Saw Logan yesterday. AMA and Logan discussion thread

What does AMA actually mean?

Did he ded?

why do people say AMA like tens of thousands of people haven't already seen it

anyway best capeshit movie i have seen even better than christopher nolan's the dark knight and winter soldier

How does it compare to Problem Child 2

I'M a fAggot

Ask me Anal.

>what is reddit

Ask Me Anything. You're welcome. :^)

le upvoted!

Cause I'm a piece of human fucking filth that desires attention, anyway I agree, some of the best capekino around

Saw it today.

Enjoyed it a lot. Xavier was fucking great.

-Professor dies it looks like, but does Logan too?
-Is the girl mom's le random science gal or some normie they took in?
-Any cameos? Storm? Jean/Phoenix dream? Magneto?
-Does wolverine remember everything now? Or is this not mentioned at all. Or is that already been solved, can't remember if they resolved this already

Professor and Logan die, both get their redemption and peace.
Girls mom is some normie Mexican that they impregnated then likely murdered
No real cameos from any X-Men, the X-men as a collective are mention but not what happened to them
Doesn't really seem to mention it, I think it may have already been resolved, X-Men films are a clusterfuck

>Mexican
They have to go back.

Whole movie is literally about trying to cross the border

Topical

Thanks

Cross the border out of America rather than in though

>Mexicans tries to cross the border OUT of America
Damn son

Does Logan burst out of his grave?

is it worth it to watch it in IMAX?

No but X-23 turns the wooden cross at his makeshift grave so it makes an X rather than a cross

It's a solid film anyway no matter where you watch it but if you have the money and it's local then go for it

Sweet, yeah i'm gonna go see it tomorrow then, got the next two weeks off work so im going to make the most of it

>Xavier was fucking great
this. patrick stewart actually got a chance to act instead of being a CGI prop

Isn't that what Ian Mckellen was sad about in the Hobbit or something?

It was basically a remake of Children of Men.
The plot, the structure, the characters, the ending, even the (unintended?) analogy of white race dying and other races taking over. Xavier = Michael Caine and so on.

Still pretty good though. It was the first capeshit I've seen since 2012. Only went cause I got free tickets.

Xavier killed the X-men and several civilians

Why does she only have two claws?

She has six, two in each hands and one in each foot

his last words on the bed refer to some incident where he killed people what is he talking about exactly and why does it feel like there is a massive gap and movie missing that explains what happened to everyone

When I saw it, some faggot had a coughing fit during his final speech

hate normie retards

i had what i can only presume to be a literal faggot as he was with his potential bf giggling at me during some of the gunfights during john wick 2, many such cases, sad!

In terms of sheer quality, it's the sequel to DOFP that Apocalypse should've been. I really enjoyed it.

I won't be watching anymore X-Men sequels after this though. For me, that's it. Leave it on a high note. Forget the seprequels.

>capekino and lolikino
a daring synthesis

It means they're from Reddit

DOFP was bad.

You're bad.

I just hope both Stewart and Jackman keep their promises, this is a high note they don't want to ruin.

Jackman is dying of cancer and Steward is just old, I don't think they have many chances even if they could

You live in the literal golden age of the fucking internet which you have obvious access to and instead of using your time and effort to type what does AMA mean into a search engine, you type it on fucking Sup Forums and expect legit answers?
You are one dense mother dicker.

>dying of cancer

That's what he gets for being an Aussie.

I'm one of those guys that associates an actor with a particular role. So I literally can't imagine anyone else as Xavier and Logan. Imagining someone else as Wolverine is just impossible for me.

>Logan dies
>Prof X dies
>the girl (Logan's genetic engineered "daughter") lives
>No after credits scene

Am I the only one who didn't recognize Stan Lee?
I told my friend after the movie that I'm glad he wasn't in it, he thought I was kidding.

Hollywood's got you covered.

Oh yeah he wasn't. No after credits scene. They totally abandoned the Marvel model.

Is there any post credits scene or prologue scene?

Okay, Han Solo and some new fuckboi that looks nothing like Solo.

Thanks, Hollywood?

B-but my friend told me he was the old doctor who treated Logan

A year before the film takes place Xavier has a seizure and loses control in a public place, he injures hundreds of civilians and the remaining X-Men bar Wolverine are killed during the incident.

The seizure fucks him pretty bad and his memory/sanity starts to go, so Wolverine enlists the help of the albino guy to look after him and keep him away from civilization. So he lives in that place in Mexico, Logan is saving to buy a boat so him and Charles can go chill in the ocean away from everyone in the sun.

Who knows what fucked up things happened between Days of Future Past ending and this movie which takes place decades after that, but governments and corporations clearly began hunting down mutants again and pretty much the same thing happened that happened in DoFP timeline, just way way less severe but still resulted in mutant extinction very quickly.

I thought so at first but he actually looked very different. Only thing in common was that they were old and white.

He looked nothing like Stan Lee.

I love that they did, added to the film's legitimacy.

Xavier's speech when he's laying in bed gave me some massive feels.

I avoided spoilers for this movie, so the reveal about X-24 was a surprise.

I didn't really like it a great deal though, seemed slightly out of tone with the rest of the movie.

Maybe I just missed it or am an idiot but why was Logan not as affected by Xavier's seizures as others? Caliban notes this and we see him move a TON in the casino/hotel

he's just that hard of a nigga to kill.

>Okay, Wolverine and some new fuckboi that looks nothing like Wolverine? Thanks, Hollywood?

You, in a few years or less.

On the other hand they already have a replacement Xavier in McAvoy, although only as young Xavier. I wonder how that'll play out, will they limit themselves to only stories that have him young, or will they find someone older right away.

I guess something had to do the deed at the end. What else could've done it?

I like it.

Is there any post credits scene or prologue scene?

Regeneration factor, Laura's somewhat unaffected as well.

I liked the movie, bit darker than marvel usually is.

One major plot hole though, not even counting time line fuck ups from other movies. Canada was a safe zone, so clearly there are still borders. All this talk about mutant extinction was only in the US then. Why the fuck are all the mutants acting like there's not thousands of mutants in other nations?

>You, in a few years or less
Nigga, that's me now. The whole point was that I can't see anyone else as Wolverine.

But didn't McAvoy cut his hair and everything in DoFP? Maybe they'll just stick with him for now. Going back to the old Xavier timelines so soon would be weird.

Just saw it

I considered capekino to be a meme here but this movie was genuinely good,

He shaved his barnet for Apocalypse because lol Xavier didn't just go bald naturally.

For sure, the last act in general has tone issues, the beard thing was kinda silly, and Logan running in the forest screaming doesn't work as well on screen as on paper.

I thought Canada as a safe zone meant they won't be actively hunted down, not that there are any natural mutants there.

Huh. Fair enough. That hotel slowmo scene was pretty cool.

Another question, what exactly does the seizures do? I believe it causes paralysis or something? Isn't that what the news said? But people could still kinda sorta move, just very slowly and it looked like it took a lot of effort. Caliban said he couldn't breath.

I liked the beard gag. It's basically the kids being spaghetti and MUH COMICS. It was nice little moment. And I think Jackman does the berserker thing beautifully.

I was relieved to see so many people getting stabbed in the face it didnt pull any punches like other marvel movies usually do when it comes to violence / gore

thought "evil logan" clone was a bit cheesy and not sure I feel about mild 4th wall breaking by them reading the xmen comic book and having a wolverine action figure feature all a bit weird

I didn't mind any of that, I liked him hulking out and going full Wolverine one last time. Just the X-24 thing felt out of place with the rest of the movie.

Right, but if they werent being hunted down there would still be thousands if not millions world wide and not as rare as the movie portrayed them. Its only 2029 not 2079, there would be plenty of mutants only in their 20s.

I spazzed out like a complete fag because I remember having that exact same figurine when I was a kid.

also logan sending kids away who just ravaged all these men was a bit annoying they weren't really "vulnerable"

I was screaming "just use 10 of these little killers to help you kill evil logan" but the story had to end in his death so w/e

I think it works within the universe as if mutants did exist then a Marvel like company would form trying to jew money out of their image just like in real life

Think of the scenes in the earlier movies where Xavier would seemingly stop time. Probably same effect but without the precise control to keep people safe.

is it above capeshit level?

Kids & X-24 were my grievance as well.
Why weren't the soldiers shooting them in the forest?

He's dying from poisoning from the adamanteeum. Not cancer. Dolt.

The X-24 thing is kind of a conundrum, they needed a villain with physical gravity, someone who can both hurt and survive Logan, but introducing someone new wouldn't work and the character wouldn't have presence, yet having him as a clone of Logan is out of tone with the rest of the film. Tough situation.

The way they chose at least has some symbolic importance i.e. Logan's nature got them both killed, and the only thing that could tame/kill it was Laura.

In my opinion it's a better movie than the dark knight (which is usually regarded as the only superhero movie better than capeshit)

and i think it's precisely because this isn't a superhero movie. it's a character-driven neo-western drama that's pretty sombre and gritty

because fuck you its a movie about redemption not a simulation about a military op, of course they would have called in a drone strike or snipe them from choppers if this was real life

this movie was great, got teary eyed that it might be the last xmen movie with wolverine, but the kid was fucking great and this was a great send-off movie for wolverine

Jackman is such a mediocre Logan, though.

This. The fucking kids could have done SOOOO much. But no, let's all gang up on this one normal human twat that doesn't even have a hand or a weapon and torture him instead of defeating beginning by defeating like 30 of the soldiers from the start instead of running like tards. Also, let's let this clearly out-of-his prime old man fight this clearly in-his prime younger version without helping until the very end. Which didn't even help.

Goddmn kids. I guess it took a lot of effort to use the powers or whatever cause they all looked like they were about to shit themselves whenever they used their powers. Except against Boyd.

This has made me unreasonably angry.

>Implying that countries other than the US matter

I assumed the food/drink poisoning thing was a global conspiracy. By 2029 all the young mutants would have lost their powers.

No! Don't say such hurtful things!

I don't know man, I get autistically attached to these things.

He was fucking obsessed with the idea of them being g innocent and not having to deal with the 'nightmares' he had which included hurting people. He wanted them to have good lives and be innocent. That of course does not excuse the fact that they were power houses. Silly film but not awful. Silly.

Isn't there a young Wolverine in this?

In a way. I guess.

...

I don't see how Wolverine, the short, animalistic, offputting, violent wild man is anything like Jackman's more traditional stoic loner. Wolverine's whole personality developed from him being a supporting character and not having to fit into a traditional leading hero roll, where as Jackman's always been too safe since he's always been the star of these movies.

He has been alright, but this is the first movie that gets the character right and he is fantastic in it.

Just got back from the theater.
It was really fucking good.
Although a bit sad we won't be seeing huge jackedman and professor X again.

Yeah they make an evil clone of him who kills Xavier and Laura kills him in the final fight with an adamantium bullet Logan was going to suicide himself with

There's no Stan Lee cameo or after credit scenes btw

Why couldn't they just bring Sabertooth into the movie instead of some weak ass clone?

I think it was done to show the parralel between young crazed killing machine logan and old man who now has something to lose logan
