Jesus, a person, existed. A man, Jesus, was executed by Crucifixion. A man, Jesus, was executed not for the crime of 'being the son of God', but claiming to be 'King of the Jews'.

Jesus, as a historical figure, almost certainly existed and the vast majority of scholars agree to this.

What they do not all agree with is what he was. The religious claim he was the Son of God and all that jazz. The Jewish ones claim he was just a popular rabbi. The atheists claim he was just a guy who was killed and then stories were built up around.

All we know for sure is, a man called Jesus existed and was killed. There are Roman execution orders and recordings for such a man. Jesus existed. Magic tricks and all that stuff? We do not know.

>they don't know

Isukiri was the son of god

>allegedly

Not a single credible contemporary historian corroborates Jesus' existance.

It's actually more likely that early Christian's believed in a mythical Jesus and he was later Euhemerized.

Flat out delcaring that Jesus as a man existed lacks evidence.

>inb4 Josephus forgeries

>What are some movies about smart, sexy guys who troll their moms?

she got memed on hard lmao

take that mom

Romans were extremely meticulous when it came to record keeping and there was not a shred of evidence that proves he was crucified.

Also it's utterly absurd to think that Romans would free a known killer of Roman citizens.

>Not a single credible contemporary historian corroborates Jesus' existance.

ITT blatant fabrications.

Let's go ahead and see that proof that he existed outside of the mythos of Jews.

southern, lower-middle class american people are frightening on an existential level

...

Bold claim.

Let's see that evidence and legitimate contemporary historical record.

>Romans were extremely meticulous when it came to record keeping and there was not a shred of evidence that proves he was crucified.
That seems pretty specious, bud. Unless you can name every person the Romans crucified then I'm gonna have to tell you to gtfo.

It's impossible for that story to come out of nothing though.

>"He certainly existed, as virtually every competent scholar of antiquity, Christian or non-Christian, agrees" B. Ehrman, 2011
>Robert M. Price (an atheist who denies the existence of Jesus) agrees that this perspective runs against the views of the majority of scholars: Robert M. Price "Jesus at the Vanishing Point" in The Historical Jesus: Five Views edited by James K. Beilby & Paul Rhodes
>"In recent years, 'no serious scholar has ventured to postulate the non historicity of Jesus' or at any rate very few, and they have not succeeded in disposing of the much stronger, indeed very abundant, evidence to the contrary." in Jesus: An Historian's Review of the Gospels by Michael Grant 2004
> "There are those who argue that Jesus is a figment of the Church’s imagination, that there never was a Jesus at all. I have to say that I do not know any respectable critical scholar who says that anymore." in Jesus Now and Then by Richard A. Burridge and Graham Gould 2004

Thallus, Tacticus, Bar-Serapion, Pliny The Younger, Phelgion, Celsus, Lucian of Samosata

And so on, all say that Jesus existed.

none of those even sound like real names lol
> Phelgion
