Irish Scorsese (Departed, GOTY) is usually shit

Italian Scorsese (Raging Bull, Goodfellas) is usually good

>youtube.com/watch?v=x-64CaD8GXw starts playing

>de niro
lmao

Maybe because he's not Irish and doesn't understand the culture.

Literally Italian Americans in a film called ''The Irishman''

What did Scorsese mean by this?

What exactly is wrong with it getting released by Netflix? They give showrunners and filmmakers full freedom and you can watch it wherever you want

It is the future of cinema, not Netflix per se, but the release method

Does that mean it won't get released in theaters ?

>Irish Scorsese (Departed, GOTY) is usually shit
Implying

>you getting fresh with me marty? you feel strong? go get your scriptbox and write me a fuckin' part ya prick.

I think that African war lord Idris Elba film was released in the cinemas (also funded by Netflix), but didn't get wide release. Most here will just get a HD rip upon release thanks to Netflix

Silence was the masterpiece Scorsese desperately needed.

I think this will be less so. Probably a paycheck for everyone involved. But his NEXT movie will probably be really great. The George Washington one perhaps?

Pesci wouldn't return to acting for a shitty script. It would only be shit if Scorsese shit the bed, although with them mentioning they will cgi De Niro to look younger, that might spell bad news

>departed
>shit
laughinggirls.jpg

>Pesci wouldn't return to acting for a shitty script.
You have a good point. CGI-ing actors is a bad sign but I guess it's better than the alternative of having him in heavy makeup like Dicaprio at the beginning of Wolf of Wall Street.

Sorry Frank, you've been replaced by the guy from Boardwalk Empire

De Niro's more Irish he just has an Italian last name

Fucking break up my party.

Netflix will want it to be released in theatres but theatres won't want it cause it'll be released on netflix

Same thing happened to beast of no nations, the director has a contract with netflix that it would be released in theatres so it can qualify for award season

Netflix themselves would make money in theatres and also promote it online so its win win for them.

The threatres however view Netflix as a threat to their business so will boycott the film, at least the big ones, the independent ones not so

Not him but departed is unadulterated garbage.

MUHHHHH HERITAGEEEE MCPATTY IRISH AND PROUD BOSTON

t. no culture

>departed is unadulterated garbage.

trufax

Infernal Affairs is 1000x better than that piece of shit

Is Pesci confirmed?

practically. De niro continues to tease everyone whilst Pesci just keeps quiet

It will supposedly have a wider theatre release window than Beast of No Nation (it will take a while longer to be released on Netflix) and it's Scorsese so it will probably more favorable to cinemas.

At least that's what Netflix is hoping for.

I would be more worried about looking at a CGI de aged De Niro for the entire movie than Netflix to be honest

No idea what the fuck Marty is thinking

>be the niggers of white people
>get butthurt when some bahstun shamrock niggers toot your horn

Glad I'm not Irish...

You insulted him a little bit

I just hope it's not gonna be that way the whole movie. For a minor flashback I wouldn't mind

>implying every nation is a separate Culture...

OP is a retard who has no idea what it means.

Nah, nah. He didn't insult nobody

its about the guy telling his stories so it wont all be CGI'd De niro, but Id say plenty of it will be. Never know though, it might look somewhat better than we imagine

there's still uncanny valley happening in those

looks very offputting even if I can recognize it looks technologically sound

You're just saying that because you are a Koreaboo.
>hurr multiple parts was integral to the narrative and they swear too much

Departed > Infernal Affairs

Literally only reddit pillow fuckers would disagree.

IF is from Hong Kong. I agree with you in spirit though.

DESU, I couldn't tell the first time I watched it. Maybe it's because I hadn't seen too many Michael Douglas movies, so I couldn't really make the comparison

Infernal Affairs doesn't conclude quite as abruptly as the The Departed does. I think The Irishman's script is immune from a rushed 'third act' because the scenes taking place after Hoffa has been released from prison are the best imo. It becomes hilarous at that point.

Ok

>financed by (((Netflix)))
>a bunch of once great actors who haven't been in a good movie in years
>apparently they're gonna CGI de niro to make him look younger? Wtf?

Gotta be honest here lads, I'm a bit worried. Marty's one of my favorite directors ever so I hope he pulls it off but it's just not giving me hope at this moment.

If the technology isn't that good, they'll just rely on the old tricks of Vaseline and plenty of darkness... Sounds like one of my weekends actually... *cymbal crash*

apparently Paramount didn't like they lost money on Silence and wouldn't front the full money.

ridiculous really.

Keitel and Cannavale do great work all the time and De Niro was just in Silver Linings Playbook.

Ayyyyyyyyyy

That's understandable I guess, I know paramount has to think about their bottom line and all. I just don't get how MARTIN SCORSESE couldn't get anyone better than fucking Netflix to produce his movie. It boggles the mind.

I know, they're all talented guys. I'm just saying most of them aren't really at their "peak" anymore. Still, they're all certainly capable of giving a great performance.

You'll have to drink with me now.

That movie with Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley cooper. De Niro and Chris tucker were also in it. I guess you'd classify it as a romantic comedy. It came out a few years ago.

A good movie.

See for a quick five minute scene, I think it will be ok.

But if the majority of the film is that, it will look like garbage by the end. The uncanny valley effect will kick in.

It was the exact same reason people laugh at CG Jeff Bridges in Tron

>get about 100 million dollars from Netflix
>complain

Not true, go back to sucking black dicks

>clearly italian actors playing irishmen

trash

Irish culture isnt your culture

Sheeran's a Norman-Irish name... Hoffa's, well, something else. Pesci was up for the role of Bufalino. No information yet on who Keitel may be playing.

100 million?? Source?

fuck off gooks

Drinks are on the house

its just hearsay for now, no official source. The figure will be above $50m though since that is what it was originally when Paramount was attached

>things colonial chimps will never understand

Yeah, Italy may not be familiar with Celts, Normans or Moors, how could they ever understand? Is the Pope even a Catholic?

>yesssss go-I mean guyssssss, there's no differenssssse between european culturesssss

>Pesci
Bloody hell. I thought he was retired and gone for good. He completely dropped off the radar for years.

Well let's hope that's true. I don't want the movie to be shit, I love pretty much everyone attached to it. I'm just skeptical since so far it seems like everything is pointing to this being a below average film. I'm gonna try to stay optimistic though and support the movie in any way I can. Hopefully this will be a return to form for de Niro.

Scorsese hasn't made anything good this century, don't hold your breath.

Well he did retire and during the last 19 years he's done one actual role in 2010.

>*phone rings*
>Hello
>Hey Marty, its Bobby. Just wondering how much you got for our next film?
>Why?

...

I'M A SAILOR PEG

Pesci won't do it, Scorsese will move on, De Niro will die in the next 2 years and this will never ever happen.

>C.I.A. stance
JFK?

JUST

>George Washington project
I hadn't heard of this. I'd love an 18th century story from Scorsese, but I think he'll have to make it after the De Niro/Pacino project. Does it deal with the Continental Army?

>Irish
>Italian

you mean

>Irish American
>Italian American

so there's one irishman, and everyone else is playing an italian, what is the plot?

well it's called "The Irishman" not "Irishmen"

It's easy to confuse separate civilizations with a High Culture. The European Culture was founded about 1000 A.D. You could argue that this was dismantled through successive religious movements, the collapse of the Feudal system, or more recently by the E.U., but there are more similarities than most politicians and artists seem aware of.

you mean, the swedishman

In context, it's used in the script's narrative to refer to Jimmy Hoffa, but that may hold some ironic intent from the scriptwriter's perspective. If it's supposed to refer to Sheeran himself, then the irony is that his name possesses no Gaelic origin.

It hasn't been announced that Pesci will come out of retirement for the film, but apparently the producer Gastón Pavlovich said De Niro is trying to get Pesci on board. I hope he does.

Pesci is just being quiet. If he wasn't coming back he'd surely declare it

What? Sheeran sounds like an Irish name, Hoffa sounds German or something.

It is an Irish name but it's fully Norman. For a separate example, many anglicized names sound Anglo-Saxon but are actually Gaelic in origin. For example, William Holman Hunt... is that surname Irish or English in ancestry?

Sheeran most likely derives from 'de Prendergast'... The name O'Sirin is very obscure in meaning, and could actually be a kind of Gothic-era ersatz Gaelic.

But user
Snyder is gonna make a Washington epic

...

>tfw Id actually prefer a Washington epic done by Hooper

>Another anti-Irish propaganda film made by wops, dagos AND even Italians

Normans have been in Ireland since the fucking 12th century...you can call them Irish

Which hooper?

>Scorcese film about """irish""" people
>Literally every character is American

>every nation is a separate Culture...
Mexicans and frenchman are really different just to name a few, you pedo.

Tom

Ireland has a fairly distinct culture

Absolutely disgusting tv-tier

I just did user.

Drinks....are on......the house.

That's bullshit. Paramount lost their money on Silence because of their own stupidity in their marketing of the film. They also wouldn't "front the money" because they're completely broke both financially and creatively and will probably be the first of the Big Six to go bankrupt.

>>released by Netflix
>>FUCK OFF
No you can fuck right off Luddite. Netflix is the future and right now is the time to take advantage of such a new service.

John Adams, The damned United and The King's Speech are great my man
