How come more cops here in the US don't wear more distinguishable uniforms?
I'm not retarded and can spot a cop in a uniform from a mile, but there's been many "I didn't know you were a cop" situations. Many of the times the perpetrator is lying, but if more US police would wear more distinguishable uniforms like in the UK/Europe, bright yellow vest/black and white, maybe it would be one less issue for them. Not only this, but it would increase their own safety to prevent friendly fire/giving tickets at the side of the road.

I believe those are just ugly as fuck ceremony uniforms. Cops don't wear ties unless they are square badges or meter maids (including highway patrol).
The NYPD had dark caps and pants but comfortable baby blue shirts. Not sure if they have them now.
I'm willing to bet it's a cost issue in some way, shape, or form.

Light Blue upper with the light blue cars was the best. Those fuckers had yuge 8 cylinder engines and no speed limiter unlike the crown Victoria.
They were built like tanks too. They used to plow directly into the side of cars to jam the doors if a perp tried to escape. They pinned apartment doors and blocked off staircases when necessary.
The best part was the riot uniform. It was a helmet and a wood shampoo. No shields or armor. No pushing to disperse crowds, just beatings.

The idea itself is pretty great. However, distinctive as they are, british police hats look pretty stupid. Russian cops may or may not wear distinctive hats, but they also have these huge ass "police" writing on their backs, so it's kinda hard to mistaken.

I was sure glad when NYPD finally got their shit together with their uniforms and started making them wear belt keepers instead of slinging their Same Browne like they were fucking Wyatt Earp.
We used to laugh at those fuckers getting in a foot pursuit and by the time they got the suspect their damn gun was twisted around to the opposite side, amazing more of them weren't killed.
