They've made a change to that. The pit activates a dial (that is absolutely controlled by someone and not random at all but we'll pretend it's random) that chooses between lowering the pit or sending the house robots loose on for 10 seconds. The catch is it can only be used once per fight, so if you press it you risk the house robot's fucking your shit up and never being able to use the pit.
They also re-added smoke to the pit and house robots spend time celebrating after the end of the fight like in the old series.
I was at a recording of the semi-finals, if you hear "on yersel" at any point it's probably me
