Japan is a democracy. China is an autocracy that has murdered more of its own people in living memory than any nation in history.

>wat append in 1949

Japan shaped up real quick after the war

China continued to be commies

also
fpbp

Japan was occupied, the old guard replaced with a new "Democratic" system that was pro-USA, Japan also needed as an ally in Cold War.

China's Nationalist Government was forced out of mainland China and to Taiwan in 1949 by Chinese Communist (with Soviet Support), Communist government takes power.

Simple as that.

structural realism

gommunism

>China continued to be commies

They weren't commies until 1949

Even better, in WWI Japan and China fought against Germany.

this.

OP is a moron.

Hentai and Democracy go a long way towards my opinion of a country

China had a revolution and became decidedly communist after WWII and Japan followed in Americas foot steps and pursued capitalism partly due to how MacArthur wrote the Japanese constitution. And fuck commies.

the enemy of my enemy is my friend

>what is kuomitang
>what is Mao's PRC

the US has a habit of persistently offering support to communism for some reason. we supported communist china OVER TAIWAN during the cold war, interestingly.

we now oppose china because they're ostensibly the most capitalist country on the planet.

this leads us to believe that we foster communism abroad because it makes them incapable of competing against the US.

Because the Chinese are Asian niggers and the japs are civilized people.

The China that the US were allied with during WWII is called Taiwan nowadays (or officially Republic of China).

Japan is like a hot bitch. Slap her around with a couple nuclear hits and she's yours forever. Just had to show them the right amount of disrespect.

We sided with the Republicans during the Chinese civil war.
They lost and turned into Taiwan while the Communists turned into PRC.
We're still sorta friends with the Taiwanese.

The China we were allied with is now Taiwan. We're still good friends with Taiwan.

wrong

we officially recognize china as the successor to the mainland, and we don't even have an EMBASSY for taiwan, nor do we support their appeal for a seat on the UN

where do you people come from

The story of two Chinas

The republic of China -- Taiwan (originally the only China recognized by the UN) was the US friend, the military of China the US supported went to the island

The main land China or People's Republic was commie. (Yes, the US supported during the war too, along with Russia). Thanks to Nixon the US is best buddies with them.

We have a consulate in Taiwan. They have an embassy in the states.

In official documentation, we recognize Taiwan as Taipei and it acts as defacto nation hence why we protect Taipei from Mainland China.

Doesn't seem to stop us from selling them American military hardware.

Asians really want to kill other Asians more than anyone else in the world. It really works well for the US.

cuz japs organised themselves pretty well after getting assblasted

they don't have an embassy here. it's some sort of "foreign office for friendly relations," china has us by the balls so much they commanded us not to build an embassy to taiwan, and they can control what we CALL it.

we actually levied an embargo against them from the 50's to the 70's. we only lifted the embargo after deng xiaoping started to shift to capitalism.

it's REALLY funny how fuck with capitalist nations and support socialism. we supported communist china throughout the cold war, and suppressed their capitalist enemies such as taiwan, and now that china is the capitalist country, we shfit to fucking with them.

vietnam was to stop them from expanding their sphere of influence, communism was a red herring issue. we still embargoed taiwan during the vietnam war.

they pretend to be a democracy but in reality they want to be very communistic.

>the commies didn't finally consolidate the country until 1949
ftfy

Like I guess. It's going to get to a point where we're arguing whether or not title matters, but we still do call Taiwan Chinese Taipei, so whatever.

>sorta friends
in that, they owe their national existence to American counterbalance in the region? Yah, I guess you could count that as close, kinda...

we funded the communists, gave them weapons, gave them the support of OUR TROOPS AND PLANES WHO FOUGHT FOR THEM, we also fed half of their army for two entire fucking years, and those rations are what encouraged people to joing the communists instead of the republic, leading to the imbalance of forces.

we literally CREATED the communist army, which for years was backed up in a backwater mountain fortress with no support and no army. fuck off with your fucking nigger-tier analysis of the situation. we didn't save taiwan. we fucked them.

There are no permanent allies or permanent enemies.

There are only permanent interests.

Intredasting, what about the Cold War then? Or was the Soviet Union better at running an early 20th century industrial society (I've heard this argument before).

>we also fed half of their army for two entire fucking years

SAUCE

Are you like, halfway through a Chinese History course, and don't know anything about the postwar yet? We worked with Mao because they were fighting the Japs at the time.
But in Cold War times we realigned and stopped supporting China and Russia because muh communist international expansionism, and anyone who was not pro-communist (inc Japan, W. Germany, Italy) became an ally. This included Taiwan, whom we have supported as much as possible without pissing off China to the point of war to avoid ww3

China has literally spent its entire existence being as treacherous as possible. Japan (and Korea and other places outside the mainland) actually have an honor system.
