of the decade. It was very original and had excellent story telling. Literally no other movie has ever had the same or similar plot.
Hacksaw Ridge

it wasn't original
the characters were shitty
the cgi blood was terrible
5/10 passable
How wasn't it original? I havent seen a movie like it before.
It's cliche as fuck, the same as every war movie except through a medic's POV
Pretty good. I like it
Derivative of just about every war movie ever made, it was ridiculously over the top and melodramatic, 3/5 at best.
>cliche
Name one other movie with a conscientious objector.
2016 movie where Andrew Garfield as an explicitly Christian character with an accent whose faith is tested by witnessing extreme violence around him in Japan
>Silence
Ali
Mel Gibson is such a shitty director, makes christian propaganda but throws in lots of gore and melodrama so non-christians will think it's cool and deep.
Definition of dishonest, hackneyed filmmaking.
"Let's have a scene where a soldier runs screaming into battle using a dead comrade's torso as a shield from bullets."
Mel Gibson everybody.
>suddenly starts killing all the japs with headshots with one hand
what is this a fucking videogame?
>Silence
Okay, I would agree with you there. However, there was a huge difference considering in Hacksaw he had to not only overcome the prejudices of his Company (and get their respect by the end) and that it was about saving lives of the aforementioned people who did not respect him.
>Ali
Literally no real struggle 3/5 at best
The first half was just completely unwatchable. The boot camp felt like a rip-off of Full Metal Jacket and the war scenes had more cliche slo-mo action scenes then a Zack Snyder movie and is just christian torture porn like Passion of the Christ.
>original
opinion disregarded
I am so astonished by how wrong this meme is. Anyone who actually watched the movie knows that nobody even shot guns at him and the torso never blocked any bullets it was just a scare tactic.
You can literally see bullets hitting the torso in the fucking clip
You need to get better at watching movies.
anyone who is not a retard thought it looked ridiculous
I thought it was a bit silly, but not as silly as when Garfield was dragging vince vaughn on a blanket while Vaughn was, like, slaughtering a whole unit of nips by himself
I liked it.
AMA
>3/5 at best
I'm going to conscientiously object my foot across your ass.
Where is your bible?
Boring, generic war movie.
>what is this a fucking videogame?
seems the audience he wants is the alt right vidya kiddies, hence the upcoming capeshit
3/5
Where the fuck did all these anti-Hacksaw shills come from?
im pretty sure they just hate Mel Gibson
Right here. I wanted to like it because it's mel, but I couldn't do it.
Thinking about marathoning this...is it kino?
>Name one other movie with a conscientious objector.
Sergeant York. It's kind of famous, yo. Won Oscars and shit back in the day. Pretty good flick, too--classic dadcore all the way.
>but throws in lots of gore and melodrama so non-christians will think it's cool and deep.
No. He throws lots of gore and melodrama because wars, be them with japs or mayans, had lots of gore and melodrama.
2016 MOTY.
Manchester by the Sea came close but it wasn't better.
sounds like you didn't see any other 2016 movies
More like HACKsaw Ridge
it's a war movie!
>The boot camp felt like a rip-off of Full Metal Jacket
I thought that was intentional
It's a good thing veterans never exaggerate stories. Nope! Everything they ever say happened definitely happened.
You know Mel said that some of the stories were just "too unbelievable" to film. Really jogs the nog.
no offense dude but cliche storytelling is still cliche, even if some of the stuff that happened was real. the entire first hour is indefensible
Desmond Doss was a humble man. He was not a braggart, nor did he seek fame or recognition for himself. His story was told by the men who knew him and saw it happen. They had nothing to gain by lying, you dope.
Just because some people may find some things incredible, that doesn't mean they didn't happen. But most of you idiots are acting like it is a work of total fiction. You're wrong.
So I ask again... Why are you all so fucking dumb?
>literally saved 70+ people
>some loser on the internet calls bullshit even though the 70+ people he saved are literally witnesses to his acts.
Just because it's based on a true story doesn't automatically make it good. You must be new to movies if you think it's 100% completely accurate to the real events.
What was the point of the last scenes with the real guys saying the lines that just happened a couple minutes ago? Besides that, and maybe being a bit too long and having lot of irrelevant parts, I liked it
>What was the point of the last scenes with the real guys saying the lines that just happened a couple minutes ago?
Must be a woman or a foreigner, those were the real guys who got saved. It had emotional weight if you are human.
I know who they were, it was literally printed in the movie
What I don't get is the purpose of these images, it's a fiction film, not a documentary
Unbroken.
That said, Hacksaw is leagues better than Unbroken. But original is maybe the worst word you could use to describe this film.
Being raised on television has obviously turned all of your tiny brains to mush.
Because Mel was making a film about a personal story of heroism of a man helped by God. This helps to bring home the point that he's a real man, and his faith and acts were real. Are you autistic?
>Tfw I want to post the webms but Sup Forums's fucked right now
>can't separate art from reality
>calls me autistic
you are literally projecting
No seriously my dude, you are autistic. How did you not understand a basic addition at the end of a movie. This is done many times with movies like this.
Independence Day- the character they thought was a fuck up saves the day by fucking up the alien spaceship.
>original is maybe the worst word you could use to describe this film
Another retard shows his ass.
Yes we all know it's based on a real person, they fucking literally showed the guy at the end.
So what's not "original" about it then, you moron?
Don't you know how to read a simple bio, or are you so brain dead you have to have hollywood spoon feed you?
Are you an idiot? The fact that it's based on a real person doesn't make it original. It does nothing special or interesting for an anti-war(ish) movie. It doesn't make any interesting statement, and it doesn't make its uninteresting statements in an interesting way. It's what happens when the screenwriter doesn't have a single creative bone in his body so he just strings together cliches until it hits the 2 hour runtime.
This should be obvious to ANYBODY
you know you don't submit yourself for the moh, right?
oh youre just some fat faggot on Sup Forums
The most mediocre of this oscar season ive seen. Hugo weaving was the most interesting character. the story itself is a saving grace but the script was cliche and including bizarrely glorified action scenes in a film about a conscientious objector? Clint Eastwood did it much better.
i liked the movie but it had a lot of cliches (not doss' actions, cinematic and storytelling cliches), cheesy melodrama, bad cgi blood and garfield is insufferable in everything. wish gibson had made some better decisions
that shit was straight out of like every fps of the last decade
how? what the guy said was perfectly reasonable and you just responded with an insult
>2017
>watching Christian anti-war propaganda
Your brain=THICC
It's ipso facto original because it is a unique, and true story that never happened before. Idiot.
>2017
>watching jew pro-war propaganda
>2017
>being a shameless, war-obsessed jew
Reminder that when it came out everyone on this board loved it or had actual constructive criticisms over it, and after viewing a bluray rip they pirated with their moms internet connection everyone bashed it because of "hurr muh contrary opinion". It's almost as if movies were meant to be seen on a giant screen with amazing sound and some monetary investment rather than your shitty razer headphones on an asus monitor in your dusty basement.
The Christian angle aside, this was just incredibly cheesy and melodramatic. Believe the message all you want, but touting it as some sort of a revolutionary thing or anything just above "ok" is losing yourself in the action and missing that other elements of it kinda sucked
I know it's a shocking concept, but the more people watch a movie, the more people will criticize it. The hardcore fanboys that will enjoy it no matter what are the ones watching in theaters on release date, so of course they say it's good.
W-wait. So Christians are now the ones that hate war? Fuck I am out of touch with US politics.
I cringed hard at the part where he refused to touch a gun 400 times in the first hour. But the action and the later part about the saving was p kino.
It's anti-atheist propaganda and shouldn't be watched by any free thinking individual.
Christianity is responsible for all the evil, homophobia, transphobia and racism in society and films like this actively oppress atheists.
Why did the atheism fairy explode nothing into everything and have it magically form sentient life.
Gibson isn't a real christian, he's in some kind of cult that's much worst.
>if i don't understand it, it's magic
lol
>another boring world war 2 movie
>original
lol
Nice deistic/agnostic argument you got there, very sound. Now how do you extrapolate Jesus, the 10 commandments and the Arc being true from that? Or Allah or Yahweh or Zeus, whatever your flavor of the month is.
>much bible
The action scenes were well done but the dialogue was cheesy as fuck and every scene they weren't killing each other was painful to sit through.
>printed in the movie
>printed
Thick cunt. Fuck off.
