Adding Flaming Creatures (1963) to the list
anything by Fassbinder
post more images of this cute kid :3
You're weird, buddy
Xiao Wu
Faggot
In the Mood for Love
But he's black. Black people are dumb and ugly according to Sup Forums.
He didn't contribute to cinema, and a large portion of his filmograpy are adaptations
>a large portion of his filmograpy are adaptations
so was kubrick
And none of Kubrick's works are on the list . 2001 was debated due to it's scientific realism and accurate predictions of the future, but it's surrealistic ending and roots in a "trash" genre keep it out of the list unfortunately regardless of influence.
lmao, what a fucking joke
bro, you're a fucking fool. you're the joke.
You can't be pure cinematic art if your work is adapted.
your mom's sex tape is pure cinematic
Ah, just a Sup Forumseditor. Dismissed.
post moar
If it makes you feel any better, Kubrick also self-professed science fiction as being a "trash" genre and thusly strived to make the best science fiction film. He partly achieved in doing so, but the ending hampers his vision. You could debate the surrealistic flourishes were rather cosmic, but who knows.
You get off on children, don't you, Emily Jean-poster?
y-yes i do
WHAT THE FUCK DOES KINO MEAN I CANT KEEP UP WITH THESE MEMES REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>can't keep up
You're 3 years too late
dding Rome '78 to the list
What up
>Moonlight 3
>Serpico 2
>Upstream Color and Anatomies of a Murder in favorites
Let me guess. 21?
Why no Bunuel? The Exterminating Angel?
Moonlight had an OK story, stop with ur memes
Surrealism is discouraged. Also Destiny (1919) and Salome preceded Bunuel.
Story about a man coming into his own skin and sexuality is quite compelling.
Yeah I just noticed there is an emphasis on realism
The purpose of the collection is to emphasize pure cinematic art (cinema's greatest strength as artform is to expose reality and reflect it through technique, peering into the annals of history, giving insight into society, philosophy, and psychology)
a salami lakers senpai
>watch movie
>en.wikipedia.org
If we go by this definition not much on the list is "pure cinema". Having no story or characters and conveying an emotional experience only through camera techniques seems to be the definition that I understood from the wikipedia article
iim so fucking lonely
i feed off the 15 strangers who comment and like every one of my letterbox reviews
all i want is to find someone who will accept me for who i am and take me in with open arms
@79702867
(you)
now you can happily kys
fuck you
8 1/2 is my favorite movie. Am I a pleb /lbg/??
pretty basic but better than 90% of Sup Forums and 40% of /lbg/
That's the French Dadaist definition (ergo bullshit). This definition is concerned with cinema having a self-reflective look on reality and its relationship with the audience. A self-aware cinema with purveyance in history, psychology, and societal conflict.
Federico Fellini's best movies were his prior works, but the film you picked was rather influential among directors, notably in Arthur Penn and Mike Nichols. .
If you liked The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, you'll love Artists and Models
Actually, Bunuel was preceded by Alraune (1918) as well.
Weekend
Social satire already preceded by hundreds with French New Wave techniques already invented in films already listed. Might I add cinematic firsts by pioneers are focal.
If it makes you feel any better, I wanted to add a personal favorite of mine over Rules of the Game, Topaze, but it was based on a play so it was disqualified.
At least mine was a precedent though. :)
whys so dead
I think I scared all the embryos away.
Here's some tunes, /lbg/
Adding The Edge of the World and Earrings of Madame de... to the list
I really like your taste my friend. What's your profile?
Whoops you fucked up, Earrings of Madame De... was adapted from a novel!
So was Make Way for Tomorrow!
I really hate you
These posts are bad
I'm actually the user from a couple threads ago that posted Zvenigora I'm also the one that keeps asking "/lbg/ what do you think of this". Also didn't go to film school, self-taught.
As stated before, I'm just here to trigger embryos
Meant to add I don't have a letterboxd and don't even use the site
Make a Letterboxd account and make a 'pure cinema' list in my opinion , then you can take suggestions in the comments and stop posting about it here multiple times a thread
It's easier to manage in a general, just asking for feedback from fellow cinephiles.
And by the looks of it, you guys like some of my recommendations
Pretty much everyone in the general has an account, and there are more people to see it on Letterboxd
and surely one place that is solely discussing your list is easier to manage than spread over multiple different threads where most posts aren't about your list
How about we make this /Pure Cinema/ General instead? It's better than primarily focusing a general on social media.
And besides, it's not like you shitposting college neets have anything better to do otherwise you'd be dedicating your time towards having a life.
That's genuinely a good idea for a thread
Make it

Adding The Whispering Chorus to the list
Taking more suggestions
Hello? Any more suggestions?
Well, you had your chance to speak about nonsense, and you twiddled your thumbs. We're reverting back to my way. These threads belong to me now.
Adding Old San Francisco to the list

This pedo has been spamming all day. I think Winston and Will Folsom have a new challenger. Whom is the most mentally ill?
Are you referring to pedo_gorro/Emily Jean poster?

Contribute to the discussion of pure cinema and maybe you'll find out!
