was just watching this yesterday. goat.

The Departed

Well they got it right this year in terms of Original Screenplay and Best Actor, genuinely happy for Lonergan and Casey

The hunter should have won. This is one of the main reasons why I dislike that movie.

lol no

...

The Academy used to get it right almost all the time before 2007. Crash, Annie Hall, Shakespeare In Love were famous for being academy fuck ups. Now they get it wrong every other year.

When this guy won.

TWBB >

The Artist was unironically the best movie of it's year.

loooooooooooooooooooooooooool

Will we ever have such a great year again?

Name one better movie of that year.

The Tree of Life

Post the exact moment when you realized that the academy is only a political entity that has nothing to do with art, and you dropped it forever.

The Tree of Life, and it's not up for debate.

This flick wasn't even that good

Annie Hall is to this day a very respected movie, what the fuck are you talking about?

...

2007 was the most kino filled year of them all

>No Country for Old men
>There Will Be Blood
>The Assassination of Jesse James
>Zodiac
>Eastern Promises
>Before the Devil Knows You're Dead

He thinks Star Wars should've won.

Holy shit, what the hell happened in the last 10 years?

>muh favorite children's sci-fi movie with the pew pew didn't get best Picture

Came here to post this

>Crash

desu it's not like the other best picture nominees have survived to be well regarded classics

>Brokeback Mountain
>Capote
>Good Night, and Good Luck
>Munich

Brokeback Mountain and Munich are definitely not as forgotten as Crash

Most recent first:

> No Country For Old Men
> The Departed
> Gladiator
> Braveheart
> Unforgiven
> Silence of the Lambs
> The Last Emperor
> Platoon
> Amadeus
> Gandhi
> The Deer Hunter
> The Godfather Part 2
> The Godfather
> Patton
> Lawrence of Arabia
> The Apartment
>

Master and Commander should've won.

Barry O.

>Oscar for facepainting thingies
Only Crack-Croc looked okay... everyone else looked basic or like trash

Jesus christ all those great movies lost to fucking Crash?

They're all good movies though.

If Good Night or Good Luck or Munich won you guys would compare them to The Artist just because they're in Black and White.

Gladiator was shit. So was Braveheart.

Munich isn't in black in white, you moron.

That's ridiculously impressive.

Hehe

>academy
>getting it right
>ever

Keep sucking that 'critic' cock, they literally do it for you

Wait, do you guys not like Moonlight anymore just because it won best picture?

The Assassination of Jesse James > TWBB > NCFOM

>anymore

Moonlight

This honestly makes too much sense

...

You got it backwards.

why did this win?

Directed by a woman

How could this fucking shit win to Taxi Driver.

>go to Hanoi
>man North Vietnamese AA gun and shoot at US servicemen LMAO
>Get academy award in 1978 for Vietnam war movie about fucked vets

really makes you think

Nah man, both are revenge-kino

No idea, Rocky is still great though. Best underdog story imo.

Rocky deserved the Oscar. Don't bitch about Taxi Driver, which is one of the most unreallistic crime films ever made. Rocky is the best of 1976.

This won over Inglourious Basterds... Then again that movie was a sure no-win, just too much for the Academy to digest in too short a time. The other nominees weren't much either. Maybe A Serious Man...?

Rocky is pretty fuckin good man

Giving Best Actor to a literal dead guy was a mistake that year.

Literally everybody loved it back then (and today still many.) It felt good to vote for it, I'm sure.

No Country was awful.

Anyone who uses the word "kino" should be shot in the back of the head.

Welcome to Sup Forums :v)

Why are you so racist against germans?

Racism is hating a group of people on the basis of their race, Germans aren't people so it doesn't count as racism.

>political entity
>Not a huge glorified advertisement

why u say that? I liked it

To be honest it deserves it. I mean any makeup that can make me semi attracted to margot robbie deserves an award.

Worthy winners, off the top of my head:

- NCFOM
- The Departed (no Children of Men nomination, other nominees weak)
- LOTR ROTK
- Schindler's List
- Unforgiven
- Silence of the Lambs
- Amadeus
- Annie Hall
- Cuckoo's Nest
- Godfather Part II
- Godfather
- Lawrence of Arabia
- Bridge on the River Kwai
- On The Waterfront
- Casablanca

>- LOTR ROTK
I don't think this is worthy, it got it because Fellowship had lost to A Beautiful Mind.
if the series had already gotten a best picture I don't think RoTK would've done as well as it did.

It wouldn't have gone 11 for 11, that's for sure, but considering the other two didn't win, it's perfectly reasonable to me that it won to represent the whole trilogy. It's great on its own, and the culmination of a great few years.

Star Wars is a better film than Annie Hall.

>Eastern Promises
Am I missing something? I have never seen this one

Alec Guinness himself admitted it was childish. Stuff like Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark are good children's films but shouldn't be nominated for Best Picture. That's just silly.

Holy fuck.

Zodiac was garbage though and I will never believe otherwise

Pretty good Viggo crime kino, you won't regret it

also Into the Wild

so good

...

>ctrl f The Silence of the Lambs
>phrase not found
Come on, Sup Forums.

All you people talking about 2007 and no mention of I'm Not There. Or The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days, Michael Clayton...

No country for white men*

>The Academy
>Better than Psycho

The fuck have you been smoking, nigga!?

The Psycho wasn't nominated.

Inglorious bastards is unironically terrible

So?

So the poster can be forgiven. It gets pretty hard to answer OPs question if you need to be autistic enough go through every movie of the year that should've been nominated too.

>t. woman

I don't know if it deserved an Oscar for best picture, but it definitely is a very good movie.

>t. easily impressionable american faggot

fuck yeah, jackie chan is a great entertainer. his movies always remind me that I can still experience fun

...

I suggest you practice your trolling skills.

A very cool and interesting story and one of the best thrillers of recent years. What's the problem?

you're funny
