Why do they not teach statistics in high school?

Why do they not teach statistics in high school?

Seems excessive for high school math. Over here in the land of niggers and retards though most students aren't even required to take trigonometry.

Because it's deeply important to understand every field in social "sciences" and politics.

They do. At least here they do.
Its just that calculus techniques are not introduced.

Kids will bitch about real life applications unironically.

What bumfuck flyover state do you live in? All of the relevant states require trig as part of the highschool graduation requirement.

Because understanding how white privilege is keeping niggers down is more important.

AP Statistics was available in my 80% negro highschool

California here

You only need to pass algebra 1 to graduate high school here

Nigga I took ap stats senior year cause I knew I would fail calculus. I have no clue what the fuck that is and I did pretty well in that class.

Niggers and spics are too retarded to get it and would fail.

Trig is fucking essential wtf

Calc is hella easy

Derivatives and integrals are really straight foward

DELETE THIS

STATISTICS ARE RACIST

Except when they prove my point!

Also California.

This isn't true.

My high school did basic probability stuff, binomial theorem, statistical distributions, real basic "what is a standard deviation" stuff, and people got wrecked by it.

It was in my high school

My sister went to another high school and she needed up to algebra 2

I went to high school in New York. You could take the normal route with trig, physics, calculus, etc. But they had "applied math" for the retarded kids and niggers, which is literally basic algebra like factoring and quadratic equations.

Not in Florida it isn't. Here niggers and spics don't even have to take Algebra 2, they just take "math for college readiness" for two or three years sometimes. They just sit there and dick around with middle school material.

Calculus is a prereq for stats

It's one step away from hate facts

Because they don't want students to realize conclusions can be drawn from statistics

It would ruin the jewish plan

States don't like the idea of a class that teaches you why playing the lottery or going to a casino is a losing proposition. States make money off that shit.

They did in mine. Trigonometry, Calculus, and something else I do not remember as well

we learned stats with proper measure theoretic integral in 6th grade in germany.

stay uneducated, plebs

>statistics
>bitch about real life applications
only subhumans will do this

I graduated HS in 2004 and up to that point at least you could not receive your HS Diploma without trig. I'm garbage at math and even I managed a B in trig.

They do teach it here

>subhumans

that's 97.4% of the human population

>>>bitch about real life applications
>only subhumans will do this
subhumans are about 75% of the population of public schools here.

you can't educate someone who doesn't want an education, and I wonder why we bother trying so hard sometimes.

>79751776

Because of muh equality

...

they have it as an ap course

>learning anything above Algebra II

Graduation "requirements" are normally waived for retards and minorities.

They teach statistics and probabilities here.

California here and this is a flat out lie. You need Geo and Alg II to graduate.

It always confuses me when burgers talk about trig and calculus and algebra as if it's separate.

In Finnish school we just have Maths. It's compulsory and it covers everything. Then again i couldn't tell you what algebra is or what calculus is, to me maths is just all the same shit.

In Finland it is required for middle school

They do in England, I got taught stats at gcse level. Had to do simple stuff like the standard deviation and percentiles etc. I always liked stats though as you can just do it all with a calc and providing you don't fuck up entering numbers you're guaranteed a right answer.

Because statistically speaking,if statistics were taught to every child then statistics suggest that statistics would make people see that the world has not warmed (outside tolerance levels +/-) since 1998.Statistically speaking of course.(tolerance levels are set statistically too)
Now that we're talking statistics then we can move on to the unemployment statistics(seasonally adjusted statistics no less),then the GDP statistics, etc, etc, etc.
STATISTICS FOR EVERYONE I SAY.
Statistically speaking your awareness of the magnificence of statistics (OP) are about 1 in 500'000 (an impressive statistic and kudos to you OP)

lol shutup.

Trig is not necessary

Finland confirmed for special ed :^)

If you ever try to do any physics it is.

In California, atleast my district, you only had to pass Algebra 1, and 1 college prep math, like business math, or geometry. Now I think they only have to take Int Math 1.

If you're a retard.

Understanding statistics is a powerful weapon against mindcontrol by the jewish controlled media.

No wonder it isn't taught.

I do love me some measure theory. How can something be so intuitive and elegant?

what book is this? it's making me moist

They do. People who post on Sup Forums wouldn't know that because statistics proves Sup Forums wrong if you have a grasp of anything beyond fractions.

Statistics is easier than calculus

I am an engineer and I look up basic trigonometry when doing DSP work. Bring back memorizing :(

The only way to properly do statistics and probability theory and all that, desu fempai.

I lived in the worst school district in the country (clark county, nv) and took both trig and ap statistics in high school.

Because statistics is bullshit and irrelevant to a high school education. And I say this after taking 3 of those classes in college over 10 years ago.

If they're going to make a higher math mandatory in high schools, it should be Calculus. Not statistics. Hell, they should do accounting over statistics - maybe there wouldn't be so many idiots that are poor at managing money.

You should Fourier transform that Gaussian bro ;)

How come we have so (relatively) many math threads lately? I approve of this btw.

Statistics is essential for understanding the world

Calculus is just applied analysis. Rudin should be required reading for all students before graduation.

oh geez i remember this crap in highschool.
it really busted my balls back then

>took math, statistics and all kinds of other math-related subjects in University
>can't remember anything, not a damn thing

Highschool math as follows.
Alg1
Geo
Alg2
PreC

Exactly. Central Florida fag here, recently out of school

I think they dumbed it down just a few years prior to when I graduated (2007), I remember it being a big deal and in the news. The reason was, of course, to improve the graduation rates.

Pleb

.... But they do

They did at my school. It's funny though irl I never use math I've learned past like grade 7. I was looking through some old notes I did in grade 11 for functions. I didn't even kind of remember how to so it and I got an 84 in that class at the tume.

But I'm old as fuck and haven't used it since. I guess if you don't use it you lose it.

>alg 1 in hs
Wtf dude

When did you graduate?
>Tfw my math teacher regularly bashed the school system and I had no clue why until I left last year
Vegas is a real shitty place to grow up, I've realized.

They do in Russia.

I know it sucks. All i learned was up to Alg2 since you don't control your classes. They didn't let me take precal unless I did some other shit and attended some meetings or whatever.
Central FL fag here btw
Where can I learn higher math guys?
I feel stupid even though im much much better at math than anyone else I've ever met other than my wonderful teachers that is.

>Linear algebra
>Number theory
>Abstract algebra
>Real and complex analysis
>Category theory
>Algebraic geometry
fyfy

>why dont they teach X in high school
Because it's a fucking waste of time to teach highschoolers math beyond algebra 2, maybe some basic statistics concepts and trig stuff but after that no dude.

Those kids will barely get it, it's pointless
Math understanding is something that actually comes with age, biologically.

They did. 2010 is when things got worse

Calculating probability, memorizing T and Z distribution tables, and confidence intervals don't help people understand shit. I'd say three-quarters of the last class I took couldn't describe the difference between discrete and continuous data or even point out the simple difference between using Chebyshev or Empirical methods, and that was a "400 level" university course. Of course 75% of the class was easily weeded out, people try to learn statistics, but it's the understanding of it, which is important. Think about how many dumb asses you knew in high school. Do you see them calculating P-values for two tailed probabilities, drawing the curves, and explaining in detail what their findings are? No. 90% of high school kids are too busy getting laid, drinking, and smoking pot to care about bell curves and all the other mundane shit that's in stats.

They teach math here, but their students don't understand it. I believe calculus is integral to actually understanding mathematics. Since there's only two core concepts taught in calculus (integral and derivative), high school kids can easily grasp these concepts and understandings.

Im in texas and they do here :\
You have a choice of calculus or statistics
Or calc ap

Ban assault numbers

No joke, statistics made me racist.

???? What is all this retarded bullshit, its alg2
Precal
Cal1 or 2
Cal2 or multi-variable or statistics

you read elements of integration in the 6th grade?

Arizona here. This is how it was for standard classes at my HS. AP kids did Calc and Trig though.

>statistics proves Sup Forums wrong
Statistics proves what on Sup Forums wrong?

Trig is grade 9 here. Holy fuck America.

I drank, did drugs, got laid and partied but I absolutely loved math.
It was the only subject I had consistently high grades in every year of school.
It kept me engaged.
I guess im a semi normie in Sup Forums standards.
I want to get a math and comp sci/eng double major but that's no where to be found here in central FL.

>excessive

Go die you fucking retard.

Doing statistics is no harder than playing a game of battleship.

To get into ap, there were so many hoops to jump through. I didn't bother. I wish I did so I could get more maths in me

Only 25% do. And not at a high standard either.

Linear Algebra is no fucking joke friend. You touch the surface of that stuff in Algebra II. But there's a deeper beast lurking beneath.

I never took Algebraic geometry, but I've heard the stories from my peers.

My nephew only had to take up to Geometry before he graduated 3 years ago in Mesa Public Schools. If they were idiots, they only had to take this weird remedial Algebra 1/basic Geometry course to graduate. What school district did you belong to?

in your countries is it normal to read The Elements of Integration (or a similar measure theory book) before the uni?

Ucf? Uf?

>statistics
They hell are you talking about? I took this during my senior year.

Here's what I took, which is a standard "long" mathematics program in HS. Around 40% take it, in my HS 90%. One course takes 1/5 of a school year.

1. Functions and equations
2. Polynomials
3. Geometry
4. Analytical geometry
5. Vectors
6. Statistics
7. Derivatives
8. Roots and logarithms
9. Trigonometry and serieses
10. Integrals
11. Number theory and logic
12. Numerical and algebraic methods
13. Differential and integral calculus

>tfw the math you took in high school was determined on a choice you made in the 5th grade
>in the 5th grade i wasnt confident in math and chose math 1
>this set me on the "retarded nigger average student path"
>nothing I could do could get me into the more advanced classes
>could never take calculus
>because of a choice I made when picking class schedule in 5th grade
>the classes i took were
>Alg 1
>Geo
>Alg 2
>Statistics
NCF!

For us its
PreC
Cal I
Cal II & DE
And sometimes even Cal III if you're in the engineering section

Ya they have that here too but they do it in units. So one month you focus on trig (triangles and shit) then algebra (bedmas) etc. Then as the years go on you can pick which ones you want to focus on more thoroughly. You need at least 3 maths (one for the first 3 years of high school) to graduate and at least a 4TH math to get into university. Many people going into uni will take a 5th math here because the universities only look at your top 12 courses of the last 2 years of hs so some would take an extra math just in case they bombed one of the other math courses.

I was in Glendale Union. The weird remedial class you're thinking of is technically called "Pre-Calc," but there's nothing Pre-Calc about it. It's just as you said, a remedial class for dummies because everybody must graduate.

what the hell do you expect from the average shitlord highscholer?
most of them only care about yelling at you in online games. telling you your mom is a whore and that they want to poop in her vagina.

I went to high school in Alabama and all the math teachers spent more time talking about their cats than teaching
