I don't know about more comedy, but the comedy it did have was quality. Deadwood and The Wire are the same way; they're not primarily comedies, but the writers were skilled enough to understand that life is funny sometimes and capable of translating some of that to the viewer to break up the seriousness that those shows tended towards. The laughs didn't feel cheap.
