Red flags in film buffs, I'll start

Red flags in film buffs, I'll start
>their favourite Kubrick is Full Metal Jacket

>Prefers the original starwars trilogy to the prequels

>they think Tarantino makes more than just flicks

I was going to post, but I've changed my mind.

>They like Nolan

>They imply full metal jacket isn't a great film.

>Favorite movie is anything on the imdb top 250

It is pleb tier desu, Barry Lyndon and Eyes Wide Shut are the patrician choice

Also Dr Strangelove and Paths of Glory

>I'm a big fan of Nolan movies!

They actually consider themselves a film buff

>i like action movies

they think Villeneuve is a good director

into the fucking trash

I'll bite.

What the hell is wrong with Full Metal Jacket?

It's not my favourite but it's not a red flag either.

>implying the Prestige and Memento weren't great movies

Nothing is wrong with it. OP's point is that Full Metal Jacket is no where near Kubrick's best

>they think Hitchcock isn't a hack
>they think Birdman is a smart movie
>they think the oscars are worth anything

>likes old movies

>they think Birdman is a smart movie
Explain

...

>The Godfather is their favorite movie

>they dont realize The Shining is a comedy, not a thriller/suspense horror or whatever

>trump is a billionaire
>doesn't even have a custom tailored suit for his son

not that user but there's not much to explain there, I mean it's not a dumb film but everything it gives to convey is in your face and pretentious, basically innaritu's style of directing

>I post on Sup Forums

My nigger

>i am anally buttblasted redditor who calls something shit while gladly wallowing in it

hehe

>they rooted for Wendy and Danny instead of for Jack in the climax

>they think The Godfather Part II is better than Part I

>they hate adam sandler movies

>they think no country for old men is good and has a deeper meaning

>They talk about the books in relation to the movie

>They call white chicks a "stupid movie".

>Barry Lyndon
just a shitty braveheart

...

>they watch movies

u on dumb

surprised it took this long for this to be posted

>they unironically list Pulp Fiction as their favorite movie
>they haven't seen a movie made before the 80s
>they think the most important part of the film is the plot
>they don't watch foreign films

Mel Gibson is a pleb director. His directing is average at best and his action shots are unwatchable.

>He is legitimately concerned about being seen as a pleb.

>Paths of Glory
truuu

More like their top movie is Rosebud or 2001

Are we talking about Internet film buffs? In my 30 years of life I have only met two other guys interested in movies, the rest are just casuals watching what's hot in the cinema and the odd "classic" (from the 90s or 00s) on tv.

100% this

>I post on Sup Forums and reddit

>They are under the age of 25

They instantly dismiss Nicolas Cage as a bad actor

>eyes wide shut

Spotted the reverse pleb

>they go to 4chans Sup Forums board

>They don't accept Foodfight! as the greatest film of our generation

>Watches only one movie at a time

Like a sane person? I mean, not liking SW at all makes more sense than liking that shit Lucas layed last decade

Who actually considers FMJ to be a great movie? The opening half is good and is the iconic drill sergeant/training sequence but that's basically it, the rest of the film is nowhere near as strong.

>thinks the first part of FMJ is the best part

Is this bait? Only plebs think that the first half is the good part of FMJ.

>they unironically list Pulp Fiction as their favorite movie
Definitely a top 20 movie lad

The more I grow older the more I hate movies.

for you

...

>they think cinema is an artform

>they don't exclusively watch westerns

>they think 2001 is anything but pretentious fake deep garbage that looks pretty and stretches a 20 minute story into 2 hours and 41 minutes.

>the story could have been told in less time!
The absolute plebbiest remark one can make

>likes star wars at all

he's too autistic to stand still for the measuring

kys pleb

whats yours?

Trips of truth

That and kids grow out of their clothes really fast, I can imagine everyone involved just doesn't want to deal with it on a yearly basis.

>Part II - character study about moral decay of a powerful man in contrast with his father's story of ascension
>Part I - story about a family in the mafia + le iconic quotes
Huh, I guess we know now who the plebs are... you fags

It's not as good as Barry Lyndon but I might say it's my 3rd or 4th top Kubrick movie. It's way better then eyes wide shut.

Ed Nortons story goes literally nowhere.

Shit friends.

It might be Kubrick's best known film.
I remember walking through Target once to buy lightbulbs and seeing some shirt in the kids section with an adaptation of the peace-helmet on it.

That's what makes it a redflag, which is fair. It's like claiming Stalker as the best Tarkovsky, or 7 Samurai as the best Kurosawa.

It's thinking popular instead of thinking good.

Excuse me, but there are only so many scenes the eyes and ears can receive in one evening. And 2001 absolutely has too many scenes.

>I am a special snowflake: the thread

>implying

This. Anything Nolan associated since inception has been trash

this desu, self-identifying as anything relating to your hobbies is corny af

Fuck you man, I self-identify as a big guy even though I'm only 8'2"

is being a big guy your hobby? fuck off retard

The leather club's down the street, Satan.

How's the water? Cold enough for ya?

Kill yourself homo

The story is kinda pretentious, but the directing was great imo

Is telling other people "I watch lots of movies" or implying that I watch movies as hobby and not just entrtainment corny, pretentious or something? I am asking because I may have to stop that.

I enjoy Nicolas Cage.
He's arguably a good actor that makes enjoyable meme movies and the occasional kino.

>they think The Deer Hunter is the best Vietnam movie
After all the hype it got, the movie was fairly dissapointing tbqh

Watching fiction is pretentious as fuck my man. Either pick up screenwriting so you can justify wasting your time, or develop a nonfiction habit so you can claim research purposes.

There is nothing worse than engaging in multiple hobbies at an entry or intermediate level. It is by far better to engage in a singular hobby at the enthusiast level.

No films in their top 10 that don't have fights in them.

Name a non-shit movie that was actually about Vietnam.

There's only one.

>thinking the vietnam experience is something that can be conveyed in images, when words can hardly get there, and at best, signal the essence of what was missing

if you've engaged in the Platoon versus Hamburger Hill debate, it's too late for you.

They dismiss Harmony Korine and Panos Cosmatos.

I dont know, the russian roulete scene in Deer Hunter felt pretty nam to me.

bingo

bye rddit

>Demolition Man is mentioned
>Doesn't wanna discuss the seashells

>Either pick up screenwriting so you can justify wasting your time

I know, I kinda want to, but that requires effort and future disappointment I don't want to deal with...
I am pathetic
