The Trail of Tears myth

Sup Sup Forums,

Cherokee/Choctaw native here. Regular poster as well. 3+ years. I thought I'd finally contribute something to this thread that some might find interesting.

I think most Americans / Canadians and even some Yuros or Aussies (kiwis too?) are aware of the 'Trail of Tears' and how it was supposedly this huge injustice done upon the native peoples of the US.

But understand this. Although the trek was in itself ill-prepared and poorly managed, most families from all major tribes (Cherokee, Choctaw, Cree, Seminole, etc) understood that this meant PEACE. Not only this, but many families, especially those who held land in their ancestral territories gained even more in Oklahoma. Also the territory given to us (pic related) is generally fertile and many water sources are nearby. In fact it was European settlers who set up shop in the weaker part of the territory (Dust Bowl.)

Don't believe the liberal myth about the Trail of Tears. Most of our people agreed with it, understood the alternative, and accepted the new lands and the peace. It was a hard pillow to swallow for many, but why do you think a mass exodus actually occurred? It wasn't because we were necessarily forced. To this day Cherokee have land in North Carolina (we bought it back and the feds gave it sanctuary) so we simply learned to play the rules of the game.

The Trail of Tears has been played by the Dems for many years now. It was never a real issue until Dems began to use it as a way to get votes, and not from the actual Natives ourselves, but from the fucking guilty Whites. No joke.

We have settled our new lands successfully. We have purchased territory legally in our former lands. We are happy. Cherokee / Choctaw / Seminole / Creek enjoy prosperity and a high standard living.

Simply Google Earth the areas shown in pic related, street view any town you see in these nations, and witness for yourself.

Don't believe the fucking myths. BTW, we are all patriots! CODE TALKS

also yes I am drunk :^)

Interesting. Have you ever heard of pic related, and if so, can you comment?

>also yes I am drunk :^)

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise

Cherokee citizen here.

I've always suspected the Trail of Tears has been overblown. And I suspect the percentage of deaths that occurred during it were similar to the percentage of deaths that occurred during every great trek across America.

And I for one, am very grateful that I live in the United States of America, because I couldn't stand living in a fucking teepee like a savage. Thanks to whitey, I work in a tribal-owned casino, and enjoy tribal benefits such as free healthcare and tuition, all while living in the greatest country on Earth.

I'm an American before I'm an Indian, and I fucking love this country. I have tears in my eyes right now, but that's probably because I'm drunk.

>hard pillow to swallow

Whether you're right or wrong, much love to you nativebro.

Just consider it our people's red pill. Many of us (ancestors) realized we lost the battle. But also understand we knew war. We knew there are winners and losers. Americans respected many of us. The "Noble Savage" was actually a compliment! You can find in Cherokee texts (we have a written language.)

Now we prosper, by based Western civ rules.

K-12 I never had to learn about the Trail of Tears. It was always Africa, slavery, or the Holohoax. That's fucked.

>Dems use it to get votes from guilty whites

This is a summary of every Democratic talking point since Carter.

Indiana schools always teach it. Its our great shame apparently.

Redfriend, important question:
When you see whats happening in the Americas and in Europe, can you draw parallels in your own history?
Should we be using your peoples as a cautionary tale?
Are you ok with whats happening to huwhites in general?

Pocahontas pissed me off. I hate how films portray indians. They were assholes just as the Europeans were

Governor Ratcliffe was so nice and generous to the natives. When he was starving and asking for food, the natives cut his face flesh off with mussel shells and burned him alive. Fucking assholes

I've recently been reading US history books so I can get a better sense of our history. It never dawned on me until recently that school textbooks I grew up on could have been biased or given me a warped perception of history. I haven't read anything about the trail of tears since grade school, can someone recommend me a good book which covers the topic nicely?

Enlightening, thanks for the quality posting OP.

Europeans came to the New World to build new wonders and societies. Africans go to Europe to leach from what others have already created. There are no significant parallels.

Whites are looking their destruction in the face, and they've done so many times before, but never to this extent. However, they were always meant to rule the world, and they always will. Nothing can beat their ingenuity and drive.

>prosper
Stop drinking that red pepsi. Lysol isnt meant for consumption

No, because if you compared our cultures, we understand war. We were all warring with each other as nations similar to Europe (though by primitive means) regardless, understand because we were still in that warlike tribal stage of development, we understood war and more importantly honor as cliche as it sounds. Always honor the enemy. That simple.
So many of us accept our loss / conquering but not from a shameful / defeated perspective but from an honorable one if that makes sense. We respect the superiority. Respect the fact that the Americans, French, British, Spanish, could win against us. Not sure if that makes sense.

Anyway, problem with Europe right now is they are not fighting back. At least we fought back. Get what I'm saying? Against vastly superior tech as well, we're talking centuries apart. We're still here, with our own governed land. Take that into perspective.

BTW I am only speaking from Iroquois cultural perspective. Don't really identify much with my Mississippian side (Choctaw) because that side married into my Cherokee side (Southern Iroquois)

Great great grandpa is German though. Only white blood I know about.

>pic related. Looks Mexican, but fucking Choctaw kek. One of my great grandpas from the Choctaw side.

Dont get me wrong though Choctaw are pretty based now. Most converted to Christianity.

>but that's probably because I'm drunk.
Ayy

Shit, I should clarify that that pic is not supposed to be my German great grandfather but just one from my Choctaw side.

OY VEY

Native Americans are a good race. They've got their problems certainly and us whites definitely fucked them over because they were in the way of our own Faustian drive to self-assertion. Original inhabitants of this land; they forever left their mark on it. Living on this land has put some strange unknown part of the Red man's ghost into the American white man's soul. Living outside of Europe is changing us, in some way we become more like them in ways we can't even see, because we live on their graves, as they become more like us because they now live in the world we created. The natives deserve a place in America alongside us forever, and American nationalists should seek the blessing and preservation of the Native race, we need them as the living connection to this land's primordial essence

Hello, featherfriends. I'm one eighth Cherokee and have never met a full blood. My great grandmother never registered because she was convinced it would eventually lead to her descendants being treated as second class, if not outright executed. I've always been thankful that she put family before welfare, even though my uncle and cousins have always been bitter about it.
How do you feel about mutts like me and full bloods who didn't register?

Look up our capital Tahlequah. We have a university and a high standard of living.

That is our Cherokee Nation's capital.

Poteau

^Choc

We're doing pretty well. A lot better than these fucking desert rats in the Tohono and Gila where I'm living now.

I worked with a Native American US military vet once. One of the nicest human beings I've ever met in my entire life, a fair, tough-minded, moral human being-one time, while we were cleaning up the store, I shit you not, he started telling us fucking creation myths from his tribe. It was fucking cool as shit, dude really knew how to spin the story and make it dramatic and beautiful, and he often talked about the horrible problems his tribe had in terms of things like alcoholism and general directionlessness. He was trying like mad to become a high ranking member so he could reform things and hopefully give his people the push in the right direction they needed to succeed.

You have my full support in your efforts to unfuck your people, native-bro.

I'm technically not fullblood myself, I am 50% Cherokee, and then 40% Choctaw, 10% random diluted shit (German there somewhere.)

But understand being Cherokee (S. Iroquois) and Choctaw (Mississippian) is like being half Baltic half Greek.

KEK

Giving someone the options leave or extermination is forcing them to leave their current homeland.

Sure, hence "tough pill to swallow" but still regardless they weren't fucking us over entirely, it was effectively a fair deal Peace (we'd never fucking win are you kidding) + Lands we can govern + For many more land than previously owned + Lands are generally easy enough to thrive on = Not such a bad deal.

We're still here. Many of our entrepreneurial peers even managed to buy back lands from our ancestral lands through the legal means adopted from a pretty based Western system.

Look up Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. They're actually regarded as pretty based in our society in some sense. Still fun to make jokes though (they're not "official" Cherokee because they had to renounce their citizenship to our nation) but because we decided to keep our national status and they didn't.

Everyone knows that dude. Everyone also knows that death threat is equivalent to forcing someone away from where they are. People know what you think they don;t and they still see it as horrible.

Eastern Band Cherokee and Soco native here.

On behalf of all of the clans who resisted the white man's "parlay", go fuck yourself.

How does it feel not actually being Cherokee or apart of the nation? Most of you are less than 40% too. Fuck off, I already addressed you here:

WHAT THE FUCK

Bruddy Good song imo.

Oh it's definitely one of my guilty pleasures.

Made all the better by my annual trip to the Choctaw festival in Philadelphia, MS.

Yeah we're pretty assimilated now and proud to be Americans. We've had our people die in pretty much every major conflict the US has had so yeah.

The Choctaw reservation in Mississippi is horrible. Serious problems with child molestation, inbreeding, morbid obesity, drugs, no jobs, no hope, and their casino is holding on by a thread.

The average girl on the res loses her virginity to a family member or someone a family member sells it to.

Definitely. Reservations only contain a somewhat small percentage of this state's native population. Most just go wherever they can find work like everyone else.

Hmm.

I know they show out for the festival but I had no clue it was that bad.

Also the casino is one of the biggest attractions in the area, and they are currently adding on. I wouldn't have guessed that it was doing poorly.

>How does it feel not actually being Cherokee or apart of the nation? Most of you are less than 40% too.
>living where ancestors lived 5,000 years and not being cucked into a foreign designation

post vagina

Fuck yourself you mutt. Our people didn't run on down the road just because that mixblood of a chief from Alabama decided the gubment was just trying to help the tribes. That bastard wanted to be all white and he was in on the whole fiasco. Which is why he personally received the largest land grant seperate from the the designated tribal reserve. Yet our people were expected to follow and abandon our ancestral lands just because some yellowhammer from 300 miles away capitulated said "go"! Hell, Chief Junaluska gave up his lands as a sign of faith and cooperation and what did he get at the end of that trail? Shame, disease, and a dead wife and kids. He at least had sense enough to walk back to Cullowhee after a few years and try to reclaim some of his soul. Better than the rest of you bastards.

You're a fool of a halfbreed and you should keep your ignorant mouth shut.

Go suck a white cock, mudblood

...

I've lived in Oklahoma. It's shit.
Pocahontas was brought along as a cum dumpster, nothing more

lol

Another 1/8 cherokee + 1/8 choctaw reporting

>like being half Baltic half Greek
what exactly is meant by this? being both northern and southern?

Also what kind of cultural stuff distinguishes cherokee and choctaw from other tribes? I've been trying to look into it recently becuz muh heritage, but can only really find info on generic 'injun culture'. Which I imagine is about as accurate as saying generic 'ashin culture'
I'm looking for stuff like religion/mythology, artistic motiffs, structures, dances, clothing, games, festivals/rites.
All I really know about is lacrosse, hoop dancing and wigwams atm.

pic semi-related. any similar stuff for north american tribes?

They had over a year to travel there on their own. Most DID go on their own, no problem. (and they took their black slaves with them).

The 'Trail' people (and their black slaves) were the ones who said fuck you, and refused to go.

If they hadn't been relocated, there'd be a lot less of their descendants alive today. Jackson did them a HUGE favor.

I'm directly descended from Rebecca Rolfe, aka Matoaka, aka Pocohontas. She had only one son, and he married a great+infinity aunt. My mother went back and researched our family line and found this out.

It always made me so mad that dems would use Natives as a tearjerker, or tried to speak for them. Y'all have voices, and while I wish I was more in touch with the Native blood in me (my father had Iroquois blood in him too), I too am happy to live in a house with central air and make money.

OK someone really needs to sauce this now

...

>It was a hard pillow to swallow for many
kek

Most natives have 2 choices:
1. Breed with other races.
2. Go extinct after fucking their first cousins for a few more generations.

"Full blood" indians need to stop ostricizing people who fall below the % quota for gubment gimmies, and start banging white girls and teach their kids their native culture if they want it to survive.

My ancestor was indeed a cumdumpster

Languages and cultures are pretty distinct. Different language families.

still not apart of the Nation, kek.

What was more important to your ancestors as a people? The nation or the small speck of land in comparison in the Carolinas that we ourselves were invaders to?

Same shit different game. If you were a true Cherokee you would have kept your citizenship and moved on. Why do you think we moved from the Great Lakes to Appalachia?

Will you tell us a story about Cherokee/Choctaw magic?

Nativebro,

Thanks for this. What do you think of the Mound builders? All uncucked evidence leads me to believe that they were, in fact, a different race (now extinct) from the Indians who replaced them in the regions where the mounds were found. Yet mainstream arcuckologists insist, despite all evidence to the contrary, that the mound builders were of the exact same race as the modern Indian inhabitants of those regions. What do you think?

Gold was discovered, white trash from the East Coast gutters went west, Andrew Jackson backed the white trash.

Oh yeah, real Cherokees who made it alive to Oklahoma call themselves are "old settlers," a euphemism to distinguish them from the "new settlers" Daniel Boone led

Just watch this.

My grandmother would tell me this story every night before bed as my mother studied at Northeastern ;_; and my father worked the mine.

This guy doesn't tell it with the bravado as my grandmother, but the story is more or less what I was told growing up.

Ha ha, rock on. I love old stories like this.

Mound builders were Mississippian so Choctaw / Seminole etc. (if memory serves correct).

But that's like saying "German culture" although Switzerland, Austria, and Prussia exist. Understood?

If you wish to look into true North American native development, pay attention to the Uto-Aztecan and Mayan cultures. They actually built cities. Same with Pueblo and Hopi.

Mound builders must have been wiped out through war or famine. Most like a bad famine caused by war. The culture still survives though.

Tennesseefag here. Mounds all over the place out here. The first settlers talked to the natives, and they had no clue about the original inhabitants. Died out long before "modern" injuns. A few fascinating theories about extremely large people inhabiting the land, but nothing concrete.
pic 5 miles from meh

Also, I should mention in Cherokee language this story is extremely cosmological.

Water = space / endless space (the Ocean to us back in primitive era), the world/core dying/sink into the water = dying planet, dying star falling into the cosmos/nothingness.

Listen to it from that perspective. The Cherokee language is extremely unique, something like 70% verbs in our language (English is 15-25% iirc) and we have 17 verb tenses and 10 senses of self (persons?)

Really, our language is fucking crazy. Even for me.

Cahokia was huge for the day, bro. 40k inhabitants.
Mound-builders were pre-columbian, so no modern tribes, man.

Well, what I am saying is that they are still Mississippian culture.

Sort of like how there were so many sects/factions of Germanic tribes with different dialects, but still "Germanic culture" does this make sense?

It's the same sense. I am not saying mound builders, the civ that built the mounds still exist, I am just saying that the Mississippian culture still exists to this day either through language or practice through the various Mississippian cultures that exist today.

Cherokees were offered a significant amount of money for their land + free land in OK. But... It had to be divided equally among the citizens. Chief Joseph didn't want that. He wanted more money for the Chiefs. So he reneged. The blood is on Joseph and while his people died, he traveled comfortably in a steam boat.

Eternal light and love brother.

I understand your thoughts. Most likely what happened was the ancestors died off, leaving no written or oral history.
Mound people had huge trade networks, complex social and political development, and large cities. You do a disservice to them by not recognizing their many accomplishments as "true" NA's.

being in eastern oklahoma I wish I had that.

wtf I love natives now.

jealous of their single payer healthcare, job placement favoritism, and free tribe money

I'm not dis-servicing them at all, like I said Choctaw and Muscogee(creek) and Seminole (literally Dutch version of Mississippian culture) others always bring up the mound builders as being Mississippian and apart of the cultures. ANY tribe that was based in the Mississippi basin has this feud. It's fucking weird, but let me tell you something, racial tension exists between Natives just as much as between Europeans, Asians, and Africans (in the sense of Anglo vs Germanic vs Med vs Slav | Chinese vs Manchurian vs Burmese vs Japanese vs Korean etc) Same shit really.

Iroquois and Mississippian languages are distinct. Mayan and Uto / Aztec same thing.

North America is a fucking big ass continent. Take into account all native cultures from CAN, MEX, USA, etc.

I'm jealous of pic related

But seriously, the US Government entered into contract with them. We are still (mostly kindof sortof) abiding by the terms of the contract.

I don't know what denomination it is but that's just some nigger church, the preacher says shit about Jesus and it causes nigs to chimp out/pass out. It's pretty common in the south. Also what are you, Malaysia? Watch out for pirates my bru

>It was a hard pillow to swallow for many
No wonder you people talk about getting killed by blankets.

Yeah it's funny, "peaceful natives" is the biggest lie told of them. They hated each other as much as they hated whitey it seemed.

How do you deal, I'm almost thirty and I still get babyfuzz

thx

definition of cuck

I have actually never noticed that. Natives have no beards.

Before the white men came we engaged in mourning wars, blood rituals, animal ritual killings, institutionalized killing torture and rape, extrajudicial execution, slavery, forced marriage and pregnancy and a lot of other shit.

But for us, it is NOT as it once was.

I actually live on a large patch of land that was part of the trail of tears in arkansas. It's out in the middle of nowhere. I have a small house there.

/x/ shit happens constantly, lots of ghosts and apparitions.

Not a descendant of Mesoamerica / quetzalcoatl hahah

I lived by some Ponca indians once, and I'm pretty sure most of this still goes on.

rifk all day.

Report it to the authorities/

What are you some kinda "no snitching nigra"

I get to drive down the Trail on my way to work. It's a tiny road out in the country. We have a large concentration of mounds in the area also, and can confirm /x/ shit happens on the reg.

Anyone still here? Will dump capital Tahlequah.

You must oppose these things.

"My dear family: It's painful knowing that I'll not see your faces anymore. But I must take this stand for what I know is right. You may think that an old man wouldn't be afraid to die, but this old man is very frightened. I'm hoping that I'll find a little of your mother's dignity and strength. So far, I'm as frightened as a child who fears the dark. But we must fight the darkness that is threatening to engulf us. Each of us must be a ray of hope and do our part and join with the others till we've become a blinding light, triumphant over darkness. Until that task is accomplished, life will have no meaning. More than anything, you must remember which side you're on and fight for it. You mother and I will march beside you, holding hands again. We'll sing your song of victory. You'll feel us in your hearts. Our spirit will be with you always"
