I would say thats more towards the music industry. Basically you have to be playing the right kind of music while the right kind of producer/agent/composer just happens to be listening while be at the right place.

For acting it involves taking a shit ton of photo's. For trying to get a role for characters not written for a specific actor, you have to have 'that look' to fill the role. 'That look' depends on the character and is how a lot of casting directors go about choosing upcoming actors for tv roles and minor movie roles.

So basically, If you want to make it in acting in Hollywood, you either need to have personal connections or be hot enough for a casting couch audition
