He doesn't care about America. He invaded Ukraine because it is in his area and sees it as Russian territory. The only real conflict he's having with the Americans is in Syria because he is backing the Lion of Damascus and the US keeps training jihadists to be "rebels". Also the US keeps hyping up Europe by telling them Russia is scary and to be on alert after Ukraine. Putin doesn't want Pooland or Finland, or Sweden or whatever. He only wanted Ukraine.
