as much as i'd love this show to come back, theyre so old now it prob wouldnt be the same and no one else could come close to the chemistry between lenny and benny.

Why is this show so god damn nostalgic? It doesn't feel like it ended 7 years ago. It feels timeless. Nostalgic isn't even the right word for KvS because this show is in some ways ahead of its time. A contemporary parallel are YouTube content creators like maxmoefoe and filthyfrank. Amateurish, irreverent, silly, self-aware of its unimportance. But KvS has gone beyond what reality tv or YouTube personalities are only beginning to explore, a sincere character study of broken individuals that is endlessly funny, poignant, disturbing. Has there ever been a more heartbreaking character than Spenny? A comically endless loser that is so humanly relatable and also so abhorrent. This Show is endlessly rewatchable because it bridges the gap between mindlessly funny and deeply depressing. It details the human condition: laughter in the face of endlessly meaningless endeavor.

The complexity of Spenny's character knows no bounds. He is aware that he must play up his sincerity in order for the show to work, yet his actual dignity is constantly on the line because the only way for him to achieve the sincerity required of him is to just be himself. It's like he's playing a character of himself yet the character is entirely invisible to everyone, including himself.
