Forgettable.
Characters are ugly.

Liked it a lot. Animation was gorgeous, songs were catchy, voice acting was good.

Good kids movie.

If I had to nitpick I'd say the pacing was a little jumpy in places and it was resolved a little quickly at the end.

And if I wanted to reeeeaaaaally nitpick I'd say that some parts of some of the songs lyrics were a bit "this is what I'm doing right this second, my name is Barry and I'm sad". A little on the nose, really spelled out everything so the audience of drooling kids would find it really hard to be confused.
That said the songs ARE great, there wasn't one I didn't like. With "We Know Where We are", "Shiny", "I am Moana" and "You're Welcome" being the standouts.

no one wants to see ugly shitskins besides neutered males

hottest disney princess ever.

didn't care for the mongolic looking guy

>Liked it a lot. Animation was gorgeous, songs were catchy, voice acting was good.

This

>hottest disney princess ever.

Fourth post best post

Agreed, all the songs are really damn good. Also probably the best looking 3D animated movie to date

>Ywn see Moana get COLONIZED

>they sing every 5 minutes
>5 minutes songs
no thanks

Where was the fatally botched unbirthing scheme where the big dude was supposed to crawl into the snatch of death and thus end the cycles of birth and death once and for all?
It was in the source material.

...

Borderline unwatchable. Girl has fat legs and stubby toes.

I think he threw away his shot.

I want to cuddle that

>Footfag

Opinion disregarded

Songs and animation were good, but overall, eh.

I haven't seen it, but my friend who is Maori loved it and he hates everything about being Maori because white New Zealand is shitty to him about it. I'm glad this movie gave him a small glimmer of self pride.

Not enough porn.

Best Disney since Up
Best Disney music since the 90s

I didn't really like the movie but Tomatoa had some A-tier reaction images

and the song/character was great too

This movie was garbage

1. Boring characters. Both of them look disgusting. Moana look generic at best.

2. Entire boring plotline on the fucking boat

3. Rehashed backstories. Moana is an Ariel rip off

4. Jokes are flat or they trying to be meta

5. Songs were horrible, so forgetable and not catchy at all. They were mostly spewing exposition in most cases.

6. The forced chicken and little tatooguy tried too hard as typical Disney mascots

7. Fucking ending, good to know the main hero is responsible for the death of everyone who ever dies and not only goes scott free but also gets rewarded

Seriously fuck this movie. A typical production made by black suits and created out of every Disney archetype. Seriously making a main character a woman or black will automatically have critics rate this as 95% on rotten tomatoes. Fucking brainless SJW's.

Started off shitty and boring, but slowly got better.
It was ok.

Why did they make his face like that? ruined the movie

10/10
Amazing animation
Catchy songs
Solid story
I haven't enjoyed a Disney film like this since Lion King

Best Disney film I've seen since Tangled.

"You're Welcome" was the only good song. The rest of them were forced (I wan't the Frozen audience) that all sounded the same

You can thank Frozen for that.

All future Disney animated movies must have a 50/50 ratio of musical numbers to actual fucking dialogue now.

Pretty much this except I think the songs were spot on, they had to be simple and graspable because they were driven by the narrative, which fit perfectly. Obscurity or making the lyric any more abstract does not help at all, the song are supposed to dramatize certain plot points which they do well.

why are you so triggered by a kids movie? i bet you went to a showing alone with a bunch of parents who stared at you for going to it

Shiny is pretty good and I also really liked the song at the beginning (where she grows up) and her "resolution" song on the boat with her granny. It was kinda powerful, the transformation she undergoes.

>tfw real life Moana will never be your gf

She's 15 retard.

What happened to the pig?

Overall i found it extremely mediocre, Maui was a complete psychopath, even by cartoon standards.
The script seemed like a mess written as the story went along and it lacked a proper feeling of pacing.

Out of recent Disney movies the weakest one, still a good enough kids movie i guess.

>tfw born too late to experience teenage love with Auli'i

>Maui was a complete psychopath, even by cartoon standards.
How so?

Except trying to actually bury alive, drown, and straight up murder Moana at every step, he showed no empathy for anybody else and was insanely self centered.

Please don't make another thread until they release the bluray so I can talk about it.

Best part of it was the chicken.

just download it you faggot

It was good, although

>more subtly politicized non-white content from Disney
>female design is heavily influenced by feminist body standards in consideration of female self esteem. Male blatantly gets no such consideration whatsoever

bugs me

>Weakest of recent Disney movies

Literally the opposite my man

big Rock cock

Maui being unattractive is staying true to the real legend of him. Moana was a made up character for the film, so they could really do whatever they wanted

what about other brownskins?

*note: I won't say the S word for I am brown person myself

And did he stay that way? It's called a character arc dude

>that gif
did he JUST?

t. 15 year olds

dat disney check, exposure and connections tho

Timmy Toe had the GOAT song desu

I know, that's a little old, but she's still cute

>more subtly politicized non-white content from Disney
Who cares, it doesn't have influence on the narrative

>female design is heavily influenced by feminist body standards in consideration of female self esteem. Male blatantly gets no such consideration whatsoever
What? so she had thicc legs, but overall her figure is petite and slim. Maui is strong as fuck and all muscles. All of them are on the thicc side, Maui was just exaggerated because he's a fucking demigod, you don't want him to look like the average islander.

bros who go alone to the kinos please don't take this post personal

If they wuz seafaring n sheit then why didn't the Hawaiians trade with Indonesia and Asia and colonize the Americas and become an incredibly rich and successful Empire? They were clearly implying they had huge sailing ships and could navigate the Ocean with them. It seems like an obvious logical next step if you're going to go to the trouble of building such technological marvels and learning navigation. Did Disney lie about history?

I was a drab little crab once

...

only the white devil goes around enslaving other cultures
they polinesians be chillin' yo

I wanted to make Moana my wife
Crab scene / song was 10/10
Great water visuals. It's literally a character
Liked the tattoo being a character too
Chicken was stupid but it made me kek more than once

But yeah mostly wanted to make Moana my wife

fuck off, by this logic might as well have a pedophile serial killer for a protagonist, even more of an arc to go through, right?

Frozen has maybe 25 minutes of songs in a 100 minute film, and they're all at the start. The entire third act has one song and it's shit. They got Johnathan Groff to play Krostoff and then didn't give him a real song. Frozen wasn't nearly as musical as people remember

>Comparing a Demigod who's kind of a dick to a pedophile serial killer rapist

>be the star
>doesn't even get the Grammy or Tony, Diggs did.

How cucked can one man be?

The reflection of the gold on the walls was a very, very neat idea. It was extremely disorientating.

I liked it. It awoke the inspiring feeling of exploration with this song, and the coconut people fight and the songs were all good. And damn the locations looked gorgeous. Really cool that they chose polynesian myth as a setting.

youtu.be/ubZrAmRxy_M
this shit right here, so good

people who /thread their own posts deserve to be shot

>You're Welcome starts
>"Oh god no, he's not going to try and sing is he?"
>"Christ, he is."
>"Huh... okay, this is actually pretty good."

The beginning of You're Welcome is pretty fucking rough, but somehow it comes together by the end. One thing in particular I liked about the songs in Moana was that they told you exactly what was going to happen/the character's intentions.

Like in You're Welcome, you get a lot of backstory about Maui, and he flat out tells Moana he's going to take the boat but she's too entranced by his story to take notice.

Based on modern Disney Princesses:

Moana > Tangled > Frozen

>he showed no empathy for anybody else and was insanely self centered
we learned why this is the case though

>when you realize this was the first good disney villain song since Friends on the Other Side

it was mediocre, which is typical for disney

moana was hotter than expected though

I still have no idea why the sea's chosen one had to be her though, it could have been anyone else - even the sea's manifestation could have done that shit by itself

>Outside of flop and race shitposters this animated musical starring all non-whites somehow has almost only praise on Sup Forums

What went right?

The songs really repeat themselves though, how far I'll go is recycled essentially 3 times, the voyager song gets repeated once, and Who you are one is just a copy of a song near the beginning. Shiny is legit great though.

How Far i'll go is used twice, and the reprise is one of the best songs in the movie

For me it's that they went with an all polynesian cast and told a myth from their culture. They didn't try to shoehorn in a diverse cast or something like that, they simply adapted a polynesian mythology inspired story so there's nothing to complain about. Gotta give them props for this unique setting. The islands and sea looks gorgeous.

>Hellfire

So Disney shills here?

>female design is heavily influenced by feminist body standards in consideration of female self esteem. Male blatantly gets no such consideration whatsoever
funny, I thought that she looked like a super pretty Frozen type princess and I was thinking how they might have done that to "give polynesians a beautiful heroine of their own", and for that reason they didn't go for a more unique but "ugly" design. Just goes to show how full of shit you are.

No, they don't. That would be Frozen. Moana had like five or six songs, like a usual Disney musical, and most of them were really good. None of the songs are over three minutes.

I loved it.

Your thought does not render his opinion null. In fact many people agree with him.

>I still have no idea why the sea's chosen one had to be her though, it could have been anyone else - even the sea's manifestation could have done that shit by itself
Yeah, but the sea chose her
It could've chosen anyone else, but it didn't
It chose her. And in the process, she restored Maui to his status as a good guy helping humanity

When you watch it and you can sense the genuine positivity and love that disney brings but you watch it alone at home but having finished it leaves you with an empty feeling and wishing to share it with your younger siblings who you know would enjoy it at that deeper childhood level that you no longer can't.

kuno was hard shill for a while here bro, now's this

That feeling is for kids. It's for the best you are able to see it for what it is.

No one can be fans of anything with your mindset. I would rather have a shill thread with good discussion from fans than everyone hating everything like other boards.

Would you fuck Moana if you had the chance?

This post is so stupid that I think it gave me diphtheria. Just do us a favor and never post again ever. Google Tongan Empire, Hawaiian Kingdom, Manu'atele Empire. Or just kill yourself.

>I would rather have a shill thread
Lol not even him but fuck off shill.

user, there are no true counterfactuals of freedom so your question has no answer until the situation actually arises (which it can't)

youtu.be/ThIg_JhwAeA
>this scene
this was some fury road levels of hype

No you fuck off to Sup Forums or Sup Forums or /ck/ or whatever other board that tells you to hate everything. You're a sad fucking loser. This children's movie was great, sorry you don't want to like it. You shouldn't watch movies with that attitude though, going into something wanting to hate it. Sad.

>This children's movie was great, sorry you don't want to like it. You shouldn't watch movies with that attitude though, going into something wanting to hate it. Sad.
I don't watch movies expecting to hate it. You don't even know me. The movie wasn't great and that's what I took from watching it. People can have their own opinions you know.
I really doubted there are shills but the fact you are reacting so strongly indicates otherwise.

Trade winds

I'm not saying it's bad, but it gets annoying. At least Frozen and Tangled switched things up

Porker got dropped in place of that retarded chicken to be sidekick.

Very disappointed.

>film where pretty girl falls in love with a dangerous stranger and fights off wolves
>film starring brown shirtless kid
>film starring funny animals
>film starring brown girl

It's the 1990's all over again.

chiken was alright, had some cool scenes
but the pig would help a lot, also woudnt mind if they cut out a lot of the begging and went straight into her journey with her 2 animal friends

the crab battle was also a huge fucking waste of time, would been more to give to the 3 characters at play with pig having a larger role and the chicken being the typical retard
