There's no way she should have gotten away scot free. There was enough evidence and stuff that didn't make sense in her story, that having the female cop and lawyer at the end pretending that there was nothing they could do was stupid.

But when her plan is so full of holes that I can make a list of stuff that didn't make sense in 2 minutes and everyone still plays along like they are fucking retards it shatters suspension of disbelief and makes the ending feel forced and unsatisfying.

The reason I loved this movie so much was because, to my mind, it was Fincher doing a rom-com. It even has the standard three section guy-gets-girl, guy-loses-girl, guy-does-drastic-gesture-to-get-girl-back format.
