July 3rd is, historically, an absolutely batshit crazy night in Chicago.
Back in the day, they used to do fireworks on the third, too, not just the fourth. They were usually even bigger than the 4th, because A.) people would come in from the burbs and watch the fireworks over the lake, and then be able to watch the fireworks on the 4th with families and in their hometown, and B.) no one has to work tomorrow so they would get fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked up.
I'll give you a hint: they had to cancel them.
