Maybe reddit would be more up your alley.
Futurama had scripts and jokes
Rick and Monty has improv, pseudo intellectualism and shock humor
Futurama characters were likeable
Futurama was written by geniuses making dumb jokes. Rick & Morty is a show written by idiots desperately trying to sound smart.
This is the best I've ever seen it put.
>the exact same show as futurama
why is reddit so autistic?
Apt
"Why would you not like a show that stole its concept and style from another show that actually had original ideas? Boy, are you guys dumb."
>Actually liking Rick and Morty
Nothing wrong with that but the show isnt that good and isnt anywhere near the same level that Futurama is. Rick and Morty just seems to be random for being random, somehow the plot is all tied in together, not to mention it tries to be gross/shocking for the same reason as well. Shit like Rick constantly burping and having that drool around his mouth is there for what reason exactly beyond trying to be gross?
seriously
justin roiland is alright but dan harmon just ruins anything he touches
It's really not. It wants to be Futurama but doesn't have good writing.
The burping is just annoying to me. Does someone find that funny? I really don't understand you guys
I watched the first 3 (or 4, can't remember) episodes and found Rick and Morty incredibly boring.
The plots were unoriginal "go fetch X for reason Y (usually "science") with added quirk Z", the characters were generic and tedious, and the social criticism was the same uninspired crap you could read on any 14-year-old's blog.
That being said I feel the show's worst fault was how stupidly self-aware it was. Like how "oh how random we made the dog smart xD" kinda' self-aware. The brand of self-awareness you get from people who are stupid, but then try to write it off as that "ironic" kind of stupid.
Summarized:
>The Big Bang Theory of adult cartoons
>Like how
Remove the "how". Started one train of thought and ended in another.
You're taking the show way more seriously than it takes itself.
>What is inspiration
>There is anything new under the sun
>What is paying tribute
DUDE I FUCKING HATE WHATEVER REDDIT LIKES
That's neither here nor there. Smart people can write lighthearted shows. Dumb people can too. R&M is the latter.
It's not contrarianism. I didn't even know this was big on reddit because I'm not a fucking redditor.
The majority of the writers were Ivy League brainiacs. Educate yourself.
I agree with his. I think the biggest problem with the show is that no one actually makes any decisions the way a human actually would.
Now I know you're thinking that I'm pulling the realism card on a cartoon, but one of this show's major selling points is the characters, and it's just jaring and unsettling when the main draw of the show is so unrelatable.
Let's take your example of how they made the dog smart. The dad asked if Rick had such a device and he did. Now, any normal human would have realized how much potential profit there existed in something like this, and a scientific mind would think of the endless possibilities. Not a single person alive would think this a neat little gimmick for their own dog, and nothing else.
It's things like these that constantly barrage you with the reminder that the show is written by mongoloids.
That has nothing to do with my statement. You're taking either show too seriously and that's your problem.
The joke is Jerry is a narrow minded idiot, and they noticed that joke was getting old so they put less Jerry in.
From your post I'm left to conclude you didn't pick up on that because you're too busy trying to sound smarter than you are in analyzing the show.
It's a sarcastic parody. That's all.
You're actually incredibly stupid, like every person on this board who has ever called anything bad writing.
Jerry wasn't the only one exposed to the device. Everyone in the family was. Including the mother, who is a veterinarian, who would instantly know how valuable something like this could be.
It can be as sarcastic of a parody as it wants, but that's never gonna' matter when it's not well done.
They literally created new math theorems just for the show. Yes they were geniuses, stop being so asshurt.

I actually quite like Rick and Morty but comparing it to futurama is just ridiculous.
The show's major selling is its insanity, not the characters. People love the improv stuff most and that has nothing to do with character. Shit like this.
This. Only butthurt Sup Forumsedditors dislike the show, simply to be contrarian. And then to rationalize their behavior they take the show WAY too seriously.
With that said, Futurama is light years ahead of Rick and Morty in terms of humor, drama, and action. The characters and setting are the draw for Futurama,
While Rick and Morty relies primarily on the infinite wacky possibilities that exist in the universe. Aside from Rick himself, none of the other characters are particularly interesting.
>none of the other characters are particularly interesting.
What about Summer's feet?
i love both BUT ya this
>Has a Ph.D.
>Wrote the Principal and the Pauper
The first four seasons of Futurama had remarkable wordplay based jokes.
Rick & Morty consists largely of premise based jokes.
nice try faggot
But there not the exact same...
futurama is unfunny garbage.
