Lets trigger amerisharts

European architechture. Everything is welcome except poor quality images.

>expects us to be impressed by ruins and a plain looking church.
You're off to a shit start.

...

oh, you are a hard one to break. I might need help from Italy and Germany here.

...

...

...

...

Scandinavia is comfy but the greater architecture is down in "regular" Europe tbf

...

Norway and Finland have lackluster architechture, but I think Denmark and Sweden have alot of eyecandy.

But I agree the absolute most grand buildings are obviously in the bigger countries - France, UK, Germany and Italy mainly.

Noice, should be posted more often it's the first time I see it in these threads. Any other walled towns in Sweden ? Even if it's just partially

this thread is stupid

what about it is supposed to trigger us? because it's old?

...

Don't care, I'm not trying to trigger anyone I'm just architectureposting
Just hop in and make us discover unknown interesting USA buildings
White Castle not allowed

that your buildings are generic and ugly

...

I'm so infuriated by all this beautiful architecture I'm about to have an aneurysm.

>we're just as bad as americans but nobody notices

COMFY
nah it's supposed to trigger you because your country bulldozes everything and lays cement and artificial shit everywhere

Whats those roofs tiles are made of? It's some alloy of lead (due the blackness)?

...

>old

This French castle was built in 2011, m8

Spain is really impressive architecture wise once you start digging, a lot of the most impressive castles I know of are there
I wish there were more people from the Balkans in this kind of thread as well

Canada has thechâteau style, a blend of French renaissance architecture from the Loire Valley and British gothic architecture. My local train station is a good example.

This actually reminds me of Gothenburg

>Roof

Have some

Any time I try to post historic American architecture some one else whips out art deco or neo-classical skyscrapers, which I just don't find that interesting. Maybe because I actually live in the city

St. Luke's church is an example of vernacular church architecture, there's the ruins of a very similar church in Jamestown and Bruton Parish in Williamsburg

ok lad, i'm pretty sure America has more outdoors than all of Europe combined, excluding Russia

I guess we know it but the USA is just more relevant

>Tfw no old European style villages combined with the American wilderness

I think thats the only one, at least with a big wall and not just some pleb tier five metres of saved wall

It actually stretches 3.4 km around the entire medieval city

...

stuff like this? if you only find old shit interesting

...

by a billionaire? No architect would even want to build something like that here because they all hate the old, unfortunately - unless you had seriously deep pockets.

litterally hundreds of building look like this, just in my state

Haha, cool thread guys.
Let me post some cool centuries old buildings from my country too.

...

yeah but all of your cities look like shit, Europe has that nice rustic look
like pic related, Amersfoort koppelpoort built around 1380

You have much better cities than that. Gdansk is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen.

but that looks like ass

...

...

if you actually travel to an American city, excluding the major economic center ones, there are a hell of a lot of buildings that look "nice" according to Europeans

Nearly every city has a historic district in the first place, this includes economic center ones such as New York, hell there's a fucking fort in several of them.

ok buddy

charleston is pretty and there's a slave market you can visit

Yes, but you can have nice architecture and expansive wilderness

It doesn't stop you from ruining lots of it tho, your pic of Yosemite is beautiful but I know it's extremely touristy and there are a fuck ton of parking lots and infrastructure to accomodate them over there.
I'm not judging, just saying that especially because your country is huge it has to have huge urban, artificial areas as well.
Your nature is god tier because it was really settled late, not because you limit urbanisation. Concrete jungle is also a side of the USA

Nah I don't find only old shit interesting. I mean it's what I prefer but we have plenty of these here so I'm curious about pretty much any building in North America, even if it was built last year. Huge skyscrapers are actually more exotic for me than medieval castles

it's alright m8, you've got exotic nature which makes up for it

Pretty lame
Pretty guud

This is about the most expensive place in the Netherlands to live. It really pleases my autism though

...

The best building in all of the new worlds tbqh

>flat, water, lots of trees, church
Looks a bit like a Dutch city desu. Except half the buildings are out of place.

...

...

Reminds me of the citadel of Québec

...

stuff like this?
they built them to have that shit on the top so during christmas they could light it up, their nicknamed "king" and "queen"

...

a lot of the architecture doesn't match because a lot got destroyed in the civil war. when I went there, I went on a tour and they showed a house with a cannonball still lodged in it

there's plenty of towns on the Northern stretch of the Delaware river that look like this, and into PA and NJ

most posters in these type of threads always seem completely unaware of architectural styles and histories and just try to dickwave overly touched up pictures of towns in their countries without being able to articulate why they actually like what they see

this, especially in cities like Charleston and Atlanta.

fucking Sherman

no memes please

Also I'm considering on going on a trip to watch some architecture. My choice is Andalusia, they have this beautiful mixture between European and North-African architecture because of Moorish influence.

Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba. Anyone ever been there?

...

...

I prefer the Frontenac "castle" in Québec tbf
it's the most European looking place in all the continent anyway. Save Mexico maybe, they kept many things from the colonial times

you have to take care of the house facades my magyar friend

Yes, because you need a degree in architecture to know what looks nice

you have the most beautiful parliament in the world

i guess, but i don't know it just feels weird
it just doesn't look as nice for me

Ok most impressive building in Europe coming through

Not sure how it's the most European looking, but it is beautiful

It's blacked. Just like Europe.

why do europeans flock to monarchs and shit?

Yeah these are fine as fuck
If I didn't ive in a house I'd be glad to live in a skyscraper, as long as I'm in the upper half
The extensive view over the city it provides is really my thing, especially at night

>living in a skyscraper

...

...

afraid of getting planed lad?

Because monarchs, most of them at least, cared about architecture and used their wealth to make aesthetically pleasing buildings. It's why a lot of nice European buildings have a royal past: royals were the only ones really interested in spending insane amounts of money to build things that just look nice.
Monarchs and the church.

frauenkirche in dresden, this is thanks to the all*es, they bombed Dresden to a pulp, the black stones in this rebuilt church are the original stones, the rest are new stones made after ww2

I like this

I meant the whole town of Québec is
Not all of it but their narrown stone streets in the old town are, imo

>Dirt black
>Not black because it was built in volcanic stones

Tiny rocks, reporting in.

Monarchs oppressed my people

No
but being unable to notice a particular style or even date a structure while appreciating it for the craftsmanship that went into it or variation from the norm makes it near impossible to actually appreciate a structure. It's like wandering around without knowing anything and just reacting to stimuli without any idea what they are or how to find them again

Cathedral looks god tier, houses around it look shit tier.

thanks!

sadly too many people in this country don't give two shits about their environment and even if they live in a place that cost a fortune to buy they won't spend a dime on refurbishing its exteriors

...

Why the fuck not, some appartements are great

Southern France villages are the comfiest place

You don't believe architecture has failed if people can't look at it and decide it's nice or not nice without having extensive knowledge of how to build and design buildings?

when they celebrate birthdays, get baptized, married, dies, special days etc.

the queen often drives around copenhagen in this waving to the people. they also visit all of denmark by ship in the summer. i even shook hands with her once when she came to my town

An unnamed buyer from the Middle East spent €275,000,000 for it.

...

It's beautiful.

but I thought Muslims hated European culture xDDDDD

Clermont-Ferrand doesn't have a nice skyline, but the streets are alright. But it's surrounded by very nice nature (exctinct volcanoes and mountains) so it makes up for it

Yes, Québec City has a lot of older Euro style architecture, they even still have their fortification walls. Other old parts if Canada are the same, but the architecture was not really aesthetic and they aren't as big as Québec City.

Pic is my small town. Population 1,900. It was recently voted the best place to visit in Canada. Lots of colonial era and style architecture, but not on the scale of Québec

...
