The Black Pearl was just raised from the depths by Davy Jones he alluded to this in the second film where in exchange for raising the Wicked Wench (BP's original name), Jack will serve under the Dutchman's mast for 100 years.

The Wicked Wench was sunk by Beckett after Jack freed slaves from a slaver's ship , another fact alluded in the third film during the Beckett and Sparrow scene.

Jack claimed and even said to Jones that he only captained the Black Pearl for a year after Hector did a mutiny against him and left him in that rum island. So Salazar was killed by Jack in his teens? In that one year when he got the Black Pearl? Because I can't see him sinking another ship using the Wicked Wench as it was not a warship.

The Wicked Wench is a merchant vessel. Much more, Jack replaced the old sails of WW to match BP's color and painted it entirely in black. It wasn't raised with black sails nor with an entirely black color.

I also noticed on a rewatch, during the part when young Jack was looking at his compass, that the side of the ship was charred. This condition, looking charred (due to it being sunk set alight) after being raised from the depths, is what actually led Jack to make it a black themed ship.

But even if he WAS a teen it wouldn't have been odd, really. Teen midshipmen in the Royal Navy ended up commanding captured vessels relatively often, when a ship ended up taking a lot of prizes, for example. Ships were positively filled with people we'd think of as outright children today, midshipmen having basically grown up entirely at sea. With how Jack's looked upon by other people I could see him as a child sailor prodigy who rose in the ranks quickly only to be overthrown by an older shipmate.

The world and the unknown was shrinking because the East India Company was killing Krackens and shit while the Godess of the Sea was imprisoned. The pirates took care of that problem by killing Beckett and releasing the tempest.

If the movies were thematically about the age of piracy being over or the unknown shrinking then the third movie wouldn't have been about a fucking kingdom of pirates going to war against the EIC and winning by unleashing a vengeful sea goddess.
