They aren't. They had a few good episodes but on the whole the quality went downhill so fast. Basically every character changed beyond recognition into something much worse

I've rewatched them all recently, there is literally a whole season revolving around Dewey being put in the remedial class with cringeworthy side characters who think they're motorcycles or wear red gloves (lool so randum xDDD). It's fucking embarrassing how poor the show got and how it resorted more and more to stupid attempts at non-sequitur or lol so randum humour.

The kids in the special class isn't relied on to get laughs, they are just there in Dewey's class for him to play off.

i've already told you, Lois having a mental breakdown and painting piggy banks. That was the very lowest point for me. Practically everything about those seasons was completely out of character, everything they established in the preceding 4 seasons went out of the window. It was awful. It was like the Armin Tamzarian episode of the Simpsons on steroids
