Just finished this. I ignored the posts while it was airing but gathered that people enjoyed it. Season 1 was good enough, I suppose, but even then its faults were grating. I was into the stylistic murder scenes, but they became less of a novelty once every random serial kill they were tracking had the same artistic eye for displaying the bodies as Hannibal.
It declined in quality as it went along. By season 2 episode 7 my interest dropped dramatically. The worst parts were those that were already done in the film adaptations and the amalgam of Red Dragon, Hannibal, and Hannibal Rising during the final two seasons was poorly executed. The poor imitation of Gary Oldman's portrayal of Mason Verger was shit. I didn't care that Jack Crawford was black because Laurence Fishburne did a fine job, but I was annoyed at the casting of the ashy negress who played Reba McClane. Diversity when it's forced is glaringly obvious and distracting.
Still better than Manhunter
