Randomly look up Ridley Scott's filmography

>Randomly look up Ridley Scott's filmography

What the actual fuck. I had no idea 90% of that stuff was by him. How can he have so many films under his belt?

And 90% is shit

He deserves an oscar just for being that versatil

He had directed commercials for 20 years before he made his first film.

TIL Ridley is a he

he's also like 79 years old and has put out a film every year for like a decade now

Quantity guarantees quality I guess

He was born just up the road from me.

You forgot The Duellists pleb

American Gangster and Black Rain deserve better than getting paired with all that dogshit

He's a traitor to his Redcar roots!

The Duellists could have done with being longer. It felt rushed to me.

t. Stanley Kubrick

the duelists blows barry lyndon out the fucking water

quintessential napoleonic kino

God, I was so pumped for Robin Hood but then it couldn't make up it's mind what it wanted to be. The part where his dad wrote the Magna Carter had no business being in the movie.

I did! :(

I'd put it on Good but Overrated.

Okay retard.

As was I. I love that period, and Ridley was coming off directing one of the best medieval epics ever made, and the cast was stacked. I'd just seen Mark Strong in Kick Ass and Sunshine, and I was looking forward to seeing his villain against based Crowe. I can't even say it's a bad film. If the ending had been different (IE no fucking child army being led by Maid Marian to the beach) I might have even put it up a tier.

As it is, I would equate it to RLM's The Nerd Crew review of Rogue One. The action is nice and the vistas are beautiful, but I don't give a fuck about the characters. I thought William Hurt as the King's right hand man cast aside for Mark Strong was an interesting subplot that should have been tied into the main story more.

Bullshit. Lyndon is way better.

>Kingdom of Heaven (DC)

I'm so tired of this fucking meme

I agree. He's known primarily for producing huge blockbusters but has as much artistic talent as any other arthouse director of his vintage

I once randomly saw him with Tom Hardy in Durham a few years ago

He honestly just seems to like making movies, and I think you can tell that.

>tfw Robin Hood and Exodus were butchered by the studio.

Exodus was supposed to be some classic 4 hour epic. And Robin Hood was originally some script called Nottingham about the sheriff of Nottingham hunting down Robin and his gang.

where would you put it and why?

It's one of the best epics of all time. Up there with Lawrence of Arabia and Ben Hur

He shot his first film when he was almost 40 tho

He only made 3 good films:
Alien
Blade Runner
Thelma and Louise

technically that's 4

>no 1492
worth it for the Vangelis score and my waifu alone tbqh

hack

Is the theatrical release of Blade Runner worth watching if you've already seen the director's cut?

>Exodus was supposed to be some classic 4 hour epic
Not really.

He said he actually prefer to the theatrical cut to the 4 hour-cut

Y'know what I blame myself. Exodus tanked and he had no choice to go running back to his Alien pillowfort crying and sobbing with his Tony sock puppet.
