Such aggression can more likely be attributed to circumstantial things like your mom walking in on you playing GTA or the game being shut off / paused unexpectedly. However violence has been on the downswing in the past 25 years - arguably since the beginning of Wolfenstein and DOOM. That, with increased policing and lessened use of drugs, alcohol and cigarettes, perhaps people have found better outlets for their anger.
